I finally got around to spending a little more money on a nice helmet and was not disappointed by the Arai. They are more expensive but the discounts and zillabucks helped to lower that cost to a manageable price. The design and feel of the helmet are exceptional and Arai is the best in the business for a reason. The paint on my RX-Q Talon is not done justice by the internet pictures. There are many fine details you just cant pick up without having this baby in your hands. The price tag is a little bit high but your noggin is worth it. Revzilla had my helmet here in 2 days with free shipping and a great price. Never had any issues with these guys and I love my new helmet.

Upgraded from an old Arai Quantum helmet that was much to old to still be using. Nice fit with great ventilation and the Mamola color scheme is a close match to my red/silver/black RC-51.

My previous helmet was an HJC CL-16 and I decided to upgrade because the visor latching system was a piece of junk.
Let me just say I could not believe the difference in the liner comfort. This helmet is like wearing a pillow, I could sleep in it. The venting is superb, all it takes is the slightest breeze to get air flowing.
My only complaint is changing visors is somewhat of a hassle compared to the HJC.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Bought the RX-Q after reviewing many. My helmets have been a 3/4 with flip shield and fixed liner and a full carbon fiber half helmet. Have ridden a maxi-scooter and a large cruiser. Just got a Goldwing, so now you have a little info to judge my opinions. I have always gotten an XL. My size from the Arai chart fell between L and XL. I went for the XL since I like to wear a balaclava under the helmet in the winter. Tried it on as delivered. Couldn't close my lips for about 20 minutes from the cheekpad pressure. It did get better. Pressure around the head ("protecting your head not your face") was very snug, but didn't feel hot or painful. Pulled the cheekpads and removed the top layer of soft foam. This helped quite a bit. Installed a headset/microphone set. The pocket for the ears is incorporated into the cheekpads so this is where the speakers have to go. The microphone is velcroed on the panel in front of my mouth off to the left. I didn't want to cut into this panel since I believe it has air ducts etc for the mouth scoop. This micro is larger than some higherend products and ends up touching my lip. One ride of about 60 miles was not painful, the sound was good and I learned to ignore the thing touching my lip. Noise level was less than my half helmet (duh) in relation to wind, but engine/tranny noises were more noticeable, probably since the wind was reduced. I could tell when I opened the vents on top. Seemed on the verge of fogging when stopped, but I did not use the feature that lets you crack open the edge of the shield and still hold it down. The shield seemed good when locked open at speeds up to 40 (my wife wanted my face protected from insects), but this was on a Goldwing so it is hard to say how good it would be on an unfaired bike.
My wife used the retractable chin deflector which helped, but does not cover as much as some add-on styles I have seen. Field of vision is very good. This is one area I was very hesitant about since a half helmet like I had been wearing (and will continue to use for the daily commute) has no vision issues at all.
If I had it to do over, I may have opted for the Signet-Q from Arai which is a bit longer front to back and can be ordered with communication equipment installed by the electronics company.

I am very happy with my Arai purchase. This my first personal helmet so I can't really comment on comparisons to other brands except for the Shoei Quest that I wore during my motorcycle training. The Shoei may have been mislabeled a medium because it fit way too tight.
I was fortunate to get my Arai at closeout pricing which made it well worth the pricing, IMHO. My head size is between the small and medium according to the sizing chart. I originally made the mistake of ordering the medium first. It fit just a tad too large and I didn't feel comfortable keeping it. Revzilla has a terrific exchange policy so I was able to return it for a small. I was a little apprehensive at first, fearing the small would be too small. Once I received the small, all my apprehensions were put to rest. It fits snug and is not too tight. After wearing it for more than a week it is even more comfortable.
My only complaints about the helmet is that the shield will occasionally fog up and I'll need to crack it open to let it clear up when at a stop.
Yes, I recommend this product.
