I had no idea
When I bought my Arai Signet-Q, it had a great, snug fit and didn't smell weird at all. After about 17,000 miles of riding, I decided it could a freshening, so I bought a replacement liner. It feels like a snug, new lid now, and doesn't smell weird anymore. Yes, I'm aware that they're washable, but that never brought back the springiness that it originally offered. Treat yourself, but a new liner and give your skull the soft embrace it deserves. Or don't. I'm not the boss of you.

Made my head hurt worse, Revzilla will not refund or exchange even though they recommended the product.
I spoke with someone on the phone about my helmet telling them about the pain I was having after riding for an hour or more. The "geek" recommended I buy a larger 12mm lining for my helmet, so I did. This liner is 2mm thicker than the 10mm that came with my Arai helmet (Signet-Q medium). The helmet hurt much more with the 12mm liner in. Revzilla says I cannot exchange it or return it because I wore it. How else would I know if it fit? I have purchased numerous items off of Revzilla and I am very mad about this purchase. The liner is not cheap and the helmet is very very expensive. As of now I have spent about $700 between the two and I have a helmet that causes horrible pain after about an hour of riding. My advice, call Arai before you do or buy anything. They are much more knowledgeable than the people at Revzilla. I really like Revzilla so it bothers me to have to leave this review but right now I am not a happy customer.

tightened up my helmet perfectly
I have a 56.5cm head and a SMALL Signet-Q and had trouble with the breath deflector ending up on or under my nose sometimes at higher speeds and winds. After a call and a chat with Revzilla, I ordered the 10mm liner. This tightened the fit and lifted the helmet just a bit more on my head. Now, the overall fit is much better, and the deflector at high speeds rides just over my nose. It's also still very comfortable for long touring rides.

Provided a better fit than standard liner.
One of the reasons for buying Arai is the ability to get a good and comfortable fit. Moving to the thicker liner allowed for a better fit while still having the Signet-Q long shape.

Easy way to slightly snug up the fit of your Signet-Q helmet.
I wanted to make my Signet-Q (XL) helmet fit a bit more snugly, so I ordered this thicker comfort liner. Shipping was amazingly fast, and I got the new liner installed in seconds. Definitely helps tighten up the fit, not a huge difference but worth doing.

If the Arai Signet Q is slightly too big... get this insert
My other Arai helmets have all been Mediums, but the Signet Q was just a tiny bit loose. It did not ride up at speed or move around, just did not fit like the RX-Q and other models. I know that the head shape is more round for this model so that might have been part of it. The 12mm insert seems to be the perfect update. Fits snug, but not tight.

I am a big fan of Arai and my next helmet will be another Arai.

I hope this can split the difference between a XL and L (have a 60.5cm head) so the L helmet will fit without leaving a red mark.

I love my Arai Signet Q but after 2 years its time to replace the comfort liner specially since I am getting new cheek pads

Needed to snug up my fit a little. The newer model Signet Q seems to run slightly bigger than the older model.
John C on Jun 21, 2015
I was a getting a slight hotspot on my forehead and I'm hoping the 2mm less of padding will be enough to make me comfortable again.
Robert T on Mar 24, 2015
Love Arai. Great product. My Signet medium fit good, it is just a tiny bit loose. So the 12mm liner should do the trick.
KirkFromWork on Mar 5, 2015
My old liner smells like balls, and not in the good way, if there is such a thing.

So in the Arai Signet-Q, the medium and large are the same helmet except for this liner and cheek pads?

If I go from the 7mm liner to the 5mm liner, where does the 2mm come out of? Top?, sides?, front-back?
Benjamin R on Apr 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I went from the standard liner to a thicker 10 mm one to tighten up the fit a bit, so I can't answer your specific question with 100% confidence, but I think the thinness of the liner is equally distributed throughout the padding. In other words, if you go from a 7 mm liner to a 5 mm liner, all of the pads (top, sides, front, back) are 2 mm thinner than the 7 mm liner's pads.

I doubt you will notice a huge difference in fit going from a 7 mm liner to a 5 mm, but it may be enough to make the helmet more comfortable. Hope this helps!
