Great air flow, generous fit I've been commuting in this during NC's 2 weeks of 100+ heat index and it really moves a lot of air. Upgraded the back protector with an ICON D3O and it fits well. I am 6'1", 220 lb, 48" chest, 39" waist and a 43" belly and the Large fits well. I wanted a longer Hi-Viz mesh jacket to replace my short AGV Solare that tends to ride up in the back and this works great. June 29, 2015
Good for summer. Flows a lot of air. Sized full. Many pockets! Was looking for a longer mesh jacket, as I commute into D.C. every day, and summers here are both hot and humid. This flows a ton of air. Lots of pockets. Material may be a bit thin, but it has enough pads. Sometimes the shoulder and elbow pads get flipped around when donning the jacket, but not if you are careful. I'm 6'1" tall, 265 lbs, 50 chest and 43 waist and the 2x fits great with room to spare. For the money, this is a great value. June 22, 2015
Good summer jacket I bought a Kilimanjaro two years ago and it is holding up much better than the JRs I have bought in the past. Like the style so thought I'd give this one a shot. Fit is a bit loose but this means I can wear the liner over the insulated liner from the Kilimanjaro when the weather gets cooler which is a plus to me. Only need to carry one jacket in the desert this winter. June 15, 2015
Excellent value, hot weather, adventure style jacket This jacket flows a lot of air, as expected of a mesh jacket. It is a good value, as other mesh adventure-style jackets are quite expensive. The fit is on the big side. I ordered a large, but had to send it back for a medium. As delivered the armor is quite stiff. I swapped it out for D30 shoulder and elbow pads which are much more compliant and comfortable. I wore it on a 2100 mile trip this spring and had no issues. The high viz is quite bright, so be prepared for curious looks if you wear it off bike. The upside is no one has turned left in front of me since I have been wearing it. June 1, 2015
Just what I was looking for I needed a jacket to compliment my Kilimanjaro for hot weather riding. Since I am pleased with it, I decided to stay with First Gear and get the Adventure Mesh since it has a little fuller cut. Based on the video, I ordered the medium. It was a little snug for my liking, especially with the liner, so I used Revzilla's fantastic return policy and got the large. Fits great and riding in 90 degree weather the past weekend, it flows a lot of air. As others mentioned, everything is warm at that temperature when stopped, but no biggie. I like it down into the mid-60's without the liner, brisk, but not unreasonably so. May 26, 2015
Excellent buy for summer 6'4" 215lbs. Usually wear a L Tall or XL Trim Cut. Ordered a L Tall and it fits exactly as expected. Enough room to get a small fleece under it with the liner in place, but not overly baggy. Numerous cinches help take up extra slack. Flows air exactly as stated. A bit chilly at 50F w/liner and tee shirt. Comfortable 60F and above. Two items on the wish list... 1) cinches at waste band, not just the hip. Waste would probably fit a 40, so on my 36" waste its a tad baggy. 2) Option for softer and more effective D30 molecular armor. Stuff that comes with it is clearly good (no back armor, just foam), but it's a bit stiff banging against my elbows. Will likely look to swap out those two pieces. Love having tons of pockets easily accessible with gloves on. May 15, 2015
versatile Very nice air flow on warm days, and we with the liner in its comfortable down to about 50*. The armor is comfortable. I'm 6'3 with broad shoulders and the xxl fits nice. May 13, 2015
Makes wearing "all the gear, all the time" a reality! So far, this jacket has performed above expectations! Airflow and style of jacket were the main reasons I purchased this jacket since I live in Northern Virginia and ride the HOV lanes on a daily bases into and out of Washington DC to get around some of the worst traffic on the planet. Temperatures routinely reach 100 degrees here in the summer with high humidity and this jacket flowed enough air while riding to be comfortable and made sitting at traffic lights tolerable. I've put the liner in for the morning commutes for the past couple weeks and this makes the jacket comfortable down into the 50's so far...not sure below that. I went with the Hi-Vis yellow and don't regret it for a second, it really seems to work as I haven't been cut-off or pulled in front of nearly as much...so, I guess I'd rather look a little nerdy if I can live to ride another day. The fit is great, I'm 6'4', and 205 lbs so I'm usually on the fence of ordering an XL or a L Tall...the Large Tall is perfect for me. All the pockets are great but, as another reviewer mentioned, they could have left a few off and airflow would be even better. Ride: 2011 R1200GS Triple Black. September 29, 2014

Mark L: I needed a summer jacket and this seemed like a good value, I wear tall size clothes and I hope it fits...

I have worn this jacket now on several rides in Arizona it is fairly comfortable and it fits me well..the only thing i don't like is how it fits at my neck line when zipped all the way up...it rubs on my neck while riding and i tend to zip it down 3-4" to get some freedom from the uncomfortable neck line fabric.

Dave M: I was looking for a hot weather jacket that was not cut short in the tail. I have two other First Gear jackets and have been impressed with their fit and quality of construction. Feb 26, 2015
Anthony M: Needed a mesh adventure jacket for warm weather (Florida) and the reviews were very good. Cost was also a factor Feb 14, 2015
David P: Great mesh touring jacket fully featured and an excellent value! Jan 1, 2015
val p: Fit my needs Dec 17, 2014
Robert F: My current Sedici Large mesh is simply too short in the torso and sleeves for my comfort. My winter FirstGear jacket has served me well in a Large/Tall. I'm 6'3 185lbs and will report back whether the LT or MT fits better. I ordered both thanks to Revzilla's generous restocking policy. I've purchased a ton of gear form them over the past couple of years and the service has been absolutely TOP NOTCH Aug 29, 2014
Robert T: This will be my second FirstGear jacket. The initial jacket proved to be quite successful so I believe the mesh version will also be acceptable. Aug 4, 2014
Michael P: Price/size. Jul 2, 2014
Larry G: Wanted a newer mesh jacket. This is longer in the back and has more pockets but not sure I will use them. The hi-vis yellow very important as well. I like most of Frist Gear apparel. Jun 22, 2014
MARTIN W: Tourmaster has demonstrated a consistent level of quality and fair pricing. This jacket has features that other manufacturers have at a much higher price point, so when it came to a choice, it wasn't a big leap to go with Tourmaster. Jun 2, 2014
Russell M: 3/4 length mesh jacket Apr 30, 2014
Steve P. L: Because this is the only adventure mesh jacket in my price range. Don't like Olympia design, looks bulky. Mar 21, 2014
Christopher R: It fits me, and is from a company I know and trust Mar 7, 2014
A shopper asked: Can you guys do a video about this jacket?

Your description says "tailored fit", while others on the net says boxy (ie: fat American) fit. Does this jacket fir more like the TPG line or is it more like the Kili?

jim s: This jacket is definitely American fit. I am 6"1" 275 lbs, 48" waist, 50" chest.
The 3x jacket fit jwell with room to add additional layers. The waist velcro has plenty of range. It is probably twice the weight of my previous summer mesh jacket. The shoulder and elbow hard armor have a layer of padding also. the padding seems to be able to move independently of the armor. I do not know how that will affect protection. The scratchy tags for size are right where it irritates my neck. I do not know why they do this. Behind the neck should be a baby soft microfiber or fleece patch and nothing else. When I get it broke in these are coming off. Part of the extra weight is the layers for the pockets. This has crazy many pockets. That is how I count 1,...2,....many. I like the way the liner stores in the tail. Most jackets are too short and I get a 3" strip of belly bulge showing between the bottom of the jacket and my belt. This one keeps me covered. I originally got the 4XL. Unless you are 6'4" tall it will be too big. Oregon Jim

Robert W: I have a Kilimanjaro in large and this is a summertime version. I am 6' 2", 230 lbs 44 inch chest

Fit for this line is American Box cut. Tapered would be a better word but definitely NOT EURO Tapered like

I have Tourmaster which is American Box Cut and this Firstgear line is similar in sizing and comfort. Hope that helps ;-)

In essence you do not have to be a Clothing Model to fit in the Firstgear line LOL

Robert W: I upgraded the Kilimanjaro to D30 back protector (actually I inserted it in addition to the foam pad that came with it) Lots of room for both and the D30 back protector fits perfecto ;-) The Firstgear line appears to be D30 armor friendly! Apr 12, 2014

Joseph S asked: Hey guys - anxious to buy the Firstgear Adventure Mesh and need to double check sizes.
I typically wear a 2XL and am 6'3
My Teknic Freeway in 2XL fits perfectly and I have heard the Firstgear sizes are larger than normal

Wondering if I should go with the 2XLTall or an XLTall???

Robert W: Joe if you can try on a Tourmaster at a local shop that would be the sizing that you could use for the Firstgear. they are sized very similar.

Larry G asked: What is the best way to clean the jacket? May 15, 2015

Shawn K: Easy. I had the same question. I contacted Firstgear directly on this.

Answer: Wash it separately in cold water.

Let it hang or air dry. It was not recommended to put in a dryer. The mesh dries much faster than the Firstgear Kilamanjaro textile jacket.

Just remember to remove the shoulder and elbow pads. Wash the liner separately as well in cold water.

Washed both textile and mesh jackets this way with no issues

Robert T: I use powdered washing machine detergent in a bucket of warm water and a medium stiff brush. I wash outside in the sunshine on the lawn and brush all over making sure bug parts and other road detritus is removed. Spray off with the hose then open the jacket and place over a clean ladder in the open shade until dry. May 15, 2015
