DrySpec D106 Modular Drybag System

The DrySpec D106 Modular Packing System consists of the D38 DrySpec Rigid Drybag, the D28 Dual-End Drybag and the D20 Saddlebag Set. The D38, D28 and D20 saddlebag set is constructed of RF welded 22oz. vinyl that guarantees 100% waterproof performance even when submerged.

D20 Saddlebags:
Unlike all other saddlebags, the D20’s interchangeable center strap is the core innovation that allows the bags to be so versatile. The bags mount directly to a bike with or without sideracks and can attach directly to other D-Series dry bags. Use the VELCRO® brand closures center strap for convenience, the solid nylon strap for extremely muddy conditions, or remove the center strap all together to mount the bags directly to a D28 or D38 dry bag. Mounting the D20 saddlebags to the D28 or D38 dry bag is the ideal solution for riders who want the extra storage but are unable to mount traditional saddlebags due to high exhausts.

Features:

  • Universal slip-lock mounting straps included
  • Interchangeable center straps (VELCRO® brand closures or solid nylon)
  • Mounts with or without sideracks
  • Retro reflective logo

The D38 features a rigid core that enables the bag to be mounted to any bike, with or without a top rack, even when the bag is completely empty. The rigid construction and unique 4-point strap mounting system work together enabling easy access to contents without loosening straps or removing the bag from the bike.

Lots of space and keeps gear totally dry
I bought this set of drybags in the orange (for high viz), for touring and commuting/errands. I love them. My husband and I first used the duffel bag for an overnight trip to Rocky Gap (in MD). It rained on the way there and our stuff was totally dry by the time we arrived. We mounted the bag on my FZ6R and it was easy to mount.

Some advice for the saddlebags: my FZ6R has big handles on the sides of the passenger seat and it was very hard to mount the saddlebags properly when I wanted to use them for a day trip. I read some other reviews on this bag set-up and found that mounting them to the duffel bag first worked perfectly. It puts the saddlebags up higher and if you have a bike with a high exhaust pipe it won't interfere with it.

I love the double-ended bag as well, because it's great to not have to undo bags to get to things inside.

Overall, they are great, waterproof, durable bags. They work on my 2 bikes (a 2013 Yamaha FZ6R and a 2014 GSXR 750) and my husband's 2 bikes (a 2014 Yamaha FZ09 and a 2012 Harley 883 SuperLow Sportster). They work well for our lifestyle with the bikes and how much we use luggage. I would highly recommend them but also would mention that figuring out how to work them for each bike can be tricky at first.

Great, versatile luggage system for any bike
Bought these instead of Kriega bags someone had put me on to. It's ultimately cheaper to buy d-106 through Revzilla than another website or building the same system from independent components.

I mounted these on a 2008 sportster, no luggage rack or extras. The only reason I gave 4 stars for ease of install is because you will have to figure out the right mounting points on each individual bike. The bags are universal, so I knew what I was getting into, but it took me one or two trips and a few adjustments along the way to get it just right.

First time I took the bags out I got caught in a massive thunderstorm. Trees fell, lightning crashed in the road right ahead of me, and I was soaked within 15 seconds of the first raindrop. The bags, however, stayed perfectly secure and all of my stuff was bone dry.

Took them on a trip into the mountains this past weekend and could not have been happier. I managed to fit boots, sneakers, all of my clothing, towels, toiletries, booze, snacks, a few big bottles of water, and even my laptop and camera. I didn't even use the d28 bag.

I highly recommend these bags to anyone looking for some bike luggage.

Very Very Tough. I never got to use them though.
I purchased the D106 setup for an epic adventure that I and a buddy were supposed to undertake on Aug 12th this year. We had planned this for over a year and we were excited to finally board the plane for Denver. We had 3 weeks of BDR riding ahead of us in CO, UT, ID, and WY. We had shipped our bikes fully loaded with a U-Ship company. My 690 Enduro and Daves' 119o Adnventure R. We boarded our plane at BWI having been unable to verify delivery of our bikes to another friend just outside Denver. We found out on layover in MN that our shipment had been involved in an accident just 2 miles east of the Co state line. Bummer. Fast forward here, flew to Denver borrowed truck to drive to KS to survey damage to bikes.
Daves' 1190 was a total loss, My 690 Enduro was beat up pretty good and survival was questionable. My crash bars ended up saving the bike BTW.
Now for the gear. All of my clothes, foodstuff, equipment, and riding gear were in these bags. The accident happened on I70 at speed. The bikes were thrown off of an open trailer onto the highway at highway speeds. This guy had 6 bikes including our 2. While all of the bags suffered major road rash from sliding down the highway none of them let go of their contents. straps did get torn loose and connectors broken but all gear remained inside. These were fully loaded and strapped to the bike that went flying at 70MPH! I was able to simply pick up each bag and load them into the truck we rented to drive our bikes 1600 miles home. I will definitely be replacing these bags with another set of the same for attempt number two next Aug!
Rumbux crashbars ended up being the saving grace for the bike as I had no frame damage whatsoever and somehow the forks came out unscathed.

RevZilla Store
I wanted a soft bag system that was waterproof and would fit into my riding style, off road.

The DrySpec D106 system seems to be the most versatile bag system I could find--especially for the price. Revzilla had the best price, too. Since it doesn't require any special mounting hardware I'm excited to use this system on any and all bikes I will own. I could only find good reviews and comparisons to Ortlieb/other well reputed brands. I'm hoping these bags will be with me for the long haul.

Can I use this on my 125cc?
A C on Mar 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can mount these on any bike as long as there are supports or framework you can strap to. The duffel bag is pretty big, so you might have to figure out something to put under it
I have aluminum panniers already on my bike, would I be able to mount the dry spec 106 on as well? It looks like the dry spec saddlebags sit up pretty high. Wondering if anyone has this set up?
A shopper on Sep 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Depending on how you would want to mount the bag system, one arrangement drapes the saddlebags over the d-38 bag instead of separating them. They also come with additional straps for a few different purposes. I'd take a look at the instruction manual--it's linked at the bottom of the specs--and see if you could make any of those arrangements work. I would think it's feasible.
Anyone know if this product is compatible with a 2013 Ducati monster 696?
A shopper on Jun 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: You can mount this on any bike. The system uses adjustable straps that you can wrap through the frame/subframe, peg mounts, license plate brackets, etc. You just have to be wary of the exhaust.
