Great jacket for a NW winter.
This is a fantastic jacket and will get you through a variety of conditions.

I am 5'6, 124lbs and the 42 Black/Fuscia jacket fit me very well. I appreciated that there was room enough to wear an extra layer underneath when needed.

Pros:
- Removable thermal layer! This was such a blessing in the depth of winter -- it is a solid layer and kept me toasty warm when temps dipped below freezing at night (with a light jacket on underneath). Being able to take the thermal layer out on sunny days with minimal effort was a bonus, as was the secret velcro pocket on the inner left part of the liner. The snaps holding the liner to the jacket stayed secure and I never had a problem with the liner trying to come loose when I removed the jacket. Liner also added comfort between my skin and the hard plastic armor pieces of the jacket.
- Waterproof! It is pretty wet in Seattle, especially this last winter. I was always protected from the elements. The description says "water-resistence treatment", but I never had a problem feeling any wetness come through this jacket in light to moderate rain. (Always wore a large rain jacket over this jacket in heavy rain, just in case.)
- Solid, waterproof (or at least very resistant) front pockets -- I've had my phone zipped into a pocket when it has started to rain, and though the phone was quite cold when I got home, it wasn't wet!
- Serious armor at the shoulders and in the elbows/forearms. I added the Mantis G1 back protector for that safe, turtle-shell feel. The fabric is also very thick and feels like it would handle abrasion with ease.
- Attractive lines of the jacket -- looks like a nice, protective jacket and not too bulky.
- Longer back panel so my lower back isn't exposed to the elements.
- 360 zipper to attach to riding pants; great for those extra rainy days.
- Narrow enough cuffs to let my winter gauntlet gloves wrap over the wrists of the jacket.
- No issues with zipper dings on my bike's gas tank.

Cons:
- the neck really is uncomfortable, as other reviewers have mentioned. You can get around this by velcroing the strap at a slanted/downward angle to give your neck some space, but it is not an ideal solution as this lets cold air into jacket.
- Very little reflectivity. (Sure, I could have gone with the more visible white jacket, but hey.) I sewed a patch of reflective material to the lower panel on the back (below the pouch for the back protector). I tried sewing reflective stripes down the back but was unable to due to the many inner layers of material. (Note: if you try to sew this jacket by hand, the material is very thick and a challenge to force the stitchings through -- put on your motorcycle gloves ;)
- Very scratchy shoulder armor when this jacket is worn without the thermal layer and with only a tank top between you and the jacket. The armor will leave legit scratches on your bare skin (like cat scratches) if you don't put it on carefully.
- Air vents aren't very helpful for warm weather city commuting. There is a vent on each arm, one behind each shoulder and one on each side of the lower back. But the jacket itself is made of thick material -- great for winter, but even with the vents open and the thermal liner removed, this jacket gets hot for summertime city riding.

Overall, even with the cons mentioned, I still highly recommend this jacket for winter riding. It was warm, protected me from the elements, looked great, and made me feel safe. Looking forward to bringing it back out again next winter!

Excellent!
So, with the colder autumn weather in swift movement. I was going to need something to replace my Air Frame. Because that just wasn't gonna cut it for 50s! I was perusing jackets and decided to make use of the gear geeks upon the site. Preferring Dianese gear because it fits so well. Hilary recommended this jacket because it fit my style, my seating position on my bike and of course seeing a Demon on the front of the jacket, I was kinda sold. The price was low so I jumped on it. Ordered a size 42, I am 5'5" at about 120 pounds. I wear an alpine stars strapped back protector so it fits me nice and snug.

The jacket arrived at my door the next day. Trying it on, I adjusted what needed to be for my comfort. Boy it was cozy and really light compared to my old fall jacket (Speed and Strength Throttle Body). I didn't get to road test it until this morning. It was 45, so I wanted to give my new jacket a try! I zipped up the two zippers, what was really freaking cool, and was wearing an undershirt, my work shirt and a small hoodie. Man, I was toasty the whole way in! There was no wind or cold coming from my chest or arms. This jacket does the job.

Pros:
Comfy for the sport/sport standard riding position
Black has a sleek design and the dianese demon on the front.
Definitely can hold up in the mid to low 40s with minimal base layers on.
Pockets have decent storage area.
Collar keeps my neck warm.
Fits perfect like my Air Frame
Connects to my Air Drake pants.

Cons:
If you are sitting more upright on the bike, the collar will annoy you and hit your chin.

I highly recommend this jacket.

Great fit for petite women!
I am 5'5" weighing 117lbs. Its hard to find a jacket that doesn't look bulky and square-ish. I got this jacket in a size 40 and it fits like a glove.

The only bad thing about the jacket is the high collar. It can be uncomfortable in the riding position because it rides up the neck and feels restraining. I hope this will only take some time to break it in so it will feel less stiff.

Hilary, a gear geek (and a friend of mine) guided me toward this good jacket for the coming sub 60s degrees. She knew I was a dainese gear snob---I mean....enthusiast. So I know my size and ordered!

So the description says the D-Dry liner is removable but in the video you say the waterproof liner is not removable so the jacket isn't good for summer? Can you please clarify?
Nick H on Jul 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Liner is removeable. My wife has this jacket and it's perfect for summer, great airflow.
