Barkbusters Storm Handguard Kit Triumph Tiger 800 / 800 XC / Explorer 1200

Maximum wind and rain protection for street and adventure-touring bikes!

Storm handguards have an aerodynamic design and a larger profile that wraps around the hands to offer excellent wind and weather protection. The wide profile is great for street riding and open trails. Storm Full-Wrap Backbone with two mounting points, this is the strongest backbone available, and is recommended for dual-sport and adventure touring bikes.

Barkbusters handguards were first manufactured in 1984 and now have over 28 years of motorcycle industry experience and riding enthusiasm. That history means Barkbusters has what it takes to produce the finest handguards available on the market today. In the unlikely event that you break a part of the handguard, every piece is replaceable.

Nice Protection I installed these on my 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer, they were very easy to install. Just bolt them on using the supplied bolts, fit perfect. They provide great wind and rain protection, should work great in colder weather (haven't had a chance to try them in the cold yet.). They are very sturdy with the aluminum back bone, and should provide good protection of the brake and clutch lever (I haven't had to test this either, yet.) They look great, I really like them and would definitely recommend these hand guards June 29, 2015
Better than OEM in price & protection! Easy to install.Looks like they will offer greater protection in case of tip over or crash. Also work great at keeping cool morning air,on hands at bay. May 19, 2015
Much better then the stock units Not to difficult to install, I had help from two dear friends May 11, 2015
great replacement for the cheesy stock plastic handguards on a Triumph 800 xc These are very well made and do their job, two weeks after installing these I dropped my 800 XC in the garage while working on it during a DOH! senior moment, we all have these, just admit it, No damage to any of the levers and you can't even tell I dropped it. I have been enjoying the better coverage the plastic offers from wind compared to the stock plastic guards. I have no doubt these will protect my levers from damage if I have issues on any offroad excursions. The fit and installation was a snap, seriously, it took maybe a half an hour to install and that was with a beer break and going super SLOW. April 13, 2015
They do the job! Great at keeping the wind off my hands, wore summer gloves on a cold-for-Florida morning and the Barkbusters worked well. I also have a Madstad screen, the sides of the screen and the bark busters just touch on full-lock, so I have added some small rubber pads so the screen doesn't dent the bark busters. The bark busters should be great for protecting the levers etc. should I drop the bike. A great Aussie product! January 5, 2015
Made for the Bike As the weather begins to cool down, these hand guards do wonders for keeping the bark of the cold off your hands. Installed them on my Triumph Tiger Explorer in about half an hour using simple tools (most of which I got from the OEM tool kit!). The metal bars are really where your money goes as they are sturdy and will likely take a fall well, protecting the brake/clutch levers. The color of the metal matches pretty well with the original handlebar making them look the part. The black guards are mostly there for the wind protection and protect they do but can't say I won't have to replace them after a hard fall. Probably will stand up to loose gravel, though. Can't comment on how much better they are then the handguards from triumph as I have never seen them side by side, but rest assured there is a forum topic out there about the subject I am sure. PERFECT! This is really perfect fit to my Triumph 800xc pretty solid bar and I always feel secure using this hand guard. February 10, 2014
Great for keeping the cold off your hands I live in the NW where it rains and gets down right cold. This storm guards have helped keep my hand warm during the cold weather as well as deflect rain away from my hands. This is a great product and has helped my riding experience become more comfortable. January 13, 2014

A shopper asked: Is the screw to secure these handguards to the end of the handlebar the same thread-pitch as the OEM 800XC bolts and the already installed anchors? If not, how do I remove the OEM anchor at the end of the handlebar to install your anchor? Jan 30, 2014

Brian R: Same thread pitch. Also, I bought the Kaoko Throttle Lock and added it without issues. This bark busters kit comes with two lengths of bolt, one for the Tiger 800xc and one for the Explorer 1200. The shorter is for the 800 and I used that on the left side. The longer I used on the right side because the throttle lock is essentially just a function washer/spacer. The anchor in the bars is also drilled all the way through so there is no worry of bottoming out the bolt that ends up going about .2" deeper than the original. And we therefore know we have plenty of bite on the threads as well. Use blue locktite. I also have the OEM heated grips installed, which I did myself and I have to say I think anyone can do it so long as they use fishing line and an 11" zip tie (with the square end cut off) to lace the line through the oem/stock bars to pull the wire leads through the tiny pre-drilled hole in the bars. All of it went together pretty easily. Jan 31, 2014

Douglas P: You do not have to remove the OEM anchor. The screws supplied with the handguards screw into the OEM anchors. The only issue I had when installing the handguards was on the clutch side. There is limited movement (adjustability) of the clutch lever in a more downward position for ridiing while standing. The clutch cable has to be positioned above the handlebar clamp which limits the positioning of the clutch lever. Barkbusters make an s-shaped connector which allows a more downward positioning of the clutch lever. Hope that makes sense. Feb 1, 2014

David P: The install kit for the barkbuster is bike specific, so, yes, the thread-pitch for the bolts that attach the backbone bar to the handle bars ends would be made to fit the 800XC. My kit was for the Tiger Explorer, but it included hardware to fit the Barkbuster to the 800. Jan 31, 2014

Jeff t: All of the hardware is included in the kit. The only thing you have to be carefule about is how the cables are routed to ensure you have lock to lock travel for thr handle bars Jan 31, 2014

Miles K: Yep, they're the same threading. These things are SUPER easy to install. An allen removes the OEM bolts, and the same allen spins the new ones in. Jan 31, 2014
