  • Constructed of durable, tough and highly breathable, 250-denier polyester mesh exterior
  • Removable windproof, water-resistant liner, stows easily in rear tail pocket

Excellent fit
Love it.
Bought an XL standard length jacket in High Vis.
6' tall 265 lbs - Chest 48", waist 49" and arms about 36.
Calling into the Gear Freaks at Revzilla (Chris?), their recommendation was the XL size, focusing fit on the chest and arm measurements.
A perfect fit, even hunching over (which tents to stain my other jackets) still fit with out the sausage casing feeling.
In reading earlier reviews I also added the I Klim branded D30 level 2 Viper T5 Pro back pad and B coverage dual rated level 1/2 T5 EVO Pro XT shoulder and elbow pads. They all fit with no trimming needed.
I see now the elbows and shoulder pads have newer models available.
Needed a mesh jacket as midwest summers get muggy enough I would rather drive the car. with better ventilation I think I can finally endure the humidity.

Great choice for the BIG guy!
Im 6'3" 385lbs. I am a good 60" in the gut. This jacket fit me perfect. With the liner it is comfortable even sitting on my wing. Not sure about the liners rain resistance. They keep saying water resistant not water proof. We will see. No insulation so will not do much for below 50 but I will layer underneath. There is room. Sleeve length is good for me at my 36" even a little long. I rode with temps at 85 down to 77 and was totally comfortable. South Texas heat and humidity can be brutal so I will update later in summer after I get a chance to do more riding. Overall Great jacket. Thanks Revzilla for the advice from videos and when I called. Talked to Scott i think. Memory not great. But he said he was a big boy and wore the same jacket. I was thinking Olympia but glad he advised otherwise. Totally satisfied.

Bought for living in Hawaii
I bought this as I will never need anything close to "warm weather gear". First off, the fit is very large, so listen when they say to get a size smaller. I wear L t-shirts (tight) XL (loose) so I bought a L jacket. I will say that if I need to I have room to wear a fleece underneath. Buy a size smaller.
Airflow is excellent for riding in humid and hot (sunny) weather. I find that my legs, helmet, and hands are hot, but not my body. I do sweat underneath, but only because I am wearing a jacket in Hawaii. I like the adjustable straps, but there is only so far to adjust.
A ton of pockets, lost my keys for like 20 mins.
Glad I picked this one.

Makes wearing "all the gear, all the time" a reality!
So far, this jacket has performed above expectations! Airflow and style of jacket were the main reasons I purchased this jacket since I live in Northern Virginia and ride the HOV lanes on a daily bases into and out of Washington DC to get around some of the worst traffic on the planet. Temperatures routinely reach 100 degrees here in the summer with high humidity and this jacket flowed enough air while riding to be comfortable and made sitting at traffic lights tolerable. I've put the liner in for the morning commutes for the past couple weeks and this makes the jacket comfortable down into the 50's so far...not sure below that.
I went with the Hi-Vis yellow and don't regret it for a second, it really seems to work as I haven't been cut-off or pulled in front of nearly as much...so, I guess I'd rather look a little nerdy if I can live to ride another day.
The fit is great, I'm 6'4', and 205 lbs so I'm usually on the fence of ordering an XL or a L Tall...the Large Tall is perfect for me. All the pockets are great but, as another reviewer mentioned, they could have left a few off and airflow would be even better.

Lovin' Goodness
I've been waiting for a good adv style mesh for the southwest climate, and jumped on the Firstgear the day it became available. Weather has not been hot enough yet to get a sense of real airflow and will compare it to my Joe Rocket Phoenix 4 when possible.
Overall I really like the jacket and its build and design. My other brand 2XL jackets fit a bit snug and this one is a boxier cut so it is roomy. I could probably have squeezed into an XL but prefer the slight additional room for hot weather.
Plenty of pockets and well thought out with a thin un-insulated waterproof liner that folds small enough to easily stow in the rear pouch.
The only complaint I have is the armor and its fit. It is a heavy CE rubber and I found the shoulder pads are cupped more than others, and as such catch the arm when inserting and were uncomfortable as well. I swapped armor from another jacket and the jacket fit better, eliminated the sleeve catching and was lighter. At the price point I really have no complaints however, and it is very well made and I like the feel and design.

Thumbs up!

Big Boy review
I am a big guy, 6-2 and 280lbs. I cannot say enough about Firstgear jackets for us large folks.

I first bought the Kilamanjaro textile jacket for the winter and it keeps you warm even at low temps as 35 degrees.

I recently obtained the Adventure Mesh in Hi-Viz. Holy molly, if cagers cannot see me with this jacket on... they are truly blind!

The textile jacket was ordered as a 4X. This time I ordered a 3X jacket in mesh and there is still plenty of room left in the chest and waist.

I like the full styled jackets due to more pocket space.

The air flow on this mesh jacket is perfect. Riding in plus 80 degree weather and I am cool as a cucumber.

You cannot go wrong with Firstgear jackets, especially if you are on the large side of the scale.

It is nice to see cagers look at me coming at intersections and riding side by side. This Hi-Viz jacket makes even the smallest person stand out with this colored jacket.

Thank you Firstgear and Revzilla!

Solid value
I have been looking for a 3/4 jacket to cover my belly. This jacket is cut American I am 6'1" and 275 lbs with a 48" waist and a 50" chest. The 3X is plenty roomy even adding a sweater will not be a problem. I tried the 4x and you would have to be at least 6'-4" to get the arms to fit. I like the way the waterproof liner can live in the tail pocket. The CE armor system is heavy. Overall the jacket has a bazillion pockets. I think some of the airflow is going to have to go through a couple larers of pockets. I will extend this review after I have been through some truly hot weather. Fit and finish are very good.

some great features, liner is not warm enough for <60 degrees
Overall I am very satisfied with this jacket. The sleeve zippers are a great feature. I ride most everyday and the typical jacket has just velcro closures at the cuffs. The velcro tends to wear out long before the rest of the jacket. The sleeve zippers should solve that problem. The zip out liner is very thin and not suitable for <60 degrees in my estimation. Ihave been using an Olympia 2 stage liner from another jacket with this Firstgear jacket and that seems to cover my needs.

A good all around jacket
I used the video as a guide and ordered a medium tall and it fits great. I'm 6' 2" 185lbs 42" chest 36"(measured) waist. The jacket came with B coverage level 1 rated traditional shoulder and elbow pads and an unrated perforated foam back pad. I replaced these with Klim branded D30 level 2 Viper T5 Pro back pad and B coverage dual rated level 1/2 T5 EVO Pro XT shoulder and elbow pads. They all fit with no trimming needed. To me they make a significant improvement to the jacket, especially the back pad. Adding the cost of the D30 shoulder and elbow pads pushed the total cost of the Adventure Mesh over the cost of the Kilimanjaro and the Kathmandu jackets but I don't think they come with the thicker and more expensive T5 EVO Pro XT shoulder and elbow pads. None of them come with a real rated back pad so they are a wash there. They also aren't jackets I would want to wear in Texas on a 95-100 degree day. The Adventure Mesh is livable in these temperatures.

I was looking for a hi viz jacket for my daily commute that looks like it would be a good fit for me. (Update) Now after a few months of use I am really pleased with this jacket. Living in New England we have changing weather regularly. I have ridden with this jacket in the low 60's with additional layers under it and have also ridden wit the liner removed vents open on a 94 degree day and felt the air flow through the jacket cooling me off. Very Pleased.

I needed a summer jacket and this seemed like a good value, I wear tall size clothes and I hope it fits...

I have worn this jacket now on several rides in Arizona it is fairly comfortable and it fits me well..the only thing i don't like is how it fits at my neck line when zipped all the way up...it rubs on my neck while riding and i tend to zip it down 3-4" to get some freedom from the uncomfortable neck line fabric.

Can you guys do a video about this jacket?

Your description says "tailored fit", while others on the net says boxy (ie: fat American) fit. Does this jacket fir more like the TPG line or is it more like the Kili?
A shopper on Apr 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: This jacket is definitely American fit. I am 6"1" 275 lbs, 48" waist, 50" chest.
The 3x jacket fit jwell with room to add additional layers. The waist velcro has plenty of range. It is probably twice the weight of my previous summer mesh jacket. The shoulder and elbow hard armor have a layer of padding also. the padding seems to be able to move independently of the armor. I do not know how that will affect protection. The scratchy tags for size are right where it irritates my neck. I do not know why they do this. Behind the neck should be a baby soft microfiber or fleece patch and nothing else. When I get it broke in these are coming off. Part of the extra weight is the layers for the pockets. This has crazy many pockets. That is how I count 1,...2,....many. I like the way the liner stores in the tail. Most jackets are too short and I get a 3" strip of belly bulge showing between the bottom of the jacket and my belt. This one keeps me covered. I originally got the 4XL. Unless you are 6'4" tall it will be too big. Oregon Jim
Is it possible to upgrade the shoulder and elbow armor in the Jacket to D3O? And if so, what would fit?
Scott A on Mar 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Well I bought two Firstgear jackets, a Mesh Tex and an Adventure Mesh, both size medium tall. The movable shoulder and elbow pad pockets were the same size in both jackets. The D30 shoulder and elbow pads available here, either the T5 sold by Icon or the T5 Pro XT sold by Klim, both fit the pockets very well. The back pad pockets though were different sizes. I was very surprised that the back pad pocket in the Mesh Tex jacket was alot larger than the one in the Adventure Mesh even though the jackets were the same size and the Mesh Tex is a much trimmer jacket. The Viper Pro back pad sold by Klim is a size large D30 product and fit the medium tall Adventure Mesh jacket perfectly. The Mesh Tex will need a size extra large Viper Pro or Viper Stealth D30 back pad to completely fill out the back pad pocket properly but Revzilla doesn't carry an extra large D30 back pad that I can find.
Hey guys - anxious to buy the Firstgear Adventure Mesh and need to double check sizes.
I typically wear a 2XL and am 6'3
My Teknic Freeway in 2XL fits perfectly and I have heard the Firstgear sizes are larger than normal

Wondering if I should go with the 2XLTall or an XLTall???

Thanks!

Joseph
Joseph S on Mar 7, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Joe if you can try on a Tourmaster at a local shop that would be the sizing that you could use for the Firstgear. they are sized very similar.

Robert H Weinstein
Regarding the First Gear Adventure Mesh jacket, Is the arm length listed on the size chart the actual arm length of the jacket? Since motorcycle jacket arms are longer then a regular suite jacket. So which is it my dress shirt length or the actual length of the motorcycle jacket?
A shopper on Mar 28, 2016
What is the best way to clean the jacket?
Larry G on May 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Easy. I had the same question. I contacted Firstgear directly on this.

Answer: Wash it separately in cold water.

Let it hang or air dry. It was not recommended to put in a dryer. The mesh dries much faster than the Firstgear Kilamanjaro textile jacket.

Just remember to remove the shoulder and elbow pads. Wash the liner separately as well in cold water.

Washed both textile and mesh jackets this way with no issues
41 inch chest, 33 inch waste - what size jacket?

BEST ANSWER: I'm 6'2" - 6'3" tall, 205#, wear a 34"X34" jean at the waist, & my chest is a 44. I wear a Large Tall Adventure Mesh Jacket. These jackets are "true to fit" and fit/wear really well. This makes my 2nd Adventure Jacket. I'm glad they fixed the inner liner to improve wet weather protection, but I digress. I bought my first when they originally came out. I also have the First Gear Kilimanjaro 3 season jacket as a Large Tall. My First Gear pants are 36 Tall, but even though I've lost a little more weight, they still fit okay since I wear them as an over pant. I'd buy the whole bunch again without a 2nd thought if needed. Hope this helps. Ride safe.
