UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE!!!!
I've always stared at this helmet from afar until finally, it arrived in the mail. The package itself smelled like a sweet roman victory on the shores of Greece. Once opened, 3 beautiful white doves flew out and gently kissed my cheeks before flying off. I lifted the Vintage White Gringo into the air as trumpet sounded from the hillsides. All was right with the world as I put the armor upon my head. I saw the world in a different light. It was as if I could hear every woman's thought about my new manliness and how it intimidated them to the point of wanting me then and there! Thank you Revzilla. Thank you Biltwell. My future children shall be named after you.

Saved My Scalp
I am a military Vet who suffered head injuries from blasts in Iraq and Afghanistan. Even though I live in Indiana where a helmet is not required, I wear one as good blow to the head could leave me in a bad way. Last Friday I went down at 35 mphs on some gravel. slid a good distance on my head. The Gringo took some deep gouges, but I felt no blow, nor pain. Grateful for the protection it afforded me and glad it was so comfortable that I didn't think twice about wearing it.

Best-looking helmet I've ever owned
I've never gotten so many compliments on a helmet as I do with this one. I'm very happy with it overall.

The padding is basic, so there's a lot of airflow in through the chin area; that's good if you're in a hot climate, not so good in an icy winter. The chin bar also fits fairly loosely (there's a gap between my chin and the chin bar), so (unlike with other full-face helmets) if I should impact the ground chin-first, I'm not sure it would protect me well; it seems possible that my chin itself might hit the ground along with the helmet.

As a result, I probably wouldn't use it for long-distance or super high-risk riding. But for routine city commuting at moderate speeds, which is what I do, it's perfect.

It seems to fit slightly looser than other helmets. For example, in HJC helmets, an XL is very, very tight on my cheeks; in this helmet I'm a loose XL.

Note: If you're used to flip-up visors, you'll have to accustom yourself to a snap-on shield, which is always either "on" or "off" the helmet (no popping it open on the road, then popping it back closed).

Great helmet, almost like wearing an open face, got it painted
I couldn't bite the bullet and buy an open face helmet, but this came along, and more than makes up for it. Great wind in the face feel with a pair of sunglasses.

I also got it painted at a local airbrush artist. Think it looks pretty good.

Very comfortable
I have had 5 helmets since I started riding in 2002. This is the best fitting and most comfortable I ever had. More comfortable than the Bell helmets that would give me a headache after about an hour of wearing it.

Classic look, but watch out for sizing
The sizing is a big issue for me. I followed the sizing chart provided by Biltwell, and gotten a size XL for 58cm heads. Turns out, the XL helmet was slightly too big for me and had to purchase another size L because shipping the helmet back to Singapore was ridiculous. The sizing tag in the XL helmet explicitly stated "61-62cm" so I am not sure what's up with Biltwell. Customer service rep from Revzilla told me that the tag inside the helmet represents the shell size or something along that line. Doesn't really make sense to me but I'm happy that the size L fits me perfect. Tag inside the helmet states "59-60cm". If you can, try on the helmets before buying to avoid such confusion. Some research showed that I wasn't the only one with such issues.

Sizing issues aside, the helmet itself looks really solid and well built, with good attention to details. Hardware details and the quilted interior are quite stylish imo. The price paid for the helmet is also quite reasonable to me.

Form over function
Look, this is a great looking helmet. You will look cool in this helmet, whether with sunglasses, goggles, or the bubble shield. You will get lots of compliments on this helmet and that will make you feel good. There’s no denying the aesthetic value of this helmet. Brad Pitt and David Beckham have similar looking helmets.

That said, this is a bad helmet for anything but riding around town. Touring in this helmet is miserable. The bubble shield turns the helmet into a sail if you turn your head or get hit with a crosswind. I road through a small Oklahoma storm and a couple times felt like I was going to get pulled off the bike by my head.

The helmet is loud. You will need earplugs for long trips. Without the bubble shield on the helmet lifts at highway speeds.

I bought a helmet that corresponded with my hat size and it feels a little loose.

But man, it looks so cool.

Awesome style with an awesome price!
I really like the look of this helmet. The matte titanium color is sick! It's very comfortable as well. I'm a smaller guy, 5'6" and 145lbs, and most full face helmets just look large on me. The "shell" of this helmet appears to be a lot smaller, in my opinion, and therefore does not look huge when I'm wearing it, which I really like. Great product, great price and great service!

It is what it claims to be.
This helmet is exactly what you expect with the description, it is basic with no frills. I wear river road goggles with it and they work well together. If you don't want to look like a fighter pilot or don't want a full race style helmet this is a much better option than an open face helmet.

Comfortable helmet. Without a face shield wind can grab the helmet and lift your head at higher speeds. But overall its a good helmet for nice weather, city and low speed country riding.

Is there a cooler looking full face helmet on the market? I also have a pretty big head and have trouble finding helmets to fit that don't give me a massive headache. The reviews say that it should meet my requirements and still look the goods. Really excited for this helmet to turn up. I've wanted one since they were first released.

So there are two shells, one for XS S and M, and one for the larger sizes. Do we know how much bigger the larger one is? Is it a visible difference?

Also seeing reviews saying to buy one size smaller, and one size bigger. Would love a definitive answer on this. My head on the tape measure is just under 23" right now, but I have a full head of hair and would be willing to shave it all off. Not sure if people do that and notice a difference in fit.
A shopper on Sep 27, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I always need a large, the large fits me fine, a little tight in the cheek pads. This helmet fits rounder heads (front to back) than oval heads.
The description on the site says get one size smaller, but in your YouTube video comments, you (CK) recommended to get one size bigger. I wear size M in Shoei (RF-1100) and it fits my extremely well. Which size should I go for here?
Talha S on Mar 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am not sure about Shoei sizing, but I have a Med HJC and a Med Licks Nov Dot and some others. The HJC fits me spot on and the Nov Dot did when I first bought it, but after 1 year it stretched out. The Gringo seems a bit like the Nov Dot. I bought a Med and have a feeling it's going to be too big next year. I think a bandanna would work to keep it snug as it stretches out, though.
So I know that the size chart is provided by the manufacturer and they always seem to be off.
I'm measuring for a medium but 1 size smaller is what is suggested by Revzilla...
Some users seem to have commented to go 1 size larger though. Any thoughts on what to get here? I live in Australia so would like to avoid having to send the item back to swap.
A shopper on Feb 15, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I wear an XL in both the Gringo and the Bell Custom 500, so... The Gringo is a tad bit bigger than I would like but stepping down to a size Large would be too small. So I guess if you wear a medium in other helmets and that feels a tad big then go with a Small. But if a Medium is kinda snug on other helmets then go with the Medium for the Gringo. Hope this helps.
Hi, can anyone suggest any retro look kind of goggle that suitable with gringo?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I think vintage aviator style goggles would be something to look at. I've seen em on several sites from relatively cheap to super sturdy/expensive. The look would totally depend on you the rider though.
Hey - I have a Bell Custom 500 in size small and it fits me perfectly. Should I expect that a small would be the size to go for in a Gringo?
A shopper on Aug 26, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I have a Bell Custom 500 and a Biltwell Gringo, and they are the same size (both large). As others have mentioned, the Biltwell is a little tighter around the cheeks, but I expected that going to a full-face helmet.
Hi, guys!

Just bought my first bike, and I'm looking for a full size - open face type helmet.

I like this one, but I have an issue. Does anyone know if I can fit basic eyeglasses while wearing this helmet? I wear not so dorky Buddy Holly type classes.

Thanks!
Javier G on Nov 8, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I wear glasses of a similar and I just bought this helmet. If you're going to wear a shield, it gets tricky. I have to remove my glasses, put the helmet on, put my glasses back on, and then snap the blast shield in place. But I have to do this with just about any helmet I wear, so it's not much of an issue for me. However, if you have a bubble shield, I find that they are harder to snap into place with the helmet already on.
Does the Matte Titanium color lean toward silver or gold? Thanks.
A shopper on May 5, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Silver.. I Put a smoke mirror on it and it looks like an astronaut helmet. Lots of compliments..
I have 3 questions. 1: Is the white more of a cream? I have a cream vespa and was wondering if it would look good. the stock photo looks more cream but the video looks more white. 2: how accurate is the size chart? does it run small or big? 3: does it cover your chin? In the video it looks like it doesnt cover his chin very well but I am a girl and have a smaller face.
A shopper on Oct 15, 2013
BEST ANSWER: 1. To answer your question the white does have a slight tint to it. But it's not quite cream colored, and when in the sun it's pretty bright white due to reflection. 2. The size chart is accurate, but take in to account after wearing the helmet for a bit the pads tend to wear down slightly. I measured 22 3/4 which is the cusp of an xlarge but I bought a large and it fits perfectly and the cheek pads are snug at first but begin to loosen. 3. Mine covers my chin. But that really just determines how your head build is. The video, the guy wears his pretty high. I tend to pull my helmet down and forward and it fits right at mid forehead and covers my chin just fine. Hope this helps!
Hi will a Bell Custom 500 Retro 3 Snap Shield (flat not bubble) fit this helmet or will this only work with a bubble shield?
A shopper on Aug 21, 2013
BEST ANSWER: The Bell 500 3 snap shield won't fit a gringo. Tried it...
So the helmet looks amazing . However i will like to know is does the helmet feel durable ? Anyone that purchased it do you feel safe in the helmet and is it comfortable for long rides ? Thank you
jose Q on Jan 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I bought this as a good commute helmet, and I've taken on one or two long rides. Given my experience I honestly would like a touring helmet for long rides. It's pretty noisy at highway speeds (I definitely needed the earplugs I brought), so I limit it to city driving and short little jaunts. Also I kind of don't want to see how it would stand up in a 55mph+ crash. I'm sure it will take care of my noggin in the city, but if I were rolling on the highway for an extended period of time I'd get something a bit more modern.
