Biltwell Gringo LE Spectrum Helmet

Inspired by a simpler time, when bikes were loud and dirty and helmets did nothing but protect your brains. No ventilation, no worries. Just get on it and ride.

The same 21st century comfort and certified ‘70s styling as the popular Gringo helmet, now in an even tastier range of colors and flavors. The LE stands for Limited Edition, because that’s what each of these Biltwell Gringo helmets is - a retro-inspired full-face lid with graphics and paint schemes available in limited quantities for fashion-backward bikeriders. Construction features include a seamless injection-molded ABS outer shell, shock-absorbing EPS inner shell and a removable, hand-stitched comfort liner with open-cell foam and brushed Lycra construction. The comfortable chinstrap is adorned with brushed Lycra material on touch points and features a flat D-ring fastener with an adjustable snap end retainer. Molded BioFoam padding inside the Gringo’s chin bar picks up the liner’s stitched diamond pattern with contrasting thread that matches the ventilated polyester panels inside. Five snaps around the Gringo's eye port facilitate easy installation of a Biltwell bubble shield or Blast shield (sold separately.)

Features:

  • Injection-molded ABS outer shell with hand-painted finish
  • Expanded polystyrene inner shell
  • Hand-sewn removable brushed Lycra liner with contrasting diamond-stitched quilted open-cell foam padding
  • Internal BioFoam chin pad with hand-sewn contrast stitching
  • Rugged plated steel D-ring neck strap with adjustment strap end retainer
  • Rubber or chrome accent edging on shell and eye port
  • DOT Approved
  • Bubble Shield and Goggles sold separately

Great Style, Comfort, Price Great Helmet. Sweet vintage style. Simple design and high quality. Had a 3/4 style but wanted something with more protection. Bought a MEDIUM per revzilla's recommendation. I measured about a 22 3/8" Probably could have gone with a LARGE but I'd rather it fit snug than move around on my head. Figure it'll stretch out over time. Cheek padding is a little big. Waiting for Biltwell to come out with some more options with their blast shield before I buy one of them. June 25, 2014
SO HAPPY This helmet is awesome for what it is. Lightweight, comfortable, basic, and feels like it was made with care. I'm not going to wear it for long highway miles, but a few hours around town--it looks BOSS, and gets attention when I'm wearing it and when I'm carrying it. So happy to have a retro, sweet-looking full face. Any time I can combine safety and style, it's the nexus of awesome. April 10, 2014
Best lid I've ever owned I love this helmet! It's great in the wind and is the most comfortable helmet I've ever worn. High quality construction with the best materials. Plus it's looks sweet! The limited edition is the way to go. I rock it with a mirrored chrome bubble shield and get nothing but smiles, nods, and thumbs up. I definitely recommend this brain bucket. No frills just old school cool! March 31, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
jason p: The more expensive (and swankier) Bell Bullitt, in XXL, was far too narrow for my head. Wanted a retro styled helmut, for city cruising and this was my last option. The cheaper price point also allowed me to get a sport/touring helmet for longer distance riding. Jun 28, 2014
bryan g: This is one of the few brands of helmets out there that respects the lines and color schemes of 70's motorcycles. May 3, 2014
Martin M: - vintage look fullface

Austin T asked: I wear a Small size in Bell and Arai, but this size chart recommends I order a Large. Are the really sized that big? Jun 7, 2014

Wade B: I wear a large in most helmets. According to the Biltwell sizing chart I "should" wear their size XL. Revzilla recommends that you get the next size down. For me this translates to: I wear a large in most helmets, I also wear a large in the Gringo. And on a side note, I love this helmet! Best lid I have ever owned! Jun 10, 2014

Diogo D: Hi, I use in all brands of helmets the same size, Large...so I guess that the Gringo that you want you can use the same size that you use on Bell and Arai Jun 10, 2014

A shopper asked: How does this helmet work/fit for prescription eyeglass wearers? Apr 20, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Wade B: I ride with no shield and a pair of sunglasses. It fits perfectly! Plenty of room in the temples. Occasionally I snap on my mirrored chrome bubble shield and ride, but then I don't have the glasses. If you have the bubble shield or the blast shield you will have to put on the helmet, then your glasses, and then the shield. And do that all in reverse to take it off. You can't put on the helmet with your glasses on. Other than that this is my all time favorite helmet. Apr 20, 2014

William O: The helmet works well with eyeglasses or sunglasses. You will have to put your glasses on after you put the helmet on. This might only be an issue if you plan on using a visor as well. I suppose you could first put the helmet on and then glasses and then the visor. Apr 20, 2014
