Dainese Women's Avant Race Boots
Not race boots at all
I wanted these boots for a very long time. My husband have got similar looking design Dainese boots and their protection is outstanding - with braces, inserts, etc etc. All around great. For some reasons I thought these will be the same, silly me.
Once these boots went on sale I immediately ordered them. Got them the very next day (superb Revzilla!). Opened the box, put them on... and almost cried of disappointment... They are super comfy, soft and great looking. But the only protection you find is in their toe box, soles, and on shins... Somewhat softer heels, not hard at all. Something on ankles but I won't really consider it a good protection. Maybe from scratching, if you fall from a bicycle. Very soft in ankle area and all around. Comfortable because of that, but no real protection whatsoever. My hubby boots have braces and plastic coverings outside that leave your foot comfortable but well protected from being smashed and twisted (heaven forbid!). Also in ankle area women boots are quite wide - easy to walk and bend your feet, but when I asked my hubby to pull the unzipped boot off from my foot, it came off quite easy. It means, in certain situations it can be ripped off your foot, leaving it to road's mercy... Mind you, I am not thin boned, and not like I have disproportionally long feet, tiny heels, or something. The boots are just like buckets in this area. And ankle width can't be adjusted, only calves. But well, they are indeed very comfortable. The problem for me - I needed them for protection, for track riding. These boots do not provide any more protection than my current Joe Rocket Heartbreaker boots (half of Dainese price) that I use for daily riding.
So all in all this is just another disappointment in terms how gear manufacturers think about women motorcyclists - "race boots" are just an imitation... So sorry, but have to return those beauties. May end up trying on men boots...
Depending on your level of "safe-consciousness" and style requirements you may be very happy with these boots. They do look great and very comfortable. But they are not race boots, as it stated in their name and as they may seem to you.
Safe rides and good roads!

Extremely Comfortable & Great Looking Women's Race Boot
I also have the Alpinestars Stella S-MX5 in the same size (8), and have worn those for the last 3.5 years, however there's something snug about it in the toebed and my toes would start to tingle, then burn/hurt like crazy. I realize that's NOT the Stella Boots fault - it's my feet. These Dainese (same size, 8) are exceptionally roomy - initially I thought they were too big, but I kept them, and in wearing them the last few months, I realize the toebox is absolutely perfect for me - wider than the Stella - thus my toes are super happy and don't experience the same pain issues. It's likely neurological, so for now, for the price of a roomier pair of boots, it's a great way to keep riding until the Dr. figures out what's wrong with my feets, or not. Styling is really nice, they're very light as well and I have come to like the back-zip a lot. There's also the expansion option, which is great for when I'm riding in different kinds of gear (pants/suits). Long story short, I love them and I'm very happy!!!

Good, but not perfect.
I bought these boots to wear on the track. They got good reviews and I though they would look fabulous with my Dainese race pants. So, here's the skinny.
They look great. Nailed it not that one. As for fit. I'm a solid 37.5 in euro sizing, perfect size 7 in US. These don't come in half sizes so I had to order the 38. They're a bit big, as in trip over the toe while I'm walking big. On the bike, however I don't notice it at all. The heel hooks nicely on the foot peg and my foot is stable and slid forward in the boot. No problem shifting/breaking. All is good.
So you're probably wondering why I didn't send them back and try the size 37. Well other than I didn't want to pay return shipping I was concerned about the ankle well being small on the 37's (although I don't know if it actually would be). The biggest annoyance for me is that they are a real pain to zip up over my race pants. It could be because I'm short (5'3") and my pants bunch up around the ankle. I have to pull up the pants at the knee so the excess bunches up outside of the boot to get it to zip. Even with that it still takes some effort with the zipping (and moving the adjustable back all around). First time I tried I broke a sweat, no joke. I'm a bit concerned about the strain that it puts on the zipper, but we'll see how it holds up over time. Delightfully easy to get out of though. I kind of wonder if the Alpinestars may have been easier to get up over the boots with the zipper on the side.
Overall though they look great and are comfortable (although a little big).

These boots are awesome
I purchased these boots for my wife sometime ago and she loves them. She loves how they fit and the fact that she is a rather petite female and dainese makes something that fits her comfortably. She wears them for street riding as well as the track and is extremely happy with the purchase.

Love Love Love
Very comfortable riding and for walking. They look Great!! Always hearing compliments about them. Very Pleased with my purchase.
Pros: The adjustable calf feature
easy on/off because of zipper down the back
no break in period
Cons: Have to adjust your shift pedal up a little for the boot to fit comfortably, but its a quick fix.

Great boot for Ladies
I grabbed these as they were in stock in my size and I needed boots on location ASAP. What a surprise. Instead of a small men's boot, I got a boot that fit. I love the adjustable calf - I have thinner legs and most boots fit like bathtubs. The Avant ST is easy in and out, and the velcro also makes switching from leathers in-the-boot to textile pants over-the-boot a snap.
The soles are good, don't expect much traction on cold surfaces, though. The air flow is decent, seems to strike that good balance between flowing and not - the boots stay pretty warm down to 40°F or so.
It was a pleasure to go from one Dainese boot to another with almost no acclimatisation required. Next time, I want more colors to pick from, though. The sexy red stripes on mine are awesome - so more of that, please!
The only update to the boots that I made was sewing a pull on the zippers so that I could grab them with gloves on.

Love my new boots
At first I was skeptical of the boots when they arrived. But, after repositioning the enclosure and finally getting them to zip over my race leathers I was hooked. They look great and they felt great!
