Firstgear Expedition Suit Videos

New for Fall 2010 another smart product from FirstGear providing value to the rider who wants the benefit of a one-piece riding suit without having to make the $1000+ investment required by some other brands. The Expedition Suit is a 1-piece waterproof breathable oversuit meant to keep you comfortable in all hardcore riding conditions or if you are commuting to work. Utilizing many of the technical features of the TPG line of products, the Expedition is a great option at a reasonable price for the avid rider who likes the ease of in and out and the added flexibility of a 1-piece oversuit.

EXPEDITION SIZING NOTES:  The Expedition Suit is meant to be an oversuit with room for layers to be added as temperatures dip. Use your jacket size for reference when deciding. The Knee Armor is adjustable 3-4 inches up and down and 2-3 inches left to right. For reference the Large Expedition Suit fits someone who is anywhere from 5'9" - 6'3" depending on their weight due to the adjustability in height. In the summer months, the suit will fit much more loosely than the winter due to extra room for base layers.

Fragile zippers ruin otherwise great suit I've been wearing this suit on a daily basis for over a year now. It's already been replaced under warranty (with a very long wait that I can't afford again) once because of the main zipper failing under normal use a month after I got it. Not long after I got the replacement, it failed at the same exact spot. My main zipper now has teeth missing in THREE separate spots. I'm not particularly hard on gear, I've never had a zipper fail before, including on my previous First Gear products. I love the suit EXCEPT for the zipper. It has loads of ventilation and is waterproof where there aren't zipper holes. Unfortunately, unless they replace the zipper design, I'll be ditching this for a 'Stich real soon. March 1, 2012
don't recommend I'm returning this suit for several reasons. Insufficient zipper openings, both front and leg zippers. Waterproof zippers bind and require both hands to zip- YKK zippers with external storm flaps and continuous velcro would have been a better (though probably more expensive to manufacture) option. Internal leg storm flaps have such skimpy velcro, with such wide gaps between, that they likely won't stop any water that gets by the zippers. Collar snap is junk, took both hands to fasten; a velcro strap would have worked much better, IMHO. This is the first garment from First Gear that I've been so displeased with that I've returned it. The one piece "Solo" suit they made in the '90s had a much better design. December 17, 2011
You get what you pay for. I thought this suit looked better than the Aerostich, so gave it a go. Nice fit and comfortable, and for a full suit a good fit with the work clobber underneath. Unfortinately could not keep the water out in heavy rain, it seemed to leak around the front zip. Easy to get in and out of, although be careful to fully open the front zip prior to removing as the zip in my suit fell apart with too much load on it during getting it on and off. It has gone back for warranty replacement, which is taking forever with overseas postage, that I have had to pay for. In hindsight I would recommend a pass on these suits. Please note that I did not buy the suit from Revzilla. August 19, 2011
Great multifunction suit! But have to compromise some on fit... Excellent multifunction one piece suit. Waterproof, good air flow when needed. But I had to got to 2XL to get fit on top. Bottom is too big, but will work fine. I will have more to add after my Alaska adventure in July. June 6, 2011
Great suit This is a really nice suit. Thanks to Revzilla for the excellent video review which helped me make my decision to buy. With jeans and a fleece underneath, I can easily ride a 30 minute ride down to 40 F at highway speeds without my heated gear. With heated gear, I've ridden with this suit down to the low 20's without a problem. It's pretty easy to get on and off, feels comfortable, and does a great job at blocking wind. Movable armor pieces in the knees were easy to get setup in the knees. Surprisingly, there's really nothing I would change about this suit (but I haven't had to ride in a real rain storm and haven't tried to use it for weather above 75 F yet). November 15, 2010
