A shopper asked:if I purchase this muffler, can i just bolt it on or will I need to have the computer re-mapped. if it needs to be re-mapped what will that require? just resetting at the dealer or will i have to buy an expensive module?May 11, 2014
Bryan J:If you just do slip-ons and have not modified the air intake then the EFI will adjust accordingly to the change in airflow. You do not need a tuner. The fuel injection system monitors the air/fuel ratio and is always aadjusting the mixture. The computer is capable of making the required changes to what is really a very small change in airflow with a slipon. You will be retaining the cat which is what really reduces the airflow in the exhaust system. Should you decide to replace your headers one day then you should consider a tuner, though it would still likely not be required but you wouldn't receive any performance benefit.Aug 19, 2014
Bradford O:I have a Vrod not a big twin but I believe the answer is the same. If you change exhaust and the motor breathes more you should have it tuned. Some people do not. But it will run even leaner than stock which could lead to engine damage. They do just bolt on on 30 minutes May 12, 2014
