Bazzaz Z-Fi TC Traction Control System Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R / ZX-6RR / ZX-636

Control unit is pre-programmed with an enhanced fuel map for the ZX-6R. If installed on a Zx-6RR a fuel map will need to be made. Dyno graphs on Z-Note were made using a ZX-6R.

The Bazzaz Z-Fi TC Traction Control System incorporates the Bazzaz QS4 Quick Shifter and Z-Fi Fuel Controller in one unit. This total package is for any rider looking for the highest level of performance electronics at an affordable price. The Bazzaz Z-Fi TC unit allows for faster lap times with better traction, faster shifts, and fuel tuning.

The Bazzaz Traction Control System is the first and only piggy back system that uses RPM data and not wheel speed sensors to determine tire spin. It cuts ignition for milliseconds at a time to maintain traction based on rider preferences.

The Bazzaz Quickshifter transforms any bike into a racing machine. It works by cutting the ignition for a millisecond at a time allowing for quick and seamless up shifting under full or partial throttle.

An engine's power is dependent on how well the air / fuel mixture is ignited in the cylinder. Air / fuel ratio (AFR) is controlled by the engine control unit (ECU). The Bazzaz Z-Fi Fuel Controller piggy backs onto the Engine Control Unit (ECU), intercepting the signal sent to the fuel injectors and changing it. The precise data for these changes are stored in the form of a fuel map. The Z-Fi comes pre-programmed with an enhanced fuel map for power gains and improved throttle response. With a proper fuel map the rider can expect a smoother and more responsive throttle along with horsepower and torque gains. Motorcycles with any modifications (such as exhaust or high-flow filters) must have fuel map tuned to accommodate the change.

Features:

  • Bazzaz Z-Mapper software makes it easy to view and adjust fuel maps, shift timing and traction control
  • Load and save fuel maps that are downloaded, manually edited, created on a dyno, or made with the Z-AFM air / fuel self mapper
  • Switch fuel maps on the fly with the handlebar-mounted Bazzaz Z-Fi Fuel Map Switch
  • Faster corner exit with controlled tire spin and improved traction
  • Traction control sensitivity and engagement are fully tunable by throttle position, RPM, gear and on the fly with the handelbar-mounted Bazzaz TC Traction Control Switch
  • Improves tire performance in adverse conditions
  • Optional Bazzaz TC Traction Control Light available
  • Made in USA

Note: Please check local laws before purchasing a Bazzaz Z-Fi TC Traction Control System. Some modifications may be prohibited in some states.

Serious Upgrade Ahead with this unit Bazzaz was well package and the instructions were 92% simple and easy to follow. The layout was a bit of a challenge. I would recommend reading the instructions thoroughly ((of course we all do ;) )) and lay out the harness accordingly and logically plan the routing. Its bike specific so my unit is supposed to sit up near my handle bars under the fairings. This was cramped and I saw no real way to make that happen. I ended up daisy chaining 3-4 zip ties and kept it drifting just below and behind my right fairing just above my flush mounted turn signal. Its snug but secure. Secondly, the instructions have you mount the fuel harness first then the coil harness for the (TC), this may be just my machine but it had me back track and take my air box off again to install the coil harness. I was changing out spark plugs so had they offered to install the coil first then the fuel harness it would have saved me 45min. Connections are solid and wrapped well the only real issue I had was the scotch-lock tap. I had no way to get my hand or a tool in there to firmly clamp it down so a needle nose plier, and punch tap and a very precise (lucky) strike helped me out. The quick shifter was easy to install but the leads were way to short to put anywhere convenient. I had to get creative with it hope it works out. I went ahead and mounted the supplied USB cord to the unit and routed it along the right side and back to the seat then finally under seat so I can access it there vs. taking my seat and upper fairing off every time. The software handbook seems easy enough but it’s freezing here so I won’t get a chance to try it until it hits at least 50 or so degrees. The Bazzaz site only has one 636 map on file so I guess I’ll be adding to it once I get access to a dyno. I’ll update this review in a few months once I’m done with the other mods or sooner if temps improve. RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Cedric M: Wanted to re-up my '05 636. Two Bros Pipes, K&N Filter, brakes, Rearsets and Ohlins-Dave Moss assisted tuned suspension the next logical step was the engine. On the fence about it but having Fuel Mgmt, TC and Quick shifter in the same package, which Revzilla did price match by the way, was what I wanted. The same features would be roughly $125-250 more individually from PowerCommander. With any new product their will be growing pains but they seem to have it figured out. Oct 20, 2014
