Bell RS-1 Emblem Hi Viz Helmet
Perfect helmet for me
After trying some other brands, I went back to Bell because their internal shape fits me well. My RS-1 was slightly tight side to side in the front, but now that it's broken in it is perfect. It's snug, but that's a good thing. Thanks to the bottom opening being a bit tighter than other helmets the wind noise is much lessened, although it's pretty tight getting it on and especially off.
I think this is the quietest helmet I've ever owned. The side-lever venting system works great once you learn it - lock it (lever to the rear) with the visor up, then you have two clicks forward for degrees of venting. Simply manually raising the visor works well, too, the detents at many degrees of openness hold well in wind but are not too stiff to manipulate easily.
I splurged a bit and bought the Transitions photochromatic visor, and it is very much worth the money. Speaking of which, visor changes are simple and easy, yet I haven't had a visor come unfastened unintentionally.

Very comfortable and stylish , but not perfect
I've been riding with this helmet for about 3 months now and it's been the best I've owned so far. Every helmet I've had before was polycarbonate , so the lightweight composite shell was a nice upgrade. I like the vent feature of the shield lock, but the lever feels cheap and the screw holding it down has loosened itself to the point of almost falling out a few times.
Its internal shape fits my long oval head comfortably and my big chin doesn't stick out of the bottom like my previous Bell Vortex. Venting definitely keeps air flowing at speed, but as others have said, the liner blocks the top and forehead vents so you can't feel the airflow directly on your head.
I love Bell's buckle system. The tab built into the d-ring and magnetic strap keeper make it very quick to don and remove. It's wicking liner does a great job of keeping the sweat off your face and dries quickly. The shield change system also works very well. It's easy and fast.
It is noticeably quieter that the Vortex, especially with the chin curtain installed, but I always wear ear plugs anyways. You definitely get more wind noise with the top vent open, but this is expected and I have not experienced it rattling when closed as others have.
The last small issue I have is with the dark smoke shield I purchased. In direct sunlight it seems like there is a film inside the shield. It creates a foggy, distracting blur. I think it may be the anti fog layer. I don't have the issue with the clear shield though and the sun has to hit it at just the right angle, so it's not a deal breaker. The anti fog works very well too.
Don't let these small gripes discourage you from buying though. The overall quality is on par with helmets that cost hundreds more. It would be perfect if not for its few small design flaws, the illogically designed head liner blocking the vents being the worst. It is currently the best helmet I've owned.

Bell RS-1 superb
Bell RS-1 helmet is absolutely great helmet.I did my research and checked helmet by person on Revzilla showroom in Philly. They run a bit small comparing other brands but thats only my head shape. It has great aerodynamic with plenty of air vents for hot summer. I can proudly say that it is THE quietest helmet I've worn since noise level is key element on my helmet selection. Ive tried many helmets at the showroom as far as weight, shape, graphics and price but Bell was the winner.Helmet has bunch of features like 3 adjustable vents, magnetic strap restraint, great selection of visors and is very stable (even doing 90mph traffic check)and price is not jacked up like japanese ARAI , SHOEI or german SCHUBERT:(
Shape is outstanding with fine padding and comfortable lining.
Bell has won again and done fine job with their RS-1.I got mine in hi-viz graphics so i can be seen on miles away :-)
I definitely recommend this helmet to anyone looking for great helmet for reasonable price. You won't regret it !!!!

I've done about a month with this helmet and have to say this is a very good helmet. Revzilla review is spot on. The fit is a little bit more narrow than I would like, but I can still wear it with out any difficulty. The check pads also have great speaker pouches for a comm system. I have the Bell Transitions SolFX Photochromic Face Shield and couldn't be happier. Air flow is great and I like the defogging detent, nice for low speeds. Fogging has not been an issue. I had fog one during rain on a cold day when I was trying to yell to a friend.

I like this helmet because of the fit, features, design, weight and field of view. When I put on the helmet I knew right away how well it fit. I have a oval to round type head. I love the fit and finish of the helmet. I also love how quiet it is. I ride a sport bike so my head is out in the wind. Had an Icon SSR and this is 10 times better all around. Great purchase. Will buy again.
