Arai Corsair V DiSalvo Helmet

The Arai Corsair V DiSalvo Helmet proves again that Arai’s main focus is the experienced rider who knows what a real helmet should do and have. It doesn’t fling fashion at you; it advanced the art of building better helmets for riders. Its improvements and innovations reach down to the smallest details. Why? Partly obsession. Partly because Arai believes every part of a helmet is interrelated in both design and function. We don’t believe in change for the sake of change, fad, or marketing “shock” value.

  • Newly designed shell with Hyper-Ridge around the bottom enhances shell strength while providing a larger bottom opening
  • Larger bottom opening promotes ease of putting on and taking off the helmet
  • Peripheral belting across the forehead area of the shell enhances structural integrity while maintaining flexibility, low weight and shell size
  • Larger upper vent tabs make operating the vents easier even with thick winter gloves
  • New Arai “SAI” shield with Super AdSis shield system
  • New “SAI” shield is 5mm longer in each side and provides a wider field of view
  • New “SAI” shield and base plates are exclusive to Corsair V helmets
  • Latest generation of Dry Cool line has a new silver-grey color
  • Rear mounting straps are slightly re-positioned exclusively to the Corsair V
  • Neckroll is removable and has additional exhaust channels to remove interior heat
  • Cheek pads have the exclusive Emergency Release Tab feature
  • Newly designed side exhaust cowls exhaust heat as well as add lateral stability at speed
  • Enhanced air inlets of the new DF-9 diffuser increase airflow efficiency
  • Brow vents now duct air into the temple area and out the side vents for maximum cooling
  • Exclusive AirWing provides unprecedented aerodynamic performance with 5 distinct positions
  • DOT approved
  • Snell M2010 Certified

An all around excellent helmet! I've been known to put a couple helmets to the test. My first helmet was a Arai RX-7 Corsair that saved my life after going down at around 100mph. I absolutely love the Corsair and the new Corsair V is everything the predecessor was and then some. With noticeably higher visibility and improved aerodynamics its worth every dollar. June 23, 2014
Solid track and street helmet I recently crashed and damaged my Arai Corsair V--John Hopkins Monster Replica helmet and needed a replacement. I loved this Arai so much that I had to replace it with another great looking helmet. The fit is very comfortable and Arai offers multiple cheek pads to allow for fit adjustments based on facial shape. The helmet vents air superbly with all vents open. Originally, I thought the adjustable wing on the back of the helmet was a gimmick. After a long ride on the coast with a stiff breeze and another following trucks on I-5, I can tell you that when you adjust the wing to its sweet spot it makes a difference, reducing the buffeting forces on the helmet. Warning: In the winter the cold really seeps in, even with all the vents closed. Consider another helmet model if routinely riding in temps below 50-F/10-C. June 5, 2014
Corsair V Great helmet with high speed stability, I am very happy with my purchase. April 28, 2014
Amazing Quality I have not yet had the chance to ride with the helmet, but my immediate impressions is WOW! Coming from a Bell RS-1, the fit and finish on it it truly astounding, it just screams of quality. The visor automatically locking takes some time to get used it, but it's a nice safety feature. Originally I had considered the Schuberth SR1 and the latest Shoei RF, but I'm glad I went with the Arai, it fits my head PERFECTLY (slightly oval shaped) and I am now a lifelong Arai fan. I highly recommend this lid to anyone who is willing to shell out the big bucks for big quality April 27, 2014
Exellent I bought it as a gift for my husband -He Loves It ! March 3, 2014
AWESOME Arai ! Second to none just watch the pros. Got the steal of the century off RevZilla on this helmet. Super light for all the protection it offers. Super wide view. I cannot wear my old Shoei or Bell now because the restricted views in them compared to the Corsair V. I have a bad neck also and cannot turn easily so this wide view is now a must. Thanks RevZilla. corsair arai Beautiful helmet, super light, great comfort especially roomy for ears and lots of vision. January 21, 2014
Spend on your lid I had ridden in 2 consecutive Corsair's over 12 years. I saved money and went with an RF1100 last season only to realize I'd been spoiled by the Corsair's lightness, air flow, and fit. In comparison, the RF 1100 is a heavy head roaster that looks like a bubble. The Aoyama 3 I've just received is dramatic in person. In places color fades from grey to sliver to blue and back again. This adds something extra special to the overall hard to beat black and white scheme. I'm stoked. It's gnarly, fast looking and goes with pretty much any color bike. Especially my black STR. And nothing beats the snug sharp look of a "race fit". Cheers Aoyama, Arai, and ZLA. December 18, 2013

A shopper asked: Can someone tell me what's the difference between this model and the rx-7 gp? I can only get the latter in my country apparently corsair v is a discontinued model.. thanks Jun 10, 2014

David R: I had a RX-7 from 2002 to 2008. The main difference is the top scoop-vent and "wing" between the two "exhaust-vents". Also I believe there is also an upgrade to the internal cheek-padding for removing the cheek pads to facilitate an emergency worker to remove the helmet in the event of a crash. I hope this helps.
