Exactly what I needed
I bought a Bell Star and the size was good, but not as tight through the face/cheek as I wanted for racing. I ordered the thicker firm cheek pads and now the fit is perfect. Installation was not hard either. I just took my time and they went in great. The fabric feels really nice as well. Overall, this was a great buy and worth every penny to get the fit just right.

Make your helmet fit you.
I really like the tunability of my Bell helmet. These cheek pads are just the ticket to making it fit perfect. I'm not sure how they determine what firm or soft is, because my firm pads feel pretty soft to me. I highly recommend these pads for no other reason then to get your helmet to fit just right, always a plus. The color didn't match the rest of the inside of the helmet but no biggy.

Now have a perfect fit
Ordered the 55mm for my XL helmet. The extra 5mm made all the difference and now my helmet fits perfect. Easy fix!

Good Replacement Pads
These were purchased for the Bell Star (Snell 2005) which was the first year of the redesigned Bell Star in 2008. The styling is slightly different than the pads that came with the helmet in that the replacements have webbing between the lower and upper pad. This doesn't cause any issue and the snaps line up correctly. Replacement color of the firm pads is black whereas the original pads were silver. Not sure if the silver pads were just for my version of the helmet or not but the two different colors next to each other don't look bad either, so it's a moot point. I prefer the firm pads over the soft pads because of the snug fit it provides in the helmet. Hats off the Bell for making different sizes in the pads, these make a great customized fit with the helmet. 50mm Firm with a Medium shell are perfect for me.

Made helmet fit more snug.
After purchasing a Bell Star Helmet (with 50mm cheek pads), I found that it was not as snug as my other brand helmet. After getting these larger cheek pads (55mm), my helmet fits the way I thought it should have to begin with.
If you're between sizes and you need to snug up the helmet to your face/head, then I recomment these replacement pads.

Great addition to my helmet
Only thing that I do not like is that for my Bell Star Hess, the color does not match the original liner. This one is total black.

Makes your bell helmet a better fit
If you have a top end bell helmet that just isn't fitting quite right or you want firmer cheekpads for the track, these are a must. I went a size tighter from stock. They don't seem much firmer at first, but once you put your helmet on, you can immediately tell a difference in fit. After spending the cost of a top end helmet, there is really no reason not to fork over another 20 or so to make the fit more precise. 5 stars.

Yes, these pads fit perfectly in the 2008 (Snell M2005) Bell Star Ace of Hearts. There is webbing on the replacement pads between the upper and lower pieces on the pads, but it doesn't affect anything and isn't in the way. I noticed the holes on the hard plastic inserts were a smaller size, but they still snapped into the locks of the shell without issue. The only other difference I noticed was the color...replacement pads were black while the original were silver... still looks good though.5 months ago

I just replaced my Arai Profile with a Bell Star SM. The the fit is looser than the Arai. I'm wondering if that has to do with the "soft" (street?) or "firm" (track?) cheek pads. I also need to lift the helmet a bit on the top, which I needed to do on the Arai as well.
There's very little information as to the effects of any of these differences, and no reference for the sizes. What size comes stock in a SM? 40mm?

The Bell Star comes standard with:XS- 50mm cheekpads
SM- 40mm cheekpads
MD- 50mm cheekpads
LG- 40mm cheekpads
XL- 50mm cheekpads
XXL-40mm cheekpads
Cheekpads are interchangeable within shell sizes. Sizes XS-SM comprise the small shell, MD-LG the medium, and XL-XXL the large.
Most riders choose the soft cheekpads for comfort. Firm is primarily for a race fit and will increase cheek pressure.

Pull the pad out of the Bell Star and look on the back. There should be a sticker stating the size of the pad. My medium sized Bell Star Ace of Hearts came with one set of 50mm L/M Soft and 50mm L/M Firm pads. While both are the same size, the firm have a more snug fit so the helmet doesn't move around at all at high speed.5 months ago
