Arai Corsair V Nicky 4 Helmet

The Arai Corsair V Helmet proves again that Arai’s main focus is the experienced rider who knows what a real helmet should do and have. It doesn’t fling fashion at you; it advanced the art of building better helmets for riders. Its improvements and innovations reach down to the smallest details. Why? Partly obsession. Partly because Arai believes every part of a helmet is interrelated in both design and function. We don’t believe in change for the sake of change, fad, or marketing “shock” value.

Features:

  • Newly designed shell with Hyper-Ridge around the bottom enhances shell strength while providing a larger bottom opening
  • Larger bottom opening promotes ease of putting on and taking off the helmet
  • Peripheral belting across the forehead area of the shell enhances structural integrity while maintaining flexibility, low weight and shell size
  • Larger upper vent tabs make operating the vents easier even with thick winter gloves
  • New Arai “SAI” shield with Super AdSis shield system
  • New “SAI” shield is 5mm longer in each side and provides a wider field of view
  • New “SAI” shield and base plates are exclusive to Corsair V helmets
  • Latest generation of Dry Cool line has a new silver-grey color
  • Rear mounting straps are slightly re-positioned exclusively to the Corsair V
  • Neckroll is removable and has additional exhaust channels to remove interior heat
  • Cheek pads have the exclusive Emergency Release Tab feature
  • Newly designed side exhaust cowls exhaust heat as well as add lateral stability at speed
  • Enhanced air inlets of the new DF-9 diffuser increase airflow efficiency
  • Brow vents now duct air into the temple area and out the side vents for maximum cooling
  • Exclusive AirWing provides unprecedented aerodynamic performance with 5 distinct positions
  • DOT approved
  • Snell M2010 Certified

Fogging is a bummer Best helmet I ever bought, worst shield fogging wise. I love this helmet. The colors pop and Nicky Hayden is the MAN!!! Yeah 69! However the shield fogs like a nightmare. I bought a Gold Mirror for 80 bucks and it still fogs. Contacted Arai and they told me some high tech feature which basically meant cracking the shield open. They also recommended a pinlock but for another 65 dollars they can keep it. Other than the bummer shield its worth every penny. July 31, 2014
Finally Got one. Corsair V After owning and trying other helmet brands, I finally scored an Arai. First of all, these are hand made, and everything Anthony says about this product is true. There is a reason why they dont have any dramatic changes. It is because it works and there is an Arai difference. The Corsair V is good because it has a good shape and it also offers optional liners to really tweak the fit. What I like about it: Good comfort like my AGV Gp Tech. Feels small and light like my HJC RPHA 10. And great vision like my Shoei X-11. I have a 57cm head, and that just perfectly, even after the break in process. Don't be intemidated by the shield system. I like it and is very easy. Lastly, Arai and Revzilla have awesome customer service. Easily call or email them, you will get a person on the other side. Not a robot. July 24, 2014
An all around excellent helmet! I've been known to put a couple helmets to the test. My first helmet was a Arai RX-7 Corsair that saved my life after going down at around 100mph. I absolutely love the Corsair and the new Corsair V is everything the predecessor was and then some. With noticeably higher visibility and improved aerodynamics its worth every dollar. June 23, 2014
Solid track and street helmet I recently crashed and damaged my Arai Corsair V--John Hopkins Monster Replica helmet and needed a replacement. I loved this Arai so much that I had to replace it with another great looking helmet. The fit is very comfortable and Arai offers multiple cheek pads to allow for fit adjustments based on facial shape. The helmet vents air superbly with all vents open. Originally, I thought the adjustable wing on the back of the helmet was a gimmick. After a long ride on the coast with a stiff breeze and another following trucks on I-5, I can tell you that when you adjust the wing to its sweet spot it makes a difference, reducing the buffeting forces on the helmet. Warning: In the winter the cold really seeps in, even with all the vents closed. Consider another helmet model if routinely riding in temps below 50-F/10-C. June 5, 2014
Corsair V Great helmet with high speed stability, I am very happy with my purchase. April 28, 2014
Amazing Quality I have not yet had the chance to ride with the helmet, but my immediate impressions is WOW! Coming from a Bell RS-1, the fit and finish on it it truly astounding, it just screams of quality. The visor automatically locking takes some time to get used it, but it's a nice safety feature. Originally I had considered the Schuberth SR1 and the latest Shoei RF, but I'm glad I went with the Arai, it fits my head PERFECTLY (slightly oval shaped) and I am now a lifelong Arai fan. I highly recommend this lid to anyone who is willing to shell out the big bucks for big quality April 27, 2014
Exellent I bought it as a gift for my husband -He Loves It ! March 3, 2014
AWESOME Arai ! Second to none just watch the pros. Got the steal of the century off RevZilla on this helmet. Super light for all the protection it offers. Super wide view. I cannot wear my old Shoei or Bell now because the restricted views in them compared to the Corsair V. I have a bad neck also and cannot turn easily so this wide view is now a must. Thanks RevZilla. A shopper asked: Hi, Im looking for the best helmet for forward viewing when in the full tuck position. I have an Aria RXQ and an AGV GP Tech. Both are great helmets but when im in the full tuck (chin on the tank) on my Ducati 998 i cant see forward very well; the top of the viewport obstructs my vision.

What helmet should I purchase? My budget is $1,000.

Scott B: This is a great helmet. Excellent visibility and light weight. I don't have any visibility issues. My other (gathering dust) helmet is a scorpion and I returned an AGV on my way to this helmet. One thing to check before you blame the helmet is the thickness of the collar at the back of the neck on your suit. This can push the helmet down on the eyes if too substantial. Either way, you'll love this helmet.

Size is right and, if I remember right, the shape is more round than oval.

Steve T: Hey Bro.... I have both the Shoei X12 and the Corsair V and from the tuck position they are pretty similar.... Which is fair at best.... I am an Arai guy overall.... I think head shape is usually more of an issue.... I feel that the Arai has more room in the neck area that gives you more room to flex your head back to see while getting after it.... I hope this helps....
