Arai Signet-Q Pro Tour Tactical Helmet

The Signet-Q Pro-Tour takes all the favorite features of the RX-Q and Signet-Q helmets to create a whole new series based on Arai's many innovations, including the radical new Pro Shade System which operates as both a peak and as a sun shade. The Pro Shade System is a small peak that is locked in position. Unlocking is easy; just pull the Pro Shade System forward, then it can be flipped down with a flick of the hand to act as an effective sun-visor.

On the outside, the Arai Signet-Q Pro-Tour Helmet looks very similar to it's namesake, the Signet-Q, but features several innovations on both the inside and outside. A longer shell shape on the Arai Signet-Q Helmet gives 5mm more space front to back allowing for a larger number of heads to fit comfortably. The shape of the Arai Signet-Q Pro-Tour Helmet releases forehead pressures and eliminate hot spots for a more comfortable fit every time.  This shape works best for riders with a long oval headshape.

Features:

  • Pro Shade System for dual sun-blocking capabilities
  • Eco-Pure Liner is anti-microbial
  • Ear pockets have been redesigned to better accept communication speakers for a more comfortable fit
  • Both the top vent set and side exhaust cowls are direct carryovers from the RX-Q Helmet
  • Brow vent ducting redirects to flow air across the temples
  • DDL-4 exhaust vent to the 10mm wider eye port (5mm on each side)
  • Long Oval Fit
  • SAI "MAX-Vision Brow Vent" shield
  • Clear Pinlock Max-Vision Brow Vent Pinlock lens included
  • Elongated shell adds 5mm from front to back
  • Long-Oval shape helps prevent “Hot-Spot”
  • Multi-Density Single piece EPS liner
  • Removable, replaceable, washable interior
  • Dry-Cool Surface material for rapid displacement of heat and moisture away from your head and into the ventilation airflow for added comfort while riding and a quick dry between rides
  • 5mm peel-away temple pads adds another level of customization, giving the helmet interior a little extra width when needed
  • Enhanced for customizable micro fitment interior without the need to purchase extra interior components
  • FCS (Facial Contour Support) cheek pad design
  • Innovative and exclusive spring support adds just the right amount of pressure when needed while being worn
  • Meets or exceeds Snell and DOT standards

Signet Q Pro Tour - Glasses Wearing Commuter - Good Option
I bought this helmet for two reasons:
1. It was time to get a proper helmet and stop wearing my old autocross helmet. But, if that was the only criterion, a much wider net could be cast searching for the right one
2. As a glasses-wearing commuter rider, I chose this because of the external sunshade. I didn't want to carry around sunglasses every time I rode anywhere.

Now, a few comments about it.
Fit of the helmet is great for us long, narrow oval types; Arai makes a helmet for every shape and this fits me. My genetics make this a good fit. Bearing that in mind, if this helmet fits your head shape, it fits well. It's snug all the way around after a brief break in. Much quieter, lighter, and overall more comfortable than my previous (though not a fair comparison).

Regarding the feature that made me select this, the external sun visor, I have a few additional comments. First, I think it looks a little dorky (but the camo offers a nice balance). I'm still trying to convince myself that if it's light enough to see the visor up, tough, then I'm likely going to have the visor down. That is, the only time the visor's up and is in the dark. ...and I look great in the dark!

In full sun, the visor isn't as dark as I'd like, making me still need to squint a bit due to brightness. Also, others have mentioned that it doesn't cover the entire field of vision, but it's still pretty good. I do get the occasional glare from the gauge or something else, but all told it works as it was designed. To that end, I don't carry my sunglasses anywhere unless I'm going to wear them off the bike, too. So, I think the helmet is a good solution for the glasses wearing commuter rider.

The helmet vents well for being as snug as it is, though I have yet to wear it in hot weather. It's light, and the field of vision is much wider than my last bucket (again, not a fair comparison). In total, I'm satisfied with the purchase despite groaning a bit at the price. Hopefully it holds up well, and so far shows no sign of issue during the ~1 month of riding.

Top quality lid with exceptional features
Basically I think this is one of the best helmets I have ever owned.

To get the right head shape with the extra 5mm front to back is a dream come true.

The features are second to none, including the ear cutouts for a comms system, the ventilation is unbelievable and the drop down visor is also excellent. I wear Transition Lens glasses which mean I get the best of both worlds without having to stop to change visors.

I highly recommend this helmet and Revzillas customer service is second to none. Astonished that it arrived in a double packed box to Australia from the USA in 3 days. 3 days! Outstanding!

I have written a more detailed review on my first impressions on my own website if this is allowed, read more here: http://dailybikers.com/arai-signet-q-pro-tour/

Great low noise helmet
This was my first high dollar helmet purchase, what a difference. It is small (doesn't give you the bobble head look), light, quite, and flows a ton of air. The tinted removable visor is a nice feature and the vents are easy to operate with gloves on.

My only small gripe is the chin strap closure snap. It is not the easiest closure system to operate. I've had lower end helmets that had easier to operate chin strap snaps. But after wearing it for a couple weeks, you get used to it.

Great Update for us L-Os
Took this one out a few times now. I was due to replace my Arai Profile. I thought the Profile was the perfect fit for my dome (Long-Oval). The Signet-Q is a little more narrow than even the Profile. I pulled out the 5mm peel-able foam slices from both sides, and the fit is dialed in. Fits exactly like the Profile now (both helmets are Medium). The wind noise is...decent at-speed. Venting is a tad better than the Profile. It seems like a good volume is flowing through. Visor has been completely fog-free so far. I ride to work whenever possible, and this Pro Shade system works as advertised. Push it in to lock it either open or closed, and it's not going anywhere. Perfect for mixed-light rides without stopping. Finish is great. Pads are better than the Profile, and it is easier to get in and out of it, even before it's broken in. Overall excellent helmet, but you're definitely paying for it at his point in it's life-cycle.

This helmet fits my head really well. I'm curious about the shade system since as a glasses-wearing commuter, I think it might be a nice feature to have riding during sunrise and sunset.

I have a XXL head with a long oval shape. I was tired of the pressure of my Shoei Neotec on my forehead. This helmet is much quieter and has greater field of view. The shade visor would be better if it was a shade or two darker and covered a little lower on the face shield. This fits great and ventilates very well too.

I don't buy their argument against an internal visor or the fact that they won't make a flip-up helmet which are features that I would prefer.

I have an Arai head.

Love the graphics, looking forward to trying the sunvisor

I have been a long time customer of Arai helmets. The fit and finish is always top notch. The helmet "fits" me like a pair of bedroom slippers. For someone with a Long oval shape head there is no substitute

Would you please tell me if the Pro Shade System on the Arai Signet-Q Pro-Tour Tactical Helmet can be removed for riding without the shade system?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, in the video they show that the Pro Shade system is easily removable from the visor. You can also order a tinted visor with no Pro Shade system.
