Dunlop Sportmax Q2 Front Tire

  • The new Q2 incorporates race-tested advancements that add up to a vastly superior tire equally at home on the street or the track.
  • Intuitive Response Profile (IRP) technology in the rear tire intuitively allows the rider greater latitude in line choice while cornering and provides amazingly linear steering no matter what shape, speed or camber the corner, and at all lean angles
  • Radical new profile puts down a bigger footprint at extreme lean angles while also allowing greater lean angles and higher corner speeds to provide substantially better grip and handling
  • Dunlop’s advanced Multi-Tread technology combines the benefits of a tough, long-wearing center compound for increased mileage with a special lateral-grip compound on each shoulder for superior cornering traction
  • New carcass construction in both the front and rear tires includes newly designed continuous hex beads that are both lighter and stronger to enhance steering response in the front tire and increase cornering stability in both tires
  • Q2 rear tire features a newly developed, stiffer version of Dunlop’s Jointless Band (JLB) construction that utilizes a continuously wound aramid belt for reduced carcass distortion, plus stiffer overall construction to meet high-performance demands and provide a more consistent contact patch

Excellent tire! I have had this tire on the bike for quite a while now, and it is outstanding. Great bang for your buck! Then only down side that i can see about it is that when she is cold she is pretty slick. However the tire warms up very quickly, and is very tacky on the edges! Overall great tire I actually will be ordering another one shortly. May 11, 2013
This is a great sport tire. I retired a year ago and have gone through 3 sets of Q2s on an R1 since. I was using sport touring tires while I was still working, but I no longer have a commute and my riding is now almost all twisties. I really like the Q2 front. It weighs much less than the Roadsmart front and is more nimble. Plus it lasts just as long for me (2000-3000 miles). I get the same life from a set of Roadsmarts as I do the Q2s. The Q2s are softer of course but hold the front profile (shape of the contact patch) better. The Roadsmarts don't wear as evenly and become pointed as the sides of the front disappear quicker then the center. The result is not just the usual heavier steering as the curve of the profile flattens in the center, but also unpredictable steering when the front finally agrees to roll in and then suddenly falls on its side because the shoulders are gone. With the Roadsmarts the front would be toast and riding an exercise in herding while the rear was only 2/3rds gone. With the Q2s both tires wear out together and even though the steering becomes heavier it remains precise to the bitter end. Thankfully, I have no rain experience with the Q2. This is a great sport tire and it is cheap too boot. As an aside, if you are interested in a more nimble bike, try a 60 series aspect ratio on the front instead of the ubiguitous 70 series. The change will lower the axle 1/2 inch and have much more effect than raising the fork tubes a few mm. March 25, 2013
fantastic product I have sportmax q2's on my sv650. They are exactly what i was looking for since i ride a little bit of track, twisty back roads, and commute to school and work. April 29, 2013
Great tire, reasonable price and excellent performance! If you're looking for a performance tire that you can trust on both the road and track, this is the tire for you. Reliable, predictable and with a name like Dunlop sportmax you know you're getting something tried and true. For me it was between the pilot 2CTs and the sportmax Q2,both excellent tires just so happens that the 2CT didn't come in 170 profiles for the rear. April 22, 2013
great OE replacement Stay true to your bike ! OE replacement tire will work well . March 5, 2013
great tire Great dry traction! Handles really well. Tread life could be a little better. March 4, 2013
incredible grip! I have used 2 sets of these tires and the grip is unbelievable! They grip well when first riding and once heated, they are glue! I wouldn't recommend the q2 for sub 40 and below temps. They tend to get slippery when really cold. The tire wear is low for street at about 3000 miles. If you do street and track or lots of twisties this is the tire for you! April 1, 2013
I have run these tires before and loved them. Nothing else out there right now to draw me away. No brainer! I'm running these on a 2011 Ducati Multistrada. Spirited mountain twisties when I go out of town, local track days, and minor commuting. Very confident in the grip! February 11, 2013
