Bell Star Demo Transitions SolFX Photochromatic Face Shield
I definitely recommend this product. I thought I would be able to get away with switching between my clear and dark smoke shields to save money. However, I realized after 3/4 months of owning my Bell helmet that it was time to take the plunge. I was sick and tired of switching shields or packing one in case I rode longer than expected, especially since I ride a bike with no bags. It was a nuisance having to carry more gear than I wanted. I am very glad that I decided to purchase this shield. The shield does get pretty dark in very sunny/warm conditions but not quite as dark as the dark smoke shield (that would be ideal). However, I no longer have to worry about pulling over to change my shield if the sun goes down or if gets dark quickly and starts to rain. The latter scenario was the final straw for me. It was no fun riding in heavy rain with a dark smoke shield because I left the clear one at home. A lower price would be ideal as well. Yet, I am not complaining. I would definitely buy another one.

Nice shield does not get super dark, but does change color. I like wearing sun glasses when I ride so it works well as the sun is setting.

Turns darker than I thought it would.
I bought the Transitions Face Shield in addition to the Dark Smoke Qualifier Face Shield for my Bell Star helmet at the same time. I wanted something that would be good for early morning & evening rides (when the sun would be rising, or setting, respectively)...in addition to something that would be dark during mid day rides (not allow others to see my face). I assumed that the Transitions Shield wouldn't get that dark, but was surprised by how much it actually changes tint in the bright sun! I still use my Dark Smoke shield during the day if I know I won't be out when the sun is down (and because it's cheaper than my Transitions shield & I want to keep my Transitions shield in good condition), but I'd highly recommend you buy this shield if you're considering it & see how dark it gets before you purchase the Dark Smoke Face Shield for mid-day rides. ALSO- the bang for the buck on the Demo shield is well worth it if you're counting your pennies. Little wear & tear (if any) and I didn't see any manufacturer mishaps (but can't guarantee the same for everyone).
