Patrick RStaff: Bassani does recommend a Stage 1 Download Remap for your stock ECU or a Power Commander or similar Fuel Management System. I have heard of bikes running exactly the same but have most often heard of there being a performance issue with the change in back pressure etc. To get the full intended performance out of an upgraded set of exhaust like this it is always best to replace the intake to a heavy breather and address the Fuel Management System. The difference between the Stage 1 Download is that it has set parameters and may or may not be the best settings for your situation. The advantage of the Power Commander is that it is totally adjustable and you buy the equipment once and can remap or adjust it as often as you need. Many riders do it themselves with their laptop which means there is no service bill from the dealership or shop. It comes with a CD and instructions. Most people I know have eventually done all three upgrades (exhaust, intake and ECU) and I don't know a single person that has ever switched it back to the stock setup. Sep 26, 2013
