Decent sound. Plenty of options included for any install I have had a set of G4's for both my wife and I for the past 3 years. Although I've overall been pleased with the system I've had problems with the head sets. The speakers seem to be the week link when they develop a static sound in one of the channels. This latest head set that I purchased for a new helmet had to be returned right away as it had a bad speaker out of the box. It appears the new 9x headset addresses this allowing to use a regular earbud set? I hope they will be comparable with my G4! Overall a decent product and worth the cost for adding to a dirt or snow helmet to expand use. I will look close at the new sena unit this spring though. Looks like better audio quality and the headsets for additional helmets are half the price. I was very impressed with revzilla with the return process. They made everything very simple. Excellent way to refurbish your OLD Scala I have used my Scala G4 for over 4 years and 150k miles plus. Rain, cold, heat, these communication devices hold up to the various riding conditions of on and off road! I purchased this cradle base because my old base finally wore out. The updated version has a better speaker, and more flexibility in use when it comes to boon or flexible wire microphone. I use the flexible wire mic in my Arai XD4 helmet and it makes it much easier to get my helmet on and off. February 24, 2014
Easy to connect in about 20 minutes. Significant sound improvement from earlier version Have 3 helmets and have the Mic set connected for all helmets. Allows flexibility to use either the new G9 or older G4 (passenger). Mic has smaller sponge which allows ease of placement in helmet (I have a modular). Larger sponge is in the package. Sound quality between rider and passenger is excellent even at speeds approaching triple digits. Rider to Rider is very good at similar speeds and range is more like ¾ mile (antenna up). All required accessories are in the box. Item is very well packaged. I would purchase again. February 17, 2014
Great product This item's speakers are a good deal better than what came with my G4 power set. The mic is better in all ways, too. The ability to chose the boom mic or the flat mic is great and would be nice if, for some reason, one of the other mics dies. The clear stick on pad is much much larger than the one that came with my G4, though there is one that is the same as what came with my G4, as well. I like how the components are all modular now, in that they can be separated from the main housing. Great for if just one component dies. February 10, 2014
This product has great features quickly and easily installed great sound recommend thank you January 20, 2014
great for when you have more than one helmet I like listening to music when I ride and this makes it easy to go from helmet to helmet November 25, 2013
Great improvement for scala rider G4 Nice set up for the scala rider G4.... Great mic sensitivity and great sound. November 17, 2013
Work as advertised I made the mistake of buying a Cardo Scala G4 for snowmobiles and didn't realize that this essentially means it was for closed face helmets. We have Sharks that are both so not having a boom mic was a distinct disadvantage. Rather than start over we bought these which allowed us not only to use the radio as intended but we used the other bases for two full face helmets that we had that friends will use this winter. A shopper asked: The Cardo website says that the G9 system allows you to bring audio in from any 3.5mm speakers you choose. Is this bracket capable of unplugging the stock speakers? The old G4 system allows you to plug in an "audio in" (think IPOD) but does not allow swapping of OEM speakers. Mar 3, 2014

DOUG M: No, speakers are hardwired on the g4/g9 headset. I understand that the new g9x allows you to change out speakers for earbids. My g4/g9 had one speaker go bad in a week and cardo replaced in 2 days. I upgraded to the q3 set and am very happy with it, I use earbuds which the q3 accepts. Cardo Scala are great products and if problem arrises, their easy to deal with. Be sure to buy from authorized dealer which Revzilla is so that warranty is not voided Mar 6, 2014

Mark M: The G9 set does let you plug in a separate audio source (audio in) iPod etc. but it does not let you change the OEM speakers (audio out). The G9x however does let you change the OEM speaker (audio out) Go here to read about it.

Mark M: You are correct. The OEM speakers are NOT swappable on the G9. They are swappable on the G9x. Mar 7, 2014

Eugene J: I don't think the OEM speakers are swappable. The speakers are wired into the unit/cradle. Mar 6, 2014

A shopper asked: Is the Cardo G9 boom microphone long enough to be mounted behind the sun visor lever on the N104 using the clamp mount? If not, would it work using the adhesive mount somewhere? I assume the boom microphone could be used on the Shoei Neotec with either the clamp or adhesive mount. Aug 15, 2012

RevZilla: The boom microphone length will work fine with the clamp or sticky mount on a Shoei Neotec.

We would have to say that the boom microphone is not going to be long enough should you choose to place it behind the internal sun visor lever. You can however use the sticky mount elsewhere on the helmet (mostly commonly used where the N-Com Device would go), which should be fine length wise.

A shopper asked: Can wired mic be mounted on Shoei Neotec(modular) helmet and if yes, how? Jun 4, 2012
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
RevZilla: No, you will not be able to mount the wired microphone because of the chin bar mechanism that is offered with every modular helmet. Jun 5, 2012

svMAXs: The speakers are a just a bit bigger. They have larger magnets and can produce a bit more sound db's. They also reproduce bass sound better not as tinny as the older G4 speakers. I have this new set and can hear the difference....not earth shattering....just a bit better. Also the mount is not as thick along the bottom as the G4 (looking at it from the side) The unit sits lower and looks less bulky. $60 worth?.....well thats up to the user. I have a friend I recommended them too.....and he's still my friend ;-) May 31, 2012
