Arai Corsair V Crutchlow Helmet

The Corsair is Arai’s flagship model. An Arai helmet is not the product of compromise, of a "profit" point, or a board of directors. An Arai helmet is the product of obsession, an ongoing obsession to design and build the best helmets possible. This year Arai took the Corsair V Replica helmets to a new level. With several new features, you’ll see why the world’s best wear the Arai Corsair V Helmet.

  • Arai’s exclusive, adjustable new AirWing® is designed to greatly reduce drag, turbulence and buffeting resulting in more comfort and additional top-speed.
  • The new wider eyeport required a new, wider faceshield. Called the Series "I" faceshield, it is exclusive to the Corsair-V. The new shield fits even more flush against the shell than the previous Corsair’s.
  • Newly equipped with ‘’Air In Stabilizer’’, an additional air intake between the front and rear intake in the diffuser and large toggles. The Air-In ports help accelerate air out the back, increasing airflow without increasing the size of the holes in the shell.
  • The biggest difference between the newest generation of Arai’s Hyper-Ridge feature and its predecessors sticks right out at you: Whereas the previous ridge curved in, this one flares out. This results in a larger opening at the helmet’s bottom, making the helmet easier to get on and off.
  • Both cheek pads and the neck roll can be removed in seconds thanks to the advanced Emergency Release System. Rescue and medical workers can easily remove the newly designed removable neck roll and the cheek pads by just pulling the pad release tabs. This offers extra room within the helmet, making removal of the helmet much easier and minimizing the risk of additional injury.
  • The Corsair-V’s neckroll is now removable and replaceable, and adds an additional exhaust vent through its bottom via shallow channels in the EPS liner, adding yet another ventilation outlet for the removal of interior air.
  • Snell M2010

Arai Corsair V Crutchlow Helmet RevZilla Opinion:

If you are a fan of our boy Cal Crutchlow or just a Monster Energy enthusiast, the Arai Corsair V Crutchlow helmet gives you the Monster sizzle to go with your steak. We have seen the Arai Corsair V perform at the highest level of race helmets over the last few years. The shape and profile of the Corsair V are pro level racing optimized and the weight savings and comfort features do well to keep the rider, racer or trackday enthusiast focused on his line. Bottom line, the Arai Corsair V is an amazing sport and race helmet, the Crutchlow replica graphic adds a nice stylistic touch.

Helmet is great for the track. Very light weight with terrific ventilation. I also have a Shoei X12 and am very pleased with it as well. The corsair v fits my head a little better and is lighter but the X12 has a little better vision and is quieter. Very happy with both helmets.

I bought this as my very first helmet on the recommendation of another rider. I absolutely LOVE riding in this helmet! While it is made for the tuck position, it is not uncomfortable or cumbersome to wear in an upright or 3/4 riding position. That being said, once you get into a full tuck, you truly notice the level of performance that this helmet is designed for. I live in Texas and when wearing this helmet I am never finding myself thinking about how hot the helmet is. The vents do an excellent job of keeping hot air out and cool air flowing in. The visor has an exceptionally wide field of vision as well.
If you are looking for the BEST helmet on the market, this is the must have for you.

My wife of all people pushed me into spending the additional $ for my birthday this year. I purchased this helmet in frost black. There is nothing on this helmet that doesn't scream badass, quality, safety, and comfort. ARAI truly knows how to make a helmet in every direction. This is probably my 10th helmet in the last few years and this is my top shelf "special" ride and track helmet.

Dreams do come true. I never though that I might buy this helmet. I always said there is no way I will pay 800 dollars for helmet NO WAY and here I am with a new Corsair V Rea helmet. I must say this helmet rocks big time.
Its amazing right of the box.
You can see money signs on it NO just a joke.
Quality is a main character of this helmet.
Super stable at any speed. I think when you invest these much money its got to be perfect. The only downside is how come chin strap has nothing to soften a strap when fastened on the chin.
I mean for 800 plus its a shame in my opinion but its might be for a reason not there to provide maximum contact with skin.
The inside liner is soft but not as much as RX-Q. Dont get me wrong its awesome helmet but some people forget that they ride motorcycle not a cadillac. Deal with noise, soft or ruff liner.
Please fellow riders dont expect Bilt to perform same way as Arai.
59.99 vs 800 and up helmet. Always remember You get what you pay for it.

Pictures don't do this helmet justice!!! Looks just awesome in person! The brightness on the colors make it almost an effective high visibility without being the typical hi viz yellow. Have had some issues with fogging when it was 30 degrees out. But you can manage and if needed there are the pin lock options, I might consider buying that.
The fit is snug, but probably because I have always been wearing a helmet one size too large. I was very concerned with the snug fit, because I was worried it could be too tight!! But the guys at Revzilla were awesome and even looked at pictures on my head shape and measurements I emailed them. That was amazing customer service! They were right, after just wearing it to work five times with a commute of 30 minutes each way, it doesn't feel too tight at all.
I haven't been able to try it in the heat, but with the temps up to 50 on my commute home, I opened up the top vents, and wow it vents!!!
Highly recommend!!!

right off the bat i'm going to need a dark smoke shield. this is a $800+ helmet, whats the deal with the shields? like most helmets it ships with a clear shield, but then you are selling dual panes, inserts, tear offs (i know these are for racing), pinlock inserts...the list goes on.

I'm a Bell Star guy, they make things fairly simple. If I am to get into the Arai game, can someone please explain to me what I need to be equipped with a dark smoke shield for sunny street riding conditions. Thanks.

Answer:
In order to be equipped with a dark smoke shield you will have to buy said shield separately as Arai helmets only come with a clear shield
If you want/need NO FOG AT ALL you will need a Pinlock visor - whatever brand of helmet you choose.
They are entirely worth the money! But that is a different issue ...

Whichever your brand of helmet just make sure it fits properly, otherwise you have wasted your money

Answer:
The graphics on the Arai Corsair V Aoyama are red with orange insets/accents.Toward the bottom of the helmet the gradient goes from black to red. Just above the visor line there are burnt orange stripes that separate the red from the inset orange (red outlines). As the orange moves toward the front of the helmet it blends to back to red. On top, on the vent channels, the red blends to a dark red (again as an inset) then back to the bright red. All through the colors it has a fine metal flake so it sparkles in the light. Overall I say it's red (and I went to art school and worked as an illustrator) but you have to see it - pictures don't do the paint job justice. It's really awesome and has a lot of subtle blends and details.

How does the sizing of the Arai Corsair V compare to an Icon Alliance helmet?

I have an Icon Alliance helmet in XS -- it fits tight but well and comfortable. I am looking to upgrade to an Arai Corsair V. Looking at the sizing chart, seems that I should order a size S in the Corsair V, but typically S is too big for me. Does the Corsair V run small and I should order it in S or does it fit more like the Icon Alliance (and I should therefore stick with an XS)?

Answer:
Hi Thomas,
Icon and Arai have similar dimensions for their XS sized helmets; both accommodate 20.875” to 21.25”. The Arai Corsair V tends to have a slightly round shape, as opposed to the Alliance which is more neutral. The benefit is the Corsair may provide you more room side to side. Where does you Alliance feel snug?

Answer:
I'm not familiar with the Icon but used the size chart and the RevZilla video to determine the size of my Corsair V and it was dead on. The Arai website has a lot of sizing information too (http://www.araiamericas.com/). My advice is to get a cloth measuring tape, measure your head like the video shows, and then go with the chart. Head shape is a factor but Arai recommends changing the comfort pads if the regular ones feel too tight or loose. Give RevZilla a call if you are still not sure.

Answer:
The short answer is: Definitely.

This helmet does not limit your riding posture, or put you in a disadvantage when not riding tucked.

Imagine a normal helmet, with the visor extended up about an inch. It gives you flexibility, but does not limit you. The features are optimized for the tucked position or a race oriented driver without sacrificing anything for the average joe.

Answer:
It can be. But it's made for the tuck, and way better in the tuck. If you want this helmet and ride more not tucked then tucked I suggest the RX-Q. Basically the corsair modified for street use/not full tuck.

Answer:
Not quite. With some rubbing alcohol and a bit of elbow grease you can get it to come off, but they install them very well so it takes a bit of work.

Yes, all the ARAI logos are just stickers which can be removed. It also comes with extra stickers in case you wanted to reapply it later.
