Nice shield with good tint & clear view
I ride in New Mexico, where it's almost always sunny. The Arai XD-4 helmet leaves plenty of room to wear sunglasses under the normal shield but I prefer minimizing the bulk and number of pieces of gear I wear whenever I'm able. This shield gives me a nice tint to tame the bright sun but is still nice & clear with a great field of view. I did not need to adjust my helmet at all - I simply removed the clear shield and snapped this on and the fit was perfect. I definitely recommend this shield.

This is my second one - scratched the old one beyond repair. They have added the brow vents to this version and it's really slick airflow.

Not too dark to see out. Great visor.
My sunglasses were leaving my ears sore. This visor is just as dark as my sunglasses, which are fine until the sun goes down. Great product.

Love the tint
Never had a tinted shield. Well now I'll never not have one.

Not What I was Expecting
So my initial review of the XD4 was an excellent helmet, fits very comfortably (oval head), not too noisy, a little on the heavy side, great air flow, however the chin strap snap broke in less than a year...props to Arai, they repaired at no charge, and were a pleasure to work with. Now the downer part of the pinlock system...with the added thickness of the pinlock lens, it now catches on the helmet gasket every time when opening and closing the visor...this has lead to the pinlock lens seal being broken after only three rides!!! and in turn rain water has made its way in between the pinlock lens and the shield, which has also lead to some fogging. And now with the additional weight of the pinlock lens to the shield, the shield/lens will not stay open at various positions as it did "pre-pinlock". Arai reps in Allentown, PA apparently contacted the designers in Japan, but no word back on a fix. Bottom line, the pinlock system is looking to be a waste of ~$85, and if Arai cannot come up with a fix, I will most certainly begin looking for a replacement helmet (and be weary of other Arai products), as all these issues contribute to distractions while riding, particularly in rain/damp conditions, which no rider can afford to have. Very unfortunate for what I thought was an excellent all around helmet.

Just as describer
After an off highway adventure left my face shield scratched up due to all the fine sand and dirt, I ordered a replacement for it. Easy to switch out and I am back to seeing again
