Barkbusters Storm Handguard Kit Honda / Kawasaki / Suzuki
A great product from Barkbuster!
I ordered these from Revzilla and couldn't be happier with my purchase. Installation on my NC700X was not exactly difficult, but I did have a hard time with exactly which way the adapters went on. After thinking I had one side done, I started the other side which showed me I had installed the adapter wrong on the left side. The instructions were not terrible, but I think just a tiny bit more detail would have helped to avoid the adapter being put on wrong. Once installed they feel very sturdy and seem to add some stiffness to the handlebars. Three stars on finish due to still having machining marks on the aluminum backbones, I paid a premium price for these and would expect a little more finish. The Storm plastics I chose seem very tough and durable though, if a bit plain.
The Storm guards do a great job of protecting from wind and rain, they make the difference between numb fingers that were sore all day to fingers that just stung a little when defrosted with warm water. They do such a great job that I think I can do without the heated grips I wanted. I would also highly recommend the addional teardrop bar end weights. The steering felt light and quick with just the included weights, but there was noticeably more vibration. The external weights maintain a more stock feel and add a nice finished look to the bar end.
Overall, really happy with my purchase. My fingers are drier and warmer, also I am sure my Barkbusters are going to offer much more protection in the unfortunate event of a crash.

Perfect for the NC700x. Getting the Honda bar weights out!....
Left Side. Loosen the Honda black bar end weight on the left handlebar about a half inch using a Philips head screw driver keeping it screwed in about 1/4 inch. Next, roll back the end of the rubber handle bar grip until you can access the two tabs in the weight release holes on the handlebar. With the black bar end weight still attached, depress both release tabs. It is difficult to press both tabs at the same time. One option is to use a piece of coat hanger bent into a half circle with right angles facing in with 1/4 inch of wire that can go into the holes at the same time. Squeeze the ends this with a vise grip or clamp or something similar to apply pressure to both tabs at the same time. There are lots of options for this double press of the tabs, be creative. You may need to pry or individually depress the tabs or pull the tabs at the end of the weight clip to free and remove the weight bar.
Right Side. Loosen the Honda black bar end weight on the right handle bar about a half inch using a Philips head screw driver keeping it screwed in about 1/4 inch. Remove cable ties by pushing the tab and save any cable tie on the right handle bar. Loosen the hand break/assembly and move it gently towards the center of the bike about an inch or so. Remove the two screws on the forward facing side of the throttle assembly. Open the assembly to move it over an indexing notch that holds it in the correct position. You may have to gently turn the open assembly and throttle hand grip to move it enough to expose the two tabs in the weight release holes in the handlebar. As with the left side, you may need to be creative with your choice of tools to push both tabs at the same time. With the black bar end weight still attached, depress both release tabs and pull out the bar weight. There are lots of options for this double press of the tabs, be creative. You may need to pry or individually depress the tabs or pull the tabs at the end of the weight clip to free and remove the bar weight.

Pretty Nice Hand Guards
I bought these for a 2014 V-Strom after I had laid it down and broke the tip off the clutch handle. I wish I would have had them prior as they are very well built and very durable. Installation is fairly simple, although I did have to finesse them a little to get them on the bike. Take your time and you won't have much of an issue.
Overall, I'd say these are a great product and very suitable for the purpose. I really like the fact that you can purchase the backbones and then add different guards as your needs change. A couple screws and the plastic guards are off.
Very nice setup.

A picture's worth a thousand (curse) words
The product looks nice and sturdy. I'm sure it will perform just fine. But why, oh why, on a bike specific product couldn't they have included an actual picture of how the mounts are oriented when installed on the bike? I know somebody at Barkbusters has a camera because they clearly show the key-way inside the V-Strom handlebars. So why, when they were done installing a set to make sure they fit, didn't somebody say, "Hey, let's take a few pictures of this and put it in the instructions?"
So attached are a couple of pictures that should have been in the instructions in the first place. I hope this helps somebody.

These bad boys are worth it. Solid construction and pretty easy to install. I haven't run them through the ringer yet but they feel solid. This article includes how to install and pics that helped...

excellent product, better than the OEM handguards
Don't buy the OEM handguards for your V-Strom. They are more difficult to install and far less likely to protect your hands if something awful should happen. They are just a piece of plastic. The Barkbusters have an aluminum backbone, so they are much sturdier. They were also easier to install.

Great for NC700XD
I took advantage of the sale and installed these on my NC700XD. I was very happy with the results. Installation is a challenge to remove Honda's bar end weights. You must access and depress the two button tabs during the bar end removal. This takes a second person helping. On the left bar you warm up and roll back the grip. On the throttle side you have to remove the throttle for access. In addition I covered and clamped a vice grip down on each weight and used a hammer to break them free while the tabs were pushed inside the bars. Installation would be MUCH easier if I kept the original Honda bar end weights and purchased longer bolts, but the Honda bolts have a smaller diameter and don't look as strong. There is some time needed to make adjustments to clear the switchgear and equally align the guards. I wish Barkbusters had a better system than 2 small screws embedding into the plastic for removing and installing the wind guard sections for summer/winter.
