AXO Air Cage Armored Shirt

AXO's best value in upper body full coverage safety. The Air Cage uses a specially designed overlapping PU molded back plate system that leaves no open gaps even when fully flexed. Securely pinned to a open foam base the back PU, chest plates, biceps and lower arm areas cover all first impact areas of the upper body. A built in kidney belt holds the lower body in check and reduces the amount of movement of the Air Cage on the waist area. The forearms and shoulder cups can be held in place with the stretch Velcro straps. A center zip aids in putting on the Air Cage while the stretch mesh under body base conforms to the natural movement and shape of the body.

Super comfortable with good all-round protection Adequate upper body protection with excellent airflow. Adjustment straps ensure that protection will not shift during a mishap. This is super-comfortable - the first test was on a 70 mile trip (mixed technical and dirt roads)... I had no discomfort or issues with the Air Cage. The only thing I would potentially change when buying this again would be to try a Medium due to fit (lengthwise from the chest piece to the belt portion). Having said that, "diameter"-wise as well as arms are a good fit. ...I am 80kg and 1.8m tall... April 15, 2013
great coverage on the body have not worn much (work), but fits great, get one size larger then normal for you i am 5foot 10 at 200 pounds and the EX is a great fit. using this for under on the street can never have too much protection on. but if i have to have a get off, this will keep most if not all harm at bay. only thing i see "bad" so far is the front zipper should drop lower "ie" closer to the belt area. and the two front belt "grabbers" appear to be not so great but will see as time go by. hope they hold up to years. worth the price. Great product. I would recommend this jacket to anyone. This jacket is very light and breathable. The shoulders and chest are low profile enough to put a sweat shirt on over it and not look like a linebacker, but yet it has all the protective features it needs to protect you from a spill. The only thing i would change is the front zipper. It should zip a bit further down, your waist strap is an inch or two from the bottom of the zipper. Also buy one size larger than what you usually wear. If you wear a L buy an XL. September 17, 2012

A shopper asked: On a really hot day, could this be worn on top of just a tee shirt? Oct 3, 2012

pieterdp: In terms of impact protection (e.g. MX tracks or slow, technical trails) - NO PROBLEM...

However, if you ride high speed dirt roads or adventure trails and hence need abrasion protection, I would recommend a good quality cordura / leather jacket (with protection removed). The mesh "shirt" of the Air Cage allows for ample airflow and is therefore in itself good clothing to use on a really hot day, but the mesh wouldn't necessarily resist tears or friction damage during the "slide" (IMHO)...

RevZilla: Yes, you can wear the AXO Air Cage Armored Shirt over a regular t-shirt. However, keep in mind that this product was designed for dirt bike use, but not street riding. Oct 3, 2012

A shopper asked: as in having to deal with 100F + temps. Aug 7, 2012

RevZilla: The AXO Air cage does allow air to flow through and cool the rider. The base layer is a mesh shirt, and most of the armor pieces have some kind of ventilation implemented into their design to allow air to move through as well. It would likely keep someone cool in weather up to about 85-90 degrees, but this will vary from person to person based on their individual temperature tolerance. It will also depend on the other gear that you are wearing and how fast you are traveling. Aug 9, 2012

pieterdp: The "Shirt" portion keeping the various protection pads in place is constructed of a mesh material with rather spacious holes. Air flow will not be restricted with this armor, but rather other shirts / jackets that may be worn in conjunction herewith. Apr 15, 2013
