BMC Air Filter Kawasaki EX650 Ninja 650R / Versys 650 / ER6N

BMC Air Filters are manufactured using a proprietary molding process that yields a truly seamless part. The characteristic red rubber is very pliable and conformable to ensure an airtight seal within your air box. Low viscosity oil saturates multi-layered cotton elements to filter out particulates down to 7 microns yet overall flow is increased in comparison to OEM paper elements. Maximize the efficiency of the air entering your engine to maximize the power coming out of your engine. Keep your bike breathing and performing at its peak with BMC Air Filters!

Features:

  • Higher air flow than OEM filter for maximum power
  • Race-tested for performance and reliability
  • Endorsed by Yoshimura

An expensive filter, but high in quality.
Never thought I'd pay this much for an air filter, but once it arrived, I saw the quality of work that went into it.

I have to admit that the box sat on the shelf for a while once I watched some videos on gaining access to the air box. You have to pull the bike apart just to pull the old one and drop in the new one. However, once I tackled it, I realized that there was no need to be intimidated. Yeah, you have to pull a lot of plastic off and remove the tank (at least on my Kaw Versys 650), but it's really not that difficult. The biggest time-waster was having to run to the store to pick up some adhesive.

The foam surround has pull off tape, but doesn't stick AT ALL. A few drops of Gorilla super glue did the trick. The instructions suggest Loctite, but wanted something that would dry quickly (plus the Gorilla super glue is slightly flexible).

If you've never removed the tank, just watch a few videos and dig in with confidence. One of the biggest tips that helped was the use of a small box to prop under the tank while you make all of your disconnections. Big time saver.

As far as performance goes, there's not going to be a drastic difference. It sounds a bit better, the RPMs dropped slightly, and gas mileage inproved a little. However, allowing your bike to breathe better is always a good idea.
