Arai RX-Q Scarab Helmet
Arai is the best.
This is my third Arai helmet and we have 5 Arai's in family. I was in one accident and the helmet, Quantum-II mfg in 11-03, literally saved my life as it was slammed onto bowling ball sized rocks with my head inside. I didn't even get a headache! Excellent product!

Great fit and performance
This is the best fitting helmet that I've tried yet. I've tried on every helmet that I could get my hands on, and this one conforms to my head the best. Arai is great for taking into account different shaped heads in their design. I didn't have to remove any of the adjustable pads. This helmet fits me like a glove, it's light, comfortable, aerodynamic, and the best venting helmet that I've owned.
The previous helmets I've owned are icon (medium), joe rocket (large), kbc (large), and shoei qwest (large). I really liked the shoei, but shoeis just do not fit me right. I must be between a large and a medium in a shoei. The medium squeezes the side of my head, while the large is just too loose. The fitment issues aren't something that cheek pads will take care of.
If you are in the same size range and head shape, I recommend trying one of the following arais in either large or medium: vector 2, RXQ, or the corsair V. Arai takes into account rounder shaped heads in these models, and it makes a world of difference in comfort and performance. The helmet does not shift when a cross wind hits or when you do a lane check, and it is extremely light.
I chose a medium since I plan on doing some track days and really want a snug fit even after it breaks in. I'm really happy with my choice. Out of the box, the helmet was snug without being uncomfortable. I think a large would've been very comfortable, but may have broken in a little too much.
I ordered the helmet in black frost, which looks like a matte black. This finish is much better than other matte finishes such as shoei's. Other matte finishes have a rubbery feel that damages easily, while Arai's has a hard, smooth feel that holds up much better.
The only thing that I like better from my shoei is the larger chin cover which keeps out more wind and noise, but this isn't a game changer for me.

Great protection and noise level for a 3/4 helmet
Great protection and noise level for a 3/4 helmet. Relatively quiet for a 3/4 as well. Fit is nice and tight and I like the added protection (extended jaw protection on newer model).
I have had prior Arai models as well and was always impressed with the quality. Expensive but worth it.

Lightweight and comfortable
Very comfortable and lightweight helmet. Cheek pads much too tight so I ordered the thinner ones.

good inexpensive helmet
This is my third of this series, I like, don't love them, but I have an oblong head shape and Arai is the only helmet that fits me without headaches. I recently had a Shuberth and it was much lighter and much quieter, but didn't fit my head so I'm back to Arai and earplugs. But one can't fault the quality of the protection, as I was in a serious accident with serious blunt force trauma to my head and I survived. So I recommend them, just wish they were quieter.

Feels amazing. I was planning on getting a cheap helmet, but after trying this on I was sold. It's pretty quiet inside and the view is wide. It does tend to fog up while stationary when it's cold out, but I just crack open the shield to get rid of it. The vents keep my head cool when the it's hot out.

Great touring helmet...a bit loud for cruisers
I've had this helmet for about a season and I feel I can point out a few of the good and bad attributes.
Pros: First off, this helmet is comfortable and fit around heads perfectly. I have the small helmet and it feels a bit snug, but that's because the padding encompasses your whole face without being restrictive. The air circulation to keep good is pretty good. Little to no wind noise.
Cons: this helmet does tend to fog up very quickly when stationary, especially in temperatures below 60F. The helmet gets pretty darn loud if you ride a cruiser. The shell actually amplifies the sound and it's just deafening. I would advise you to wear earplugs. I can't speak for sport bikes, but that V-twin rumble reverberates inside the helmet like no other. As for wind and road noise, it's quiet.
Conclusion: I would recommend this helmet to anybody looking for quality and comfort. Noise levels do get bothersome with louder bikes. Good investment overall.
