Provided a better fit than standard liner.
One of the reasons for buying Arai is the ability to get a good and comfortable fit. Moving to the thicker liner allowed for a better fit while still having the Signet-Q long shape.

I had no idea
When I bought my Arai Signet-Q, it had a great, snug fit and didn't smell weird at all. After about 17,000 miles of riding, I decided it could a freshening, so I bought a replacement liner. It feels like a snug, new lid now, and doesn't smell weird anymore. Yes, I'm aware that they're washable, but that never brought back the springiness that it originally offered. Treat yourself, but a new liner and give your skull the soft embrace it deserves. Or don't. I'm not the boss of you.

Easy way to slightly snug up the fit of your Signet-Q helmet.
I wanted to make my Signet-Q (XL) helmet fit a bit more snugly, so I ordered this thicker comfort liner. Shipping was amazingly fast, and I got the new liner installed in seconds. Definitely helps tighten up the fit, not a huge difference but worth doing.

tightened up my helmet perfectly
I have a 56.5cm head and a SMALL Signet-Q and had trouble with the breath deflector ending up on or under my nose sometimes at higher speeds and winds. After a call and a chat with Revzilla, I ordered the 10mm liner. This tightened the fit and lifted the helmet just a bit more on my head. Now, the overall fit is much better, and the deflector at high speeds rides just over my nose. It's also still very comfortable for long touring rides.

Kent B:I went from the standard liner to a thicker 10 mm one to tighten up the fit a bit, so I can't answer your specific question with 100% confidence, but I think the thinness of the liner is equally distributed throughout the padding. In other words, if you go from a 7 mm liner to a 5 mm liner, all of the pads (top, sides, front, back) are 2 mm thinner than the 7 mm liner's pads.
I doubt you will notice a huge difference in fit going from a 7 mm liner to a 5 mm, but it may be enough to make the helmet more comfortable. Hope this helps!Apr 23, 2014
Steven H:Comparing the 10mm and the 7mm I would say all over. I needed more space front-to-back since the aspect ratio of my head is even narrower than the narrow Arai. Remember, you can leave [or remove] the inserts in the sides. With the 7mm I left them in.Apr 23, 2014
