Barkbusters Storm Handguards Single Side Mount 7/8" Handlebars

Maximum wind and rain protection for street and adventure-touring bikes! Storm Open-ended Backbone is designed specifically for street bikes and mounted to a single point on the handlebars. Fits 7/8" tubular handlebars using a two-piece clamp assembly which attaches to the bars just inside of the hand controls. There is no mounting point on the end of the handlebars.

Barkbusters Storm Handguards have an aerodynamic design and a larger profile that wraps around the hands to provide maximum protection from the elements but minimal crash protection as there is no aluminum backbone or handlebar end mount.

Barkbusters handguards were first manufactured in 1984 and now have over 28 years of motorcycle industry experience and riding enthusiasm. That history means Barkbusters has what it takes to produce the finest handguards available on the market today. In the unlikely event that you break a part of the handguard, every piece is replaceable.

Features:

  • Storm plastic guard with 7/8" (22.2mm) inner handlebar mounting brackets
  • Designed specifically for street bikes and mounted to a single point on the handlebars
  • Requires 18mm of free straight handlebar space to the inside of the handlebar controls to mount

Decent wind protection, mounts may hit tank
Went with these over Zeta guards to avoid having to mess around with or remove bar end weights. I had to angle them up a bit higher than desired to avoid the mounts contacting the tank at full lock. Wind protection is still good as evidenced by no longer needing to have my heated grips at 100% all of the time. It may be possible to mount them upside down on some bikes to get more clearance but the front brake reservoir prevented this option for me. I probably spent 30 minutes playing around to find the best mounting location but it really should be less than 5 minutes of actual work.

Not on a BMW 650GS
Bought and installed these on my 2015 BMW 650GS, and no matter how I configured them they hit the tank. After causing a gouge after a tight turn, I took them off and sent them back.

There should be a disclaimer as to how much range you should plan to lose if you buy these for the above listed bike.

Have used Barkbusters on all my off road bikes for many years. Most recent was my XR650R Honda and they worked great.

I've had Barkbusters Handguards on my dirt bikes. Good quality guards. For wind protection and from what gets thrown up from other vehicles. FZ-09

BEST ANSWER: I believe they will, but I would check with other dirt bike sites like Twisted throttle

Is there enough room to fit clamp behind the brake fluid reservoir?
