AltRider Skid Plate Triumph Tiger 800 / XC / XCX / XR / XRX

Where you see riding and adventure, your engine sees rocks, ruts, and danger. Make your next ride fun by keeping it safe for the vulnerable parts of your bike – install the AltRider Skid Plate for the Triumph Tiger 800.

Made of 1/8 inch (3.175mm) thick anodized aluminum, it offers substantial coverage to your headers and oil filter. AltRider worked hard to incorporate their corrugated plate design, adding strength where you need it most  while simultaneously protecting the fasteners and maintaining light weight. The skid plate mounts using OEM vibration isolation mounts to help absorb impact, as well as the stock bracket to keep the plate from twisting and shearing the vibration isolation mounts unnecessarily.

Wherever you ride, be prepared by installing the AltRider Skid Plate for the Triumph Tiger 800.

Specifications:

  • Made of 1/8 inch (3.175mm) thick anodized aluminum

Perfect protection and safety
Spent a fair amount of time looking for the best skid plate for my bike. I wanted something that looked good and was safe. I wasn't too concerned about the price just because i know a higher price meant a higher level of protection, which is a top priority for me!

The first installation was a bit tricky but after taking my time and observing, I was able to to a complete oil and filter change including removing the plate in 25 minutes. So i'd say it's fantastic!

I beat it up a little from some offloading i did and can say the plate looks barely nicked but i heard several rocks hitting the plate, meaning it's sturdy!

The pictures are to show it fits with ease with the Triumph OEM crash bars and center stand.

Feel free to ask any questions.

Solid
This item was the perfect replacement for the stock plastic one which seemed a bit flimsy. Removed the stock item, put a couple of "L" brackets on it and it is now a shelf in the mancave. The new skid plate looks better and will better protect the underside of the bike. The only tricky part of the install was keeping the spacers in alignment while installing the fasteners on the two front mounts. A dab of grease works wonders, the remainder was easy.

Would make this purchase without hesitation again.

Perfect weight & fit
I definitely wanted something lightweight as I recently helped a friend install a steel skid plate.

This skid plate is very well built and lightweight. Looks good on the bike as well. Having only installed it a few days ago I have not "tested" it yet, but I look forward to it.

Regarding installation, an extra pair of hands helps. The instructions are very clear, however it is a bit difficult to align all the screws, hold the plate, and tighten one at a time. Other than that installation took about 30 minutes.

Definitely recommended.

Great product holds up well, doesn't just look pretty
Haven't had this long but have already put it to the test and it does very well. I like the welded construction vs. the rivets of many other plates.

A quick note on install. It is was not super easy but not extremely difficult either. It's made to go on a stock bike so you may need to do a bit more tear down than the instructions say (like I did due to engine bars I had already on plus the fog lights' harness, blech).

Installs easy, looks great, need to really test durability.
Maybe I got lucky but it was the fastest farkle install so far, I was out riding in less than 20 minutes. Everything lined up perfect. It looks really solid, especially compared to the stock and does not impede anything else that I can see. Lets see how messy my next oil change is, the hole looks to be in the right place but smaller than the stock.

It looks great and covers a lot, could possibly come up a little higher in the front is my only issue. Hence the 4 stars for performance. Not cheap either for a bit of folded aluminum, but not as expensive as the stuff it covers.

Pricey, but Awesome
This is a great product. I was hesitant to pay more for a skid plate than I did for my crash bars, but ultimately I feel this piece is very solid. Great finish, installs in minutes, and it gives you the piece of mind you need to hit the dirt. Very well made and protective.

Solid choice to protect your belly
This is up there with the rest of the AltRider products that I have seen. No rivets or crews holding it together, just a nice, welded item, with no fitment issues.

Mine has taken a good amount of rocks and debris, with only minor marks which are to be expected, while protecting the vitals completely.

Saved my bike!
This skid plate is extremely tough and well constructed. I was riding single track on my Tiger 800 with a friend on a KTM 990 when we hit a section of large boulders. He was in front of me and cracked his case open on one of rocks (it went straight through his KTM plate), I hit the same rock immediately after and the AltRider skid plate saved my bike. It took a VERY hard hit and sheered all the rear bolts off and was left badly dented and hanging on by the front bracket. I had to replace the skid plate, but $300 vs. the thousands my friend spent seems like a good trade!

Can I install Altrider skid plate with the Triumph (OEM) Engine crash bars installed on a 2013 Triumph Tiger 800 XC. Can I also install a factory center stand with bars and skid plate installed? Thanks
Scott T on Apr 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes to both of your questions! I have the OEM crash bars and Center stand and the plate fit without a problem!

Did an oil change last week and removing the plate and all took me 25 minutes!
Can I install the Altrider skid plate on my 2011 Triumph Tiger 800 WITH the SW Motech center stand?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, I installed this unit on my '12 800 "Roadie". Easy install, nothing to move or remove. IMO, the best choice for a skid plate. Ride On, KenC.
