Perfect for the NC700x. Getting the Honda bar weights out!....
Left Side. Loosen the Honda black bar end weight on the left handlebar about a half inch using a Philips head screw driver keeping it screwed in about 1/4 inch. Next, roll back the end of the rubber handle bar grip until you can access the two tabs in the weight release holes on the handlebar. With the black bar end weight still attached, depress both release tabs. It is difficult to press both tabs at the same time. One option is to use a piece of coat hanger bent into a half circle with right angles facing in with 1/4 inch of wire that can go into the holes at the same time. Squeeze the ends this with a vise grip or clamp or something similar to apply pressure to both tabs at the same time. There are lots of options for this double press of the tabs, be creative. You may need to pry or individually depress the tabs or pull the tabs at the end of the weight clip to free and remove the weight bar.

Right Side. Loosen the Honda black bar end weight on the right handle bar about a half inch using a Philips head screw driver keeping it screwed in about 1/4 inch. Remove cable ties by pushing the tab and save any cable tie on the right handle bar. Loosen the hand break/assembly and move it gently towards the center of the bike about an inch or so. Remove the two screws on the forward facing side of the throttle assembly. Open the assembly to move it over an indexing notch that holds it in the correct position. You may have to gently turn the open assembly and throttle hand grip to move it enough to expose the two tabs in the weight release holes in the handlebar. As with the left side, you may need to be creative with your choice of tools to push both tabs at the same time. With the black bar end weight still attached, depress both release tabs and pull out the bar weight. There are lots of options for this double press of the tabs, be creative. You may need to pry or individually depress the tabs or pull the tabs at the end of the weight clip to free and remove the bar weight.

Barkbusters Storm - 2014 V Strom 1000 Install - Flawless
This product is everything that is promised with an easy install. The kit comes with everything you need to install as promised by Revzilla and Barkbusters. The fit and finish is flawless. The instructions included are precise, complete and easy to follow. The install took less than an hour and that was primarily due to taking pictures of the install as I progressed.

My only concern is with the plastic mounting hardware for the shields. I wish that Barkbusters had included aluminum inserts to attach the shield to the beautiful aluminum hand guards. We will see how this stands up over time.

The final installed product looks great on the bike and all of the pieces fit as they should to each other. Great job ensuring that all necessary hardware is included in the packaging.

I would recommend this product to anyone interested in additional protection for your hands and controls. The shipment was fast and the product was well protected in the shipping box.

Great for NC700XD
I took advantage of the sale and installed these on my NC700XD. I was very happy with the results. Installation is a challenge to remove Honda's bar end weights. You must access and depress the two button tabs during the bar end removal. This takes a second person helping. On the left bar you warm up and roll back the grip. On the throttle side you have to remove the throttle for access. In addition I covered and clamped a vice grip down on each weight and used a hammer to break them free while the tabs were pushed inside the bars. Installation would be MUCH easier if I kept the original Honda bar end weights and purchased longer bolts, but the Honda bolts have a smaller diameter and don't look as strong. There is some time needed to make adjustments to clear the switchgear and equally align the guards. I wish Barkbusters had a better system than 2 small screws embedding into the plastic for removing and installing the wind guard sections for summer/winter.

A must have product
Very easy install. My hands were getting so cold on rides even with good gloves but the Bark busters have done a great job of offering wind protection to my hands. They seem like they will also offer good protection in the event of a tip over too. I later added a Kaoko throttle lock that was specific for bark busters and it fit perfectly and was a snap to install. the Barkbusters took me about fiftten minutes to install. I highly recommend them. They look cool too on my Vstrom 650 XT!

Makes sub-35F rides bearable.
While they are a bit difficult to install, I blame Honda. The hardest part is removing the bar ends.

I put them on when mornings were still below 35F. Before them, even with my winter gloves, my fingers would become painful after 15 minutes of highway driving. After I installed them temperatures down to 27ish F were bearable for at least 30 minutes.

As to the strength and protection, I haven't run through branches in the woods, but I did drop the bike after not fully extending the kickstand. Without them it probably would have broken the clutch lever, but all it did was put a tiny scuff in the plastic shield where it hit the pavement.

Also, they look really cool.

Nice product, instructions could be better
Bought these for an NC700X. On the up side, they are very well made and the fit and finish is very good. The handlebar mounting mechanism (bar mounting piece) is pretty clever and it fits the bike well after a little work.

I tried installing them two different ways, one using their bar end weights and then the OEM weights. I decided to stick with the OEM weights and attach the guards without removing the OEM set-up. Using their set-up caused a fair amount of vibration in the handgrips. I would have preferred if barkbuster had just provided me with a longer bar end screw and let me install it on the existing OEM set-up instead of trying to create their own mediocre system.

However, that complaint aside, once they're on, it looks nice and should do the trick in the winter.

Great Weather Protection
These thing are a total pain in the butt to install, especially on the clutch lever side. That being said, now that they're on, they're fantastic. My hands have never been so comfortable riding! I'm a female rider and generally am the coldest one in the group. The other weekend, we rode through snow flurries and when we got off the bikes, I was still surprisingly comfortable. Several of the guys immediately got off and had to warm up their hands on their exhaust.

I have a CB500x and they fit the bike well. They do hit the windshield a little so it is no longer free to turn lock to lock, but it is only impeded a cm on either side at most. Nothing that will effect that actual riding or steering of the bike.

A great product from Barkbuster!
I ordered these from Revzilla and couldn't be happier with my purchase. Installation on my NC700X was not exactly difficult, but I did have a hard time with exactly which way the adapters went on. After thinking I had one side done, I started the other side which showed me I had installed the adapter wrong on the left side. The instructions were not terrible, but I think just a tiny bit more detail would have helped to avoid the adapter being put on wrong. Once installed they feel very sturdy and seem to add some stiffness to the handlebars. Three stars on finish due to still having machining marks on the aluminum backbones, I paid a premium price for these and would expect a little more finish. The Storm plastics I chose seem very tough and durable though, if a bit plain.

The Storm guards do a great job of protecting from wind and rain, they make the difference between numb fingers that were sore all day to fingers that just stung a little when defrosted with warm water. They do such a great job that I think I can do without the heated grips I wanted. I would also highly recommend the addional teardrop bar end weights. The steering felt light and quick with just the included weights, but there was noticeably more vibration. The external weights maintain a more stock feel and add a nice finished look to the bar end.

Overall, really happy with my purchase. My fingers are drier and warmer, also I am sure my Barkbusters are going to offer much more protection in the unfortunate event of a crash.

Solid Product
These were mounted on a VStrom DL650 and the installation turned out to be quite simple after I finally noticed how they had it installed in the install guide (meaning, orientation of the handlebar clamps), which turned out to be 100% correct for my bike. The guards look good and feel quite solid, although I have not yet gotten to take the bike out (winter in Colorado and all)

These things are great and make a tremendous difference keeping the wind off my hands. I don't use the bike off road so can't attest to it's strength smashing into things. It is solid though. I imagine it would protect controls as long as you you're not playing touch with a logging truck.

Have a broken brake lever, was broken when purchased the bike. Replacing the lever cost $88.62 and don't want to have to deal with ordering another lever in the future. Plus if I break the brake lever away from home would be in a bad spot trying to figure out how to ride the bike with no front brake. This product cost the same as other site, but get 5 zilla bucks and free shipping which the other sites didn't offer.

will the Barkbusters Storm work with Kaoko Throttle Lock Cruise Control?
JohnnyR on Sep 9, 2014
I live in Texas where rain and cold aren't really a common thing, but when it happens, boy does it happen. Are the plastic storm shield removable? Say I just wanted to run the bike with the aluminum guards on to feel the wind, but have that protection if my V-Strom went down. Could I do that and just keep the guards in handy for the winter months?
A shopper on Nov 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes.g You can use the Barkbuster Storm hand guard with the plastic hand guards not installed. When mounting this hand guard, the metal back bone is instalded first, then the plastic hand guard covers. Good luck and enjoy the riding.
Could you please confirm that this is the latest model of this kit for the 2012 Adventure V-Strom? The manufacturer lists the latest as "3" as shown below:

BEST ANSWER: I purchased this unit last month for my 2013 V-Strom Adventure. I live in Iowa and the bike is in the very cold garage so I have not installed it yet. I did hold it up and it looks like it should work. There was an error on the instruction page. I called Revzilla Customer Service and we got it figured out by looking at a picture of this unit on another site. The Service Rep said he would ask to get the instructions fixed.
Howdy

Will this fit Honda 250L CFR 2015?

If not , please reccomend a model that gives FULL protection for the 250L

Thanks
