Bell Vortex Helmet

Nothing beats a solid color to highlight the stylish design of a helmet. The Bell Vortex is available in a choice of gloss black, matte black, white or silver; four classic color choices in the riding spectrum. Developed in Bell’s state-of-the-art Santa Cruz, California design center, the Vortex borrows heavily from its big brother the Star. With a solid compliment of features the Bell Vortex is a great choice as a primary helmet for everyday use that can also transition to the occasional track day. A killer price rounds out the package and gives you a big bang for your buck.

RevZilla's Opinion of the The Bell Vortex Helmet

The Bell Vortex Helmet has grown to be one of the top selling and more ubiquitous ~$200 sport helmets in the RevZilla family. The light weight, Snell Rating and ability to use the Bell Photochromic shield allow the Bell Vortex Helmet to cover a lot of the bases the typical sport or track day rider is looking for in a reasonably priced helmet. Many times we see this type of functionality only available in helmets over the $300 mark. In the 3/4 or tuck position the Bell Vortex Helmet will provide a great solution in just about any spirited or sport riding scenario. If you find a graphic or color that suits your taste and you have an intermediate oval head shape, the Bell Vortex is a great option.

Great helmet with some silicone... To start out, this helmet is great for the price. The quality is great but there are a few mods needed. Fit- Fits true to size chart. Not too tight, not too loose. Noise- This is where the 2 mods come in. This helmet is VERY loud. Also when going around 45 mph the face shield makes this very annoying whistling noise that makes you go insane. To fix these go and buy some caulk or silicone. Silicone the 2 side vents and silicone the inside of the black piece on the face shield. This eliminates the whistling noise completely and makes the helmet much quieter. Weight- Average, I have had no problems with the weight. Air flow- I have seen from many reviews that this helmet gets barely any airflow, but I have the opposite. This helmet gets great airflow for those hot days. In conclusion, I would recommend this helmet for the price. It is a great helmet with a few mod. April 16, 2016
I crashed in this helmet. This was my first helmet after I started riding motorcycles back in 2013. I had only been riding for 9 months when I was hit by an oncoming SUV turning left in front of me. The front end of my bike was crumpled beyond recognition, and I flew over the windshield and landed on the pavement 20ft away. This helmet absolutely saved my life, and I am always quick to recommend it to friends who ride. As a young female rider, I am admittedly style-conscious. I also own a Biltwell Gringo because I enjoy the vintage look and want to avoid the bobblehead effect most full-face helmets employ. However, for longer rides and highway jaunts, I choose my Bell Vortex every time. It's sleek, relatively lightweight, and makes me feel safe. For the price, you can't do better. April 1, 2016
Great budget lid This was my first good helmet, so I don't have a lot to compare it to. I bought it for the great price and Snell rating, and I happen to like the style as well. It's a bigger helmet, on the heavy side, and it is LOUD. I covered the rear vents behind the ears with white electrical tape, which helped a lot. Earplugs are definitely required. For the price, I'm still happy with it. Would buy again. April 16, 2016
What a deal! I echo the sentiment about it being a super deal. The noise I found to be fine, especially for the price point (I came from the half helmet world). But one thing I'd like to share about is the sizing... I had previously bought a medium HJC which started hurting after some riding because it was too tight. I then tried a large HJC and, surprisingly, it was too loose. The Bell dimensions for large fall in-between the two HJC sizes. And when I tried it on, it fit perfectly. So for those of you who may have struggled with HJC, the Bell sizing might be your ticket. Oh....And it is one coooooooool looking helmet! April 14, 2016
First helmet It's a good first helmet for those on a budget but want that full face protection and snell certification. Fit is adjustable and even though I got the xs I had to swap the standard 60mm cheek past for the 50mm for a more comfortable but still snug fit. It did fit with the 60mm but it was compressing my check too much which could make me bite the my inner check if I opened my mouth and had just put it on. Did where it with the 60mm during my basic rider course as I hadn't gotten the replacements yet and after about 1.5hrs of use it kinda was less irritating. So I'd recommend adjusting the cheeks to find the maximum protection and comfortable. I still have the 60s just in case. Revzilla delivered on time. April 12, 2016
Great helmet for the price Went from a Bell Qualifier to the Bell Vortex and I love it. It is incredibly comfortable. It is on the noisy side, but I started wearing ear plugs so I can't tell anymore. Air vents are easy to operate. Its not as light as my Qualifier but its not super heavy either. Both helmets serve a purpose now. The Qualifier is my summer time, short distance helmet and the Vortex is the long haul colder weather helmet. I went with the retro paint scheme and have gotten tons of compliments on it. April 11, 2016
Not bad It's not a bad helmet. Seems durable but the reason for not recommending is because it is very very loud. I found that the turbulence from the ventilation is what causes the noise. I actually put stickers over the lower side exhaust vents which helped a lot but I shouldn't have to do this. And the shape is said to be intermediate oval, which is what I wear. But this thing is short, I can push my jaw forward and touch it with my lips. April 10, 2016
Not sure what shape head you have? It's not round...or rectangular, but it's not something in between. April 8, 2016
