Dainese Cage Leather Jacket
Designed for those in search of a technical article and a sports look with a careful eye on price, the Dainese Cage Leather Jacket offers both elevated protection and ergonomics in the finest Dainese tradition and may be seen as an entry level model thanks to its excellent quality/price ratio. Provided with homologated protectors and back protector/Thorax chest protector pockets, excellent comfort is ensured in the Dainese Cage by the adjustment of collar and side volumes, inserts in Cordura Comfort elasticated fabric, the jacket-pants fastening zip, the 3D Bubble liner and a looser fit than the jackets used more for racing.
Denoted as the "Dainese G. Cage Pelle" in Dainese's Catalog
Note: The video for this product incorrectly states that there is perforated leather along the arms on this jacket. In actuality, while it has a perforated look, it is not punched all the way through and will not ventilate in those areas. Primary ventilation will come through the stretch panels.

The cage jacket is the replacement for Laguna Seca jacket. The Laguna Seca jacket was Dianese's entry-level, mid-price point jacket for years. When you talk about Dianese and talk about entry level, you're still looking $400-$500. This guy is going to be $429.
What you're getting is Italian leather. You're getting Armani meets motorcycle gear, and that's in the form of Dianese. They put a lot of time, a lot of effort in both RND, as well as technical and design development of these garments. Notice there's a lot of panels here. It's still a very classically styled jacket, but there's multiple panels allowed to be ergonomic, articulated. It's going to feel just as good standing up as it does in a crouched or tucked position, for spirited sport riding.
Now, this is the black/white version. Notice that we have white panels under the side. I'm going to show you them in a second. There is an all-black version. There's five colors of this guy: black/gray, black/white, black/red, all-black, and I believe black/blue that are available in the States.
Now, turn to the side for me, Joey. So we have reflective here. We have reflective paneling here. We have an embossed Dianese logo, which is something they do in stitching. It looks really, really good. Notice if Joe puts his arm up here, you're going to see some of the white that's built in. Again, this is not the all-black version. This is the black/white.
What I want to show you is two key differences between this jacket and the previous Laguna Seca. You're going to have S-1 stretch panels that flow air, as well as allow you to move and allow for different body shapes and builds that are going to be under the arm. Joe is about 170, 175. He's five-foot-10. He's wearing a 52. It's kind of an in-between size. He could go 50, but it might be a little tighter up top. He goes 52. He has a little more room in the arms, but it fits him well in the chassis. It all depends on how you want this to fit and the type of riding you're going to do.
Remember, we do free exchanges if you decide that you . . . Spinning before I asked you. Look at this guy. He's still going around here. So basically bringing it back to the front . . . Thanks, Joe. We have double-snap up here. It's adjustable. Red Dianese with the white logo. You have a single pocket here. You have your . . . I'm calling this micro-perf because it's the smallest perforation scheme, as far as the diameter of the holes that we've seen. It goes up the inside. So in hotter weather riding, you are going to get some air flow through the perf, as well as the S-1 panels that are underneath the arms.
You'll also notice for abrasion resistance and durability, they've added comfort cordura here in this bottom panel. So in all the color ways, you're going to have a black cordura panel, which actually makes the jacket more breathable, more lightweight. It's going to breathe a little bit better. It's going to do a nice job in that warmer riding condition.
Now I want you to turn around backwards. There you go. So checking out the back of the Dainese Cage Leather Jacket, it's got a little bit longer seat. It's got the fully embossed Dianese demon logo that has temperfoam under it. Again, it's just one of those detail style factors. At $429, you're not going to find many jackets that have the level of thought and detail, at a high-end Italian leather side of things that this jacket does.
So now that I got the jacket, the cage, off of Joe. I want to show some of the nuances. I want to show how the sleeves work. So you have a single zipper with a Dianese button snap. Moving it to the inside, you're going to notice one really key difference that's a huge upgrade that you don't see at the Dianese entry-level price point: 3D bubble liner. This is on all the Dianese high-end racing jackets.
What does a 3D bubble liner do? It allows you to be comfortable in more extreme riding temperatures. So when it gets cool, these bubbles are going to trap air, which is an insulating layer between the little pockets, your body, and the outside of the coat. What that does is it retains heat. Here's the beauty of the bubble liner. When it gets warm, and your body is warmer than the outside air, these pockets of air are going to help pull heat off of your body and trap them, and it's going to allow you to basically create a micro climate within the coat. It's going to be antimicrobial and absorbent. It's going to wick sweat and allow you to stay cooler.
So by having these air pockets, you have evaporative cooling that will go on, rather than having the sweat stick to your body and keep you cool and clammy . . . or warm and clammy rather, which is never a happy time.
Notice it's on the areas where you're going to sweat the most. It goes all down the back, and it wraps around to the shoulders. You have the sanitized lining, which is basically a nylon mesh lining that goes on the inside. 360 degree zipper connection zip with a stretch panel that will connect the Dianese pants. You're also going to have some pockets. You have a chest pocket. You have a safety pocket right here. Actually this is the pocket for the thorax. So you can go that way with this jacket. Just some really nice nuances that do really well, as far as being upgrades on an entry-level jacket.
The last thing I'm going to talk about is armor. It's all CE-rated. The pocket in the back is for a wave, G1 or G2 that we sell here at RevZilla. Then this is going to be the left shoulder armor. Notice it's CE-rated. It comes on a big foam pad, and that foam pad is going to be ergonomic to fit your body, and then the velcro goes in just like that to cup to your shoulder. It's fully removable in the shoulders. It's also fully removable and a little bit longer to be forearm, as well as elbow armor in the sleeves.
Once again, five colors. This is the cage, $429, new for 2010 from Dianese. This is the classic entry-level Dianese example, the mid-price point that competes or basically replaces the Laguna Seca, which had such a great shelf life. It was a timeless jacket they did forever. They said, "We need to spruce it up. We need to make a change." For 2010, it's going to be the cage.
