This helmet save my life The price vs quality is really good. 1 month a go a car hit me and i proved them also impact with the retainning wall and slide over 15 m. The helments didnt break , the spoiler yes, the face shield fly i dont know why. Maybe tey need to improve this beacuse the secure was on. Improve also the air flow because it gets fog really quickly when i am not in fast movement. March 18, 2014
It impressed this pre-buy research nut...w/ post-buy satisfaction. I have a skinny melon & most other helmets just didn't fit it right. This is intermediate oval-shaped and fits very well. As other have noted, the materials are very nice and the workmanship is excellent. Air flows quite well throughout the helmet, though the eyebrow vent does so in a more diffused, indirect way, which has been fine so far (cold months). Looking forward to trying it in the Alabama summer as well. The ONLY gripe so far, & it's minor, has been a bit of reed-like buzz or vibration noise from the top vent when open, but that's intermittent only. Not a big deal at all & not overly loud when it does happen. The helmet looks nice and feels plush when on my head. The padding was initially tight, but has broken in to a nice conformal, snug fit in the last couple of months when it was nice enough to take the bike out for a spin. I've easily installed a Sena SMH-10 headset on the left side of the helmet (plus mic & speaker wire runs under the removable liner) with no problems, and this has highlighted just how quiet a helmet it is, compared to others. My wife rides (2-up) with me and while bombing down the slab, she often can't understand what I'm saying in her Sena headset, while I can hear her clear as can be. Nice features such as a removable chin curtain/skirt, thoughtful neck-roll contouring, and overall good shell aerodynamics keep things fairly quiet inside there. I've had no problem listening to music at 85 mph, though I do have a decent windscreen on my R1200GS that pushes a good bit of the air up and over my lid. Not all of it, mind you, but some of it. With the exterior shaping of the helmet, head-checks are very stable and don't incur any bobble or other adverse reactions, so I'm quite pleased there. The wide field of view in the eye port means I don't have to spin my whole head around like an owl, but can cut my eyes in that direction for the last 40-50 degrees of angle. No complaints there at all. The visor is quiet, indicating a good seal on the helmet, and the anti-fogging stuff on the inside does a good job, despite a lame name. Sometimes I'll crack the visor up one notch to improve the clearing of condensation if it's humid out or especially cold, but that's only while waiting at a light or something, and it's not often necessary. I will say that my Medium size helmet looks a wee bit larger on me than other helmets do. I'm guessing this is due to a thicker EPS layer or something, but it doesn't bother me. (Plus, it's white, which probably doesn't help.) The protection afforded by this helmet (Snell 2010) and other great features make the perception that it's a bit bigger helmet not an issue for me. I'm a skinny guy, so I don't need any help making my body look any smaller! (If you've got a couple of extra pounds on you, this might be a plus, Jabba.) [see attached pic] Nothing in the 3 months I've owned it has malfunctioned, faded, or worn down noticeably yet, so I still give it 2 thumbs up. It was a doubly good deal when you consider that I got a big discount by buying a closeout graphic. However, for the quality delivered and thoughtful design, you could spend a helluva lot closer to what Shoei and Arai are asking and you'd STILL have gotten an good deal. It's on par with both of those brands IMHO. I tried 'em all on, repeatedly and at length. As far as value and price goes, I'd say that the closest competitor to the Bell RS-1 is probably the HJC RPHA-10...though the HJC helmets are a much more Round internal shape and don't fit my grape in there very well. Your mileage may vary. Good luck with the helmet hunt! March 11, 2014
Excellent Helmet! This replaced an Arai RX-Q that I was wearing in a crash last September. Although I had always been an Arai helmet wearer I decided to give Bell a try because of the great reviews, a great discount price and to buy American. After all, it was designed in my home town of Santa Cruz. I have to say I am very impressed with the fit, finish and styling and feel it is right up there was more expensive Shoei and Arai helmets. The transition shield was an added bonus. March 10, 2014
Love it Great helmet, flows a good amount of air in and I love the magnet on the straps and the tinted visor. Fits like a race helmet, meaning it's snug on the cheeks but I like that it keeps it in place at high speeds. I love the wind visor very good quality. I've had this helmet for over 6 months and I can really complain about it at all. February 26, 2014
Great product; love Bell. Great fit, style, and weight. Air flow could be improved. Found this helmet searching for an upper/mid class. Color scheme was exactly what I wanted, and that's what originally got my attention. After trying it on at the GP, I knew it was the one for me, but I waited to buy it because I always shop ZLA! After wearing it around town and on the freeway, I'd say the helmet deserves a solid 9/10. Only downside, the front air ducts breathe well; however, the chimney vents don't make a huge difference. I feel the channels in the shell aren't deep enough to properly circulate the air; otherwise I would say it's a definite 10/10. February 11, 2014
Great helmet As a new rider this was my first helmet. Fit: Perfect for an intermediate oval, which I read is a good majority of the people out there. More manufacturers are building intermediate oval helmets lately. Noise: Since this is my first helmet I cant really compare helmets that I've used on the road in terms of noise. I can say that about 50 mph is my limit w/o ear plugs. Visibility: I've used the stock shield and it is pretty clear. Though at stops I can tell there's moisture building up inside the visor. Cracking it open or moving takes that all away though. I've already ordered the transitions shield and hope that works well. Ventilation: See some notes above. With all vents open this thing flows air throughout the helmet and aids with clearing up the visor coming from a stop. January 27, 2014

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Johnnie B: Good helmet. High viz. Has served me well during thousands of miles of riding. This helmet moves a LOT of air. Not my favorite for very long, cold winter rides; even with a good balaclava and all vents closed, it just gets too cold after while due to the large volume of air that this helmet moves. However, for all other applications, it's a good product and one of my "go to" helmets. Nov 3, 2013
Pamela T: trying to find something to fit my tiny very oval shaped head. HOPING this will work. we shall see. I chose the high viz b/c I think it would look great with my high viz jacket. Sep 27, 2013
Jason B asked: Is this helmet color your typical Hi-Vis yellow (a little neon greenish-yellow) or just a bright yellow color? It is hard to tell in the pictures and video. Nov 19, 2013

Donald F: The hi-viz is the "standard" hi-viz not just bright yellow. In fact after riding in the sun, you can really see the greenish color in the helmet. Almost glows! Nov 19, 2013

Kevin-Jon M: typical Hi-Vis yellow (a little neon greenish-yellow)

i was hoping for a bright yellow to match my 09 yellow R1...but i like the idea that motorists see my helmet because of the hi-viz yellow

Michael P: It has a little neon green to it like other high viz apparel. Hardly noticeable with the black and red accent making it appear much more yellow. Nov 19, 2013

Tyler B: It is the typical hi-vis yellow. It is hard to capture in photographs, but it definitely stands out. Nov 19, 2013

Robert Kess J: It does look more yellow in the picture, but it is a Hi-Vis yellow (neon-green). Nov 19, 2013

Hubert S: Bright yellow rather than the greenish high-viz Nov 19, 2013

A shopper asked: I've read that the Transitions Photochromic Shield doesn't darken to the same tint as a regular dark smoke shield......feedback? Jan 19, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Adam B: My Transitions shield becomes completely blackened. I have transitions glasses as well and when worn under my shield the do not become dark at all. I love this lens. Jan 19, 2014

Donald F: No, it will not get as dark as a normal shield. Still plenty dark to shade from the sun however. Not having to switch shields throughout the day is the best! Jan 19, 2014
