I understand that these are made for the D1 jeans, and I assume that the jeans have pockets for the knee guards, but do they also have straps that wrap around the leg so you can wear them with anything?

Answer: 
No, the Dainese Kit J Knee Guards do not come with straps, as they are solely designed to be worn with the Dainese D1 Armor Ready Jeans.

If you wanted a set of knee guards equipped with straps which can be worn on their own, we would recommend the Dainese Knee V Guards.
