smooth power
It was an easy plug-in upgrade. I haven't tested it for changes in top speed, but with increased power or not, the z-bomb smoothed out my everyday ride considerably. It doesn't feel like riding a huge vibrator anymore. My everyday comute is at 80-85mph, but now I catch myself doing 90-100 all teh time cause it feels the same.

easy install. great benefits
with the incredibly easy install and instant benefits the z-bomb is an easy choice. With nothing but a 5mm hex, a screwdriver, and an 8mm socket this install is easy for anyone to complete in minutes. For best results the z-fi fuel controller and the self mapping tool should be used. I definitely recommend this product for anyone looking to get a little more out of their motorcycle.

Cheapest 7 HP you'll ever find
10 minute install to eliminate factory timing r-etard above 8k RPMs. Directions were perfect, install was easy and there is a noticeable difference above 10k RPMs.

One of the reviews mentions additional hardware to tune this device - is this necessary? And are there any long-term effects? Thanks
CraigCBR on Feb 14, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I don't think that's correct. The device simply tricks the bike's ECU into not retarding the timing at peak RPM's. Retarding the timing was done to reduce max decibel levels so it would meet U.S. noise standards. The Z-Bomb overrides a very specific function of the ECU, there is nothing to tune or adjust.

Installing a ignition tuning module would allow the ability to tune the bike's ignition settings, but it would negate the need for the Z-Bomb because now the owner can manually override the undesirable ignition settings from the ECU, including those at the higher RPM range.

I didn't encounter any adverse effects from the unit I installed in my bike. It's important to note that my bike is a 2013 CBR600rr and that model year changed the ECU programing and did not retard the timing at higher RPM's. Honda met the U.S. noise standards by improving the stock muffler. I no longer have the Z-Bomb installed on my bike. It had no effect on my bike at all: It neither improved the performance of the engine when it was installed, nor produce any adverse effects.

Much of this information was provided to me by a Dynojet tech.
I have a 2003 cbr600 would this be able to work and if not is there an alternative route?

BEST ANSWER: I asked a similar question to tech support at Power Commander and they said, "On American versions of the 2009-2012 CBR600RR Honda drastically retarded the ignition timing in the programming of the bike’s stock ECU at 100% throttle to reduce peak decibel levels. The IRC was a device we made to eliminate this restriction." He was referring the Power Commander's version of the Z-Bomb. According to this, the timing in your bike is not being retarded, so the z-bomb won't do anything. Retarding the engine timing was one of the ways motorcycle companies could get their bikes to pass U.S. noise restrictions. They also achieved this with muffler and exhaust system design. I think that probably is the case with your bike. I have a 2013 CBR600RR and this was exactly the case with my bike. The z-bomb had no effect at all. based on what the tech from Power Commander told me, your bike doesn't need and will not benefit from this type of device. If your looking to improve the performance of your bike's engine either by changing the fuel map or the engine timing, you will need to get one of the components specifically designed to do that.
