Softer Ride on a 2002 Sportster 1200S
Revzilla matched the price off amazon and speed of service was excellent. Installation of the product, not as trouble free as you would think. The rear muffler had some fitment issues with rear axle bolt & the lower shock bolt, bottom line I had to compress the suspension a bit to bolt the rear muffler on. Yes it's going to ding the rear muffler a bit, but the benefit is that now my bike rides a lot smoother. These shocks are great at absorbing the mild road imperfections and so far pretty good at the larger hits. The bike sits up higher, about 1.5" and gives better clearance inside the rear fender to clean. Is it worth the $200+ price tag, it's a fair price considering my ride is now much more enjoyable and nearly as soft as my Buell.

Performance, not comfort
These shocks raised my bike up just enough for those times I feel like pretending my sportster is a dirt bike or if I need to hop a curb in the city. they did stiffen the ride up some, my bike no longer bottoms out on bumps, now it just hits them harshly. If you are looking for comfort look somewhere else. If you are looking for a decent budget minded shock you found em.

I've got a 2002 sportster and heard some people have to add a fabricated belt tension when using 15" shock is that true? Also do you have to do anything to the front fork shocks to accommodate the higher rear? Thanks
A shopper on Mar 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I think since you're pre-2003 you're safe running the 15" without the belt tensioner. If memory serves me, post 03 have to either run the 13" or a belt tensioner. As far as changing the front end that's gonna be personal preference. Im running the 13's so there wasn't much of a change other than ride quality. still sits the same. I don't think you by any means HAVE to change it. Try it out, if it's uncomfortable or sloppy, upgrade your front end shocks or maybe play with some pre-load adjusters. If any of this wasn't helpful, email burly directly. Those dudes are super cool and super helpful. Quick responses too!
Would this fit an XR1200 without any other changes?
