Don't Cheap Out! If you have the armor ready D1 jeans, you need these. They're good protection for your knees and shins. Don't even think about it, just buy them. They slide right in the pockets, and lock in with adjustable velcro. Do it. August 18, 2014
Great knee protection within my geans! I got these to go along with my Kevlar D1. Sure, after installing these inside the jeans, mobility is somewhat more limited...but it's nothing major to the point of hindering performance. With these in my kevlar jeans, I can ride with more confidence knowing that my knees will be protected. I have gone down at very low speed wearing only normal jeans before and having my left knee all scratched up sure didn't feel close to OK. With these however, I'm sure I will be pounding the pavement with invincibility....not that I wanna do it at any point...lol July 7, 2014
Good Knee Guards! Bought these Knee Guards with D1 Kevlar Armor Ready Jeans. Very satisfied. June 16, 2014
Got these for the dainese pants Fast shipping, great buy to protect my knees. Dainese pants are a stylish riding jeans that offer great protection. Revzilla offers this product at a reasonable price! May 5, 2014
A must have for the Dainese jeans If you bought the Dainese Kevlar jeans that have the insert pocket for these knee pads, you must buy these inserts. You don't have to but the added protection is a no brainer. It's a perfect compromise between style and protection. January 20, 2014
Must have accessory with D1 jeans Perfect complement with the D1 jeans. The jean pockets include tabs to secure these pads with Velcro. December 15, 2013
Protection I haven't crashed with these so I don't know how good they are but I feel much safer with them than without. I will say however that fitment is pretty good but I wish there was a better system of moving the knee guards up or down inside the pants. November 18, 2013
Dainese Kit J knee guards I bought these knee guards to go with the Dainese Kevlar riding jeans my girlfriend bought for me. The jeans have pockets in each knee on the inside that allow for knee guards. The pockets fit the Dainese Kit J guards perfectly - I believe they are the only guards that will. They are sturdy and I'm pretty certain are CE rated. You gotta have protection! The only issue I found is that on my third ride my knees began to get a little sore and chafed and that was more due to bunching of the fabric than the guards. I can remedy that easily with Moleskin, which is a good idea anyway since whatever helps with comfort is good for riding proficiency. Someone asked if there is a left and right guard and my answer is I don't think so. Not that I could tell. Anyway, Dainese makes great products! Revzilla sells great products with great service and prices. 'Nuff said! September 23, 2013

Dmitry N: If there are labels - then "SX" stands for Italian "sinistro" - "left", and "DX" - for Italian "destro" - "right". Sep 23, 2013

Eddie M: Hello DJ,

I don't have those installed currently as I need to order the proper jeans, however, I do speak Italian. If the guard is marked sinistra it is the left one. If it is marked destra it is the right one. These look like they may also be interchangeable.

Dj K: i thought the same but look at the shin specifically, ones side is straight all the way and one has a curve..the knee is also slightly different and one is labled SX and the other is labled DX Sep 23, 2013
A shopper asked: Do these fit in the $220 d1 jeans as a replacement for the soft protectors? Apr 21, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
David C: If you bought the Dainese D1 Kevlar jeans (and yes that price sounds about right for what I paid) then yes they do fit. But when you say as a "replacement for the soft protectors" I am not sure what you mean. My Dainese D1 Kevlar jeans did not come with "any" protectors. But these Kit J knee guards do fit the D1 jeans perfectly. There is a long pocket in each knee (inside the pant leg) that hold the guards perfectly and also has Velcro fasteners. Apr 25, 2014

Matthew F: No. The D1 jeans are different from the D1 armor-ready jeans.

The armor-ready jeans don't come with soft protectors and have larger/longer knee pockets to accommodate the kit J guards, and they have velcro tabs in the jean to fix the guards in place.

These won't fit in the D1 jeans with soft protectors. Likewise the soft protectors don't really fit in the armor-ready D1's.

Hope that helped.

Carlos M: Don't know. I know they fit the d1 "armor ready jeans," but they have a large pocket to accommodate the long guard. I don't have any experience with the $220 jeans. I got the $199 d1 pair labeled "armor ready." Apr 25, 2014

A S asked: How about diferent sizes? i'm short so i have to think that this item might be too large for me. Sep 4, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Richard K: To my knowledge there is only one size. If this helps; I measured mine and it is 7" from the center of the knee (roughly at the Dainese logo) to the lower "hard protection" edge. There is another 1 1/2" (approx.) from the lower "hard protection" to the bottom of the soft protection. See the photo on the website for reference. You might trying using a tape measure on your knee downward to get an idea of where the protection will sit. These guards in conjunction with the Dainese pants are fantastic IMHO ... I own two pair. Hope this helps. Sep 4, 2014

reginald H: I am 5-4" and did not find the size of these large for me. because of the Velcro i was able to position the kit in a decent location to my knee on the Dainese D1 jeans.(I wish the jeans would come in short sizes) If you wear boots that cover a good portion of your shin then the lower part of this kit will overlap with them. The pads are kinda bulky so if you are looking for a stealth look you might not be happy. Overall the protection is worth it. Sep 4, 2014

A shopper asked: I understand that these are made for the D1 jeans, and I assume that the jeans have pockets for the knee guards, but do they also have straps that wrap around the leg so you can wear them with anything? Dec 10, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: No, the Dainese Kit J Knee Guards do not come with straps, as they are solely designed to be worn with the Dainese D1 Armor Ready Jeans.

If you wanted a set of knee guards equipped with straps which can be worn on their own, we would recommend the Dainese Knee V Guards.

We highly recommend finding a cloth tape measure and taking the time to take these measurements. Dainese sizes will not necessarily correlate with fitment in other brands.

  • Chest: Measure from under/top of armpit across chest to under/top of other armpit, then across back to first armpit
  • Waist: Measure at the hourglass of your torso, (circumference measured at your belly button)
  • Hips: pelvic bone to pelvic bone, the widest part of your hips below the waist
  • Inseam: from crotch to big ankle bone
  • Outseam: from waist to big ankle bone
  • Gloves: Using a flexible measuring tape, measure around your hand, behind the knuckles, not including the thumb.
