AltRider Triumph Tiger 800XC Skid Plate

Where you see riding and adventure, your engine sees rocks, ruts, and danger. Make your next ride fun by keeping it safe for the vulnerable parts of your bike – install the AltRider Skid Plate for the Triumph Tiger 800 XC.

Made of 1/8 inch (3.175 mm) thick anodized aluminum, it offers substantial coverage to your headers and oil filter. AltRider worked hard to incorporate their corrugated plate design, adding strength where you need it most  while simultaneously protecting the fasteners and maintaining light weight. The skid plate mounts using OEM vibration isolation mounts to help absorb impact, as well as the stock bracket to keep the plate from twisting and shearing the vibration isolation mounts unnecessarily.

Wherever you ride, be prepared by installing the AltRider Skid Plate for the Triumph Tiger 800 XC.

Features:

  • Compatible with OEM center stand
  • Oil plug can be accessed with skid plate installed. Skid plate needs to be removed to change the oil filter

Specifications:

  • Made of 1/8 inch (3.175 mm) thick anodized aluminum
  • Height: 21 inches
  • Width: 14 inches
  • Depth: 8 inches
  • Weight: 4 lbs

well made and looks good doing it Good coverage and a thick plate is what I was looking for. Well designed and constructed. July 21, 2014
Solid This item was the perfect replacement for the stock plastic one which seemed a bit flimsy. Removed the stock item, put a couple of "L" brackets on it and it is now a shelf in the mancave. The new skid plate looks better and will better protect the underside of the bike. The only tricky part of the install was keeping the spacers in alignment while installing the fasteners on the two front mounts. A dab of grease works wonders, the remainder was easy. Would make this purchase without hesitation again. June 23, 2014
A well constructed product that will more than do the job. First, the construction and finish are first rate and the fact that it is designed and built in the USA is an added bonus. I could not give it 5 stars because the mounting holes did not line up on three of the six points and the use of loose spacers made installation far more involved than necessary. I would certainly buy and recommend the product again, however, installation is not trouble free. May 28, 2014
Perfect protection and safety Spent a fair amount of time looking for the best skid plate for my bike. I wanted something that looked good and was safe. I wasn't too concerned about the price just because i know a higher price meant a higher level of protection, which is a top priority for me! The first installation was a bit tricky but after taking my time and observing, I was able to to a complete oil and filter change including removing the plate in 25 minutes. So i'd say it's fantastic! I beat it up a little from some offloading i did and can say the plate looks barely nicked but i heard several rocks hitting the plate, meaning it's sturdy! The pictures are to show it fits with ease with the Triumph OEM crash bars and center stand. Feel free to ask any questions. April 17, 2014
Great product holds up well, doesn't just look pretty Haven't had this long but have already put it to the test and it does very well. I like the welded construction vs. the rivets of many other plates. A quick note on install. It is was not super easy but not extremely difficult either. It's made to go on a stock bike so you may need to do a bit more tear down than the instructions say (like I did due to engine bars I had already on plus the fog lights' harness, blech). Excellent product. A little costly but you get what you pay for. Easy to install. Nice hardware. Finish looks great. August 12, 2013
Perfect weight & fit I definitely wanted something lightweight as I recently helped a friend install a steel skid plate. This skid plate is very well built and lightweight. Looks good on the bike as well. Having only installed it a few days ago I have not "tested" it yet, but I look forward to it. Regarding installation, an extra pair of hands helps. The instructions are very clear, however it is a bit difficult to align all the screws, hold the plate, and tighten one at a time. Other than that installation took about 30 minutes. Definitely recommended. July 1, 2013
Pricey, but Awesome This is a great product. I was hesitant to pay more for a skid plate than I did for my crash bars, but ultimately I feel this piece is very solid. Great finish, installs in minutes, and it gives you the piece of mind you need to hit the dirt. Very well made and protective. June 3, 2013

Scott T: Thanks Yohan B for the quick response. Do you have a 2013 Tiger 800 XC as well? Apr 17, 2014
John B: Just did something similar to mine last weekend. Factory center stand is not in the way when installing the skid plate. I can't confirm the crash guards, I put the ALtrider guards on mine and really like them. Bit of a pain as the mount to the frame, but I think they provide better protection. Just my .02.

The Altrider skid plate is a beast. Huge improvement over the OEM plastic one. My Triumph is also a 13.

John T: I ordered and installed the skid plate prior to installing the Alt Rider crash bars. I was easily able to install those crash bars after the skid plate was on. I don't know if the OEM crash bars will work with that combination or not.

I am sorry I wasn't able to offer more help.

Miles K: I can't speak to the OEM crash bars, but I have the OEM center stand installed with the AltRider skid plate and it works like a dream. I'd imagine there wouldn't be any issues with the lower bars either. Apr 17, 2014
