Arai XD-4 Cheekpads

Replacement cheek pads for use with Arai XD4 Helmets.

All cheek pads are interchangeable between the different helmet sizes.  Remember, if you need more room in the helmet you need to order a smaller (thinner) cheek pad.  To make a helmet tighter, you would need to buy a larger (thicker) cheek pad.

Headache Relief
Purchased a Small Arai XD and I kept getting a headache during long rides that started from my sinus area and worked its way to the top of my head. The helmet size was correct and I guessed that the headache I had might be due to the pressure from the cheek pad being exerted on my sinus. Swapped out the cheek pad for one size smaller and now have yet to experience a headache. So something worked.

FYI: The cheek pad size reduces the overall length not the thickness.

A bargain at almost any price
This is the second Arai I've owned, the first having been in the late 1980's. Why I didn't buy another one after that one I don't know...probably too cheap to realize what the quality was. At any rate, BEST HELMET I HAVE EVER OWNED! Hands down. I've been riding since 1974. I've owned Shoei's, HJC, and Airoh (British brand), and the Arai. It is by far the quietest and most effective helmet. Not only does it protect you from the pavement if such happens, but it FEELS GOOD!! Much quieter than riding without a helmet, great eye protection, the vents REALLY work, and the finish is amazing. I will NOT doubt Arai again.

Arai cheek pads & the helmet
Riders understand its the crown of the head which should be used to properly fit a helmet which is precisely what I used when purchasing my Arai helmet. Unfortunately the cheek pads were too tight which another way to say it is my cheeks were too big for the helmet. Rather than the manufactuer taking into consideration the variance in head sizes, Arai choose to go with the one size fits all, pass the cost onto the customer approach. The small cheek pads fit perfectly but at a cost of $49 plus shipping/handling. With any luck Arai will offer different cheek pads at the point of sale someday... and I want a pony.

Just what I needed
my xd4 was slightly large for my head so I ordered thicker cheek pads and helmet liner to make the helmet fit tighter. Success. I feel much more secure. I ordered a medium helmet, when I should've ordered a small. Glad these items are available for a better fit

Custom fit a plus for Arai Helmets
I am hard to fit. This adjustability made all the difference comfortwise.

The cheek pads that came in the XD-4 were not thick enough to keep the helmet from rotating a little on my head.

I have an Arai XD4 helmet which I use regularly. I need a replacement cheek pads/comfort liner to use when I wash the original cheek pads and liner.

I bought an XD4, but am having trouble fitting it correctly. Large was very clearly too small, but XL isn't snug enough. Ordered the thicker comfort liner, too. Refer to the Arai website to see what thickness of these two items comes in your helmet, and to see the options, and to get the right replacement liners and cheek pads. (Liners are numbered, and don't all fit the same sized helmets,)
Russell B on Jun 9, 2014
I Like having an additional cheek pads to swap out on longer multi-day rides. At the end of the day, just pull out old stinky, sweaty cheek pads and swap in the fresh set and your ready for a new day of adventure!
Rob R on Apr 27, 2014
Pretty simple actually. Asides from the cheek pads in my "large" Arai XD4 being a bit to tight after 60 minutes or so, it was your decision to add the sizing chart showing the options and whats comes standard in the helmet. I surfed Motorcycle Superstore, ADVDesigns, a couple of others only to come back to the most professional online site in the industry today. By the way, NEVER but NEVER discontinue the online product videos with "The Dude" who covers each product thoroughly.

Stock Cheekpads were to thick. I removed 5mm layer and cheeks were still pushed into my teeth.

What size cheek pads come in the XXL size of the XD-4?
A shopper on May 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, I don't know. I have a medium helmet and I was getting sizes from 20mm to 25mm.
What size are the stock pads? Lost weight need a tighter fit.
Bob C on Aug 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Medium size helmet have 25mm standard size cheek pads
what color are these? The liner in my helmet is gray. I'd like for them to match.
Peter Z on Aug 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I can't say for all of them, but the ones I purchased are identical to the ones that came out of the helmet, except for size. It is difficult to tell the difference unless you look at the markings on the back.
What size cheek pads are standard on the XL size? How about for the comfort liner?
Matthew R on Aug 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Matthew, 20mm is the standard cheek pad size for the XL XD-4. You have the option of going to either up to 25mm or down to 15mm, depending on how tight or loose your current fit is.

Keep in mind Optional interior liners and cheekpads of different thicknesses allow you
to custom fi t your Arai helmet. To order a liner of a different thickness,
start with the Lining Code that matches your helmet size, than specify
the desired thickness. For example, an optional 5mm liner for a large
helmet would be specified as a “III-5mm” liner.

Lastly, the standard liner in the XL XD-4 is 7mm and can go up 10mm or down to 5mm.
I went with 35mm cheek pads and Type III 12mm on my Med XD-4 just to get a snugger feel and knowing I could always remove the 5mm on the cheek pads if needed.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Darcy
I tried on a Medium with Small cheek pad at a store and it works great. Can anyone here confirm what size mm is for the small?
Giuseppe M on May 10, 2016
I tried this helmet on at the store, size Medium with size small cheek pads. What mm corresponds with the small cheek pads? I see in another question that Medium is 25mm, does that mean small is 20mm?
