Nice and must have for daily commuters in a cold weather I got this mainly to prevent fog on the shield while commuting daily basis on a public road where many stops and go happen during rush hour. With this shield, I am literally fog free. Great product and very easy to install and maintain. I got both clear and dark smoky inserts along with this shield. Dark smoky is pretty useful. During daylight, I insert it. Occasionally when I have to ride at night, simply I take off the insert to make it more visible. October 20, 2014
Great I was using the old style pinlock for a few year and it was scratched from sitting in my tank bag. This new one is great, optically better than the old style. Definately worth the upgrade. Fits perfectly as Arai gear always does. Not cheap but the best never is. September 1, 2014
Just like new I really like this visor. The brow vents work as advertised, and I run a pinlock insert so it doesn't fog. The only thing I'd like is for the visor to have more UV protection. August 18, 2014
this product is as described Easy to install. No distortion. Exacting tolerances. Works as it should. Impressive! July 14, 2014
Great shield I produce a lot of body heat so I fog up lenses easily especially at night. When I ordered this shield and pinlock insert (not included), I no longer had fogging issues. June 17, 2014
PINLOCK CHANGES EVERYTHING! A must have for riding. no fog, using light smoke insert and it is good at night too. super happy with it all. April 21, 2014
Fianlly a product that nails it's purpose! This is suppose to remove fog. I was riding in cold weather where fog is more prone. This shied (along with the inlay) did just that. It removes fog. It's light, easy to add/remove and seems durable. Awesome product! April 7, 2014
Excellent anti fog visor I got this visor for my winter commute in NYC. All I can say is that it works like a charm. 20 degrees, slow stop and go traffic and I could not make it fog up even when I tried to breath directly onto the visor. And it's not even expensive compared to other brands. March 23, 2014

I still have not learnt the art of the quick Arai visor change.

Richard W: I love my Arai helmet, I love my new bike and I plan to ride well into the cold weather season. Fog on the shield is the key limiting factor for cold weather riding, so I decided to give the pinlock system a try. Oct 9, 2013
Daniel W: To replace a scratched shield. Sep 5, 2013
A s: currently have the stock face shield and i have had it fog up dramatically and extremely quickly. felt it was time to get the pinlock. wish someone had talked to me about it when i bought my helmet. Aug 31, 2013
Austin C asked: Does the outline clear edge bother anyone once you get a smoked insert. I feel like it would be very annoying. Also, what does it look like from the outside, can you see the outside rim? I am deciding if this is worth it, or should I just get a smoked stock shield. Aug 7, 2014

Alf M: I don't think the clear edge of the shield showing thru has any impact on visibility at all. In my opinion the pin lock system really demonstrates it's value when there's a significant temperature difference between the outside air and the air inside the helmet (ie cool fall and spring days). In the summer I use the stock single shield since it's hard not to get dings and scratches and it's cheaper to eventually replace compared to the pin lock. Aug 8, 2014

James S: The outline clear edge is over the helmet. Not you're field of view. I actually liked this for the look of the helmet. Getting a full colored shield covers up some of the designs around the eyes. Basically, the insert covers the span of the opening and the clear is over the helmet designs.

It's not noticeable while wearing it. And when you're not wearing it, you can see all of the artwork on your helmet :)

A s: If you're in a climate where your shield fogs up easily, it's worth it. I don't recall if you can see the clear rim looking in but looking out is fine. If fogging up isn't a problem, check out the new arai shield with the flip down shade. It take a few minutes to get used to but is really nice. Aug 8, 2014

Sherman L: You really cannot see the clear outline as it is either out of the field of your vision or it overlaps the bottom of the helmet.

I have used Shoei for years...I am so glad I have an Arai with a pinlock. I only wish I had one sooner.

A shopper asked: Why does this not come in different tints? Aug 3, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
A s: This is a pinlock face shield and you can get different colored/tinted inserts. My Shoei has different colored face shields but only a clear insert. One could argue that the inserts are cheaper to buy than the face shields. Aug 4, 2014

Antony A: You buy colored inserts for it. The "Pinlock" locks the inserts into the main faceplate. It totally eliminated any fog issues I had all year long. I highly recommend it. Aug 4, 2014

Samuel H: It needs to be clear because the Max Vision Pinlock inserts come is a variety of tints. If you want a dark tint shield, get a dark smoke insert. Aug 4, 2014
Reply to Samuel Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Scot S: I think the idea is that the inserts are tinted, so you wouldn't want to have a tinted shield 'stacked' on-top of a tinted insert. Aug 4, 2014

kevin o: Unless things have changed, it comes in multiple tints. Mine is a smoked grey color that I've been really pleased with. Aug 4, 2014

A shopper asked: Does this work with the Vector 2? I don't see this version, with the brow vents, as an orderable part from Arai for the Vector 2. I only see the version without brow vents. Can anyone confirm that this shield is compatible?

How does the anti-fog capabilities of this, along with the inserts, compare to the Arai Dual Pane SAI shield? Is there anyone that has tried both that can give some insight?

Thanks,

WCS4th: The Arai SAI Max Vision Pinlock Ready Shield absolutely works with the Vector 2 - I am using it right now with mine. I was able to get the Max Vision with the brow vent option - maybe it wasn't available yet when you were trying to order yours.

Check out the Arai page on the Max Vision shield. It sold me on buying one. If you don't see the link below - just go to the araiamericas webpage and select the Vector 2 helmet. There should be a link on the right side of the screen for this shield.

I haven't used the Arai Dual Pane SAI shield. But after riding in the cold and cool mornings this spring and having the regular Arai shields fog like crazy, these shields don't fog at all. These are incredible. It was like a completely different ride not having to worry about my shield fogging.

Safe riding!

Chris K: This is compatible with the Arai Vector 2 and is the newest version that allows for the brow vents.

To compare with the Dual Pane shield, I don't think that the anti-fog properties are much different, however, the Dual Pane will allow for a larger field of vision. The downside is that the Dual Pane is not really removable, whereas the Pinlock can be switched out as needed.

Hope this helps!
