Works well - great sound quality.

Pros:
Comfortable

Comments:

Unit installed and paired easily with a Garmin Zumo, Motorola Droid, and another Interphone F4. Audio is very clear and installation was a breeze. Would highly recommend.
One note: if you have a full face helmet, you'll want to get the full face mic/speaker kit so the mic fits properly.

A Good Choice......however......

Pros:
Rugged and Great Value

Comments:

My one issue, and this most likely depends on helmet type, is with regard to how the speakers fit in my helmet. (Arai Corsair) They are made of hard material, and you may need to purchase thiner, and or rework the padding around your ears, and perhaps even cut some away in order to inset them effectively. I did not initially and found that after about an hour my ears began to hurt due to the additional compression. Also, be careful to purchase the correct unit, the Universal will not work effectively with a "full face" helmet. i.e. mic mount need to be a soft wire verses the harder conduit type arm.

Worked Good until it fell apart.....

Cons:
Scuffs Easily and Flimsy

Purchased 4/9. Took really good care of it, but I ride everyday, rain or shine. Paired well with my Zumo 660, used the Zumo as the hub for my phone, and streamed music from the Zumo's MP3 player. Music sounds tinny, but no problems there. Phone is audible up to 65 MPH on my 99 Concours with a large Cee Bailey windshield, any faster and it is hard for the person to understand me. In general it worked fine. Also use and stand by by time is fantastic - on a 19 hour trip streaming music it ran out after 14 hours, and charged up enough during a 45 minute break to go the rest of the distance.

One month in the bracket that holds the unit in broke. It would not lock the unit in place. No big deal because I could still use it and gravity did the rest - it still connected to the helmet bracket. By the second month the wire connecting the Blue Ant to the helmet speakers frayed to the point where I only have sound in one speaker. I only took it off to charge it once a week despite riding 3-5 times a week because of the aforementioned outstanding battery life.

I would have rated this product four stars if not for the fact it fell apart. The sound from the speakers could have been better and the controls a bit more accessible with gloves, but I am nitpicking. If you want to gamble yours will hold up, then it is an excellent unit. I don't know what to do know because I don't want to get another one and have it fall apart also. YMMV.

Great range and clarity, period. We got these to communicate with each other and they work fantastic for that. I tested calling out on my phone as well, and the people couldn't tell I was on my motorcycle, and I have some loud pipes! My wife added her ipod to the mix as well, and she ran into some challenges with switching between functions, but as a communicator these F4's are top notch.

Worth the money

I first had a Scala Rider Q2 and loved that unit but wanted to upgrade to the newer technology like the AD2P speakers and being able to connect more than one device at a time. I tried the Scala Rider G4 first and I could not get it to work as advertised so I sent it back and got the Interphone F4. I have not had any problems out of this unit. I can connect my cell phone and Ipod Touch at the same time. My Zumo 550 does not support the AD2P technology so the speakers sound terrible. The music I have on my cell phone and Ipod sound great though. No FM tuner on this unit but that is ok because the smart phone I am getting this week will have one. The only thing bad I have to say about this unit is that when a receive a call, the units speaker volume lowers for some reason so I have to put it back full blast to hear the music with my earplugs in my ears. It really sounds great with the earplugs in and I get more music and less wind noise. I have not had a chance to use the bike to bike communication on this yet, but I mainly wanted it for the music anyway so I am happy with it.

The F4 is like a leach on my helmet-don't even know it's there. I rock while riding and make/take calls to get my buddies out of the house. It's awesome!!

You have to play around with the fit, I have an arai, so I took my cheek pads out and glued the speakers to the foam behind the material of my pads, cut a few holes to run the wires and within 30 minutes I had a custom fit. I can listen to my ipod via an Ad2p bluetooth receiver, while getting calls thru my gps and turn by turn, it pauses my ipod and takes control, the stereo sound is loud enough to hurt your ears!!

Works very well, but some things not as advertised

By Charles M. on April 02, 2010

Pros:
Works well once installed and Very easy pairing function
Cons:
Extra cost to get full face mike and Must use adhesive for Shoei
Comments:

Finally decided to get bluetooth capable communication for helmet. Once installed with correct microphone, the system worked very well. Paired easily with my BlackBerry and TomTom (although no separate channel for each - must pair gps first, and then phone through the gps). However, the kit does not come with a microphone intended for full face helmet (my opinion). I had to order that "optional" mike from the BlueAnt website directly. Added 30 plus dollars to cost. Once I received the correct mike, the install was easy. Also, watch out for the representation that it will install without damaging the helmet. For some, that may be true, but I had to use the adhesive to attach it to my Shoei full face RF1100. In the end, it worked out. However, if it had not worked, the adhesive would have left a sizable mark on the finish. Don't assume it is removable; the adhesive is permanent. The metal clamp is removable, but it does not fit on all helmets.

Easy, Loud, Small.

By Luis S. on March 29, 2010
Sizing:

Pros:
Rugged, Small, Simple, and Loud
Cons:
Low Bass
Comments:

Nice Product! Easy to install, pair, and operate right out of box. Button layouts make sense - it's very easy to find the menu button w/ gloves on, and the volume buttons from there. Volume level is good, and the sound is decent if it positions correctly to the ear. My ears do not really sit in the Shoei Hornet's ear space, therefore it's impossible to correctly position these "thick" speakers to my ears. But that's a helmet issue (or maybe it's all in my head - ha, literally). I compensate by using the loudest setting. This unit is replacing my Autocomm system and is so much simpler to use. The only degradation I notice is sound quality. It's good, and pretty loud... however, I'm surprised by the limited bass level (even when I forced the speaker to my ear canal for testing purposes - ouch). If the Autocomm and other super thin speakers can produce a certain richness in sound, I can't help wonder why these very "thick" speakers do not. But, I really don't listen to music on regular basis so I'm very happy with this product.
