A shopper asked: Does this installation require removal of the plastic backing plate on a 2014 HD FLHX? Also with the Big Sucker; if the backing plate is removed is the look similar to other BS installations in that one can see the filter element. I had a BS on my 2009 Road King and use the OEM filter cover however could readily see the filter. Jan 3, 2015

Richard D: Yes. Per the instructions for my 2014 ultra limited, which looks to be the same as yours, the back plate comes off an I am using the stock cover. I can not easily see my filter but if I could, the amount of airflow is worth it over stock. What else you putting on yours? fuel mgmt, exhaust?? Jan 6, 2015

Matthew B: Yes, the backing is removed. I don't feel that you can see the element once the OEM cover is re-installed. You can put your finger down in and hook around the cover and feel it, but it does not stand out visually. Jan 6, 2015

Jeremiah M: Yes you do remove the stock backing plate. As for seeing the air filter you can, but you have to make an actual effort to try and see it. I was wanting mine to look like factory and it does. Jan 6, 2015
