AltRider Luggage Rack for BMW G650GS

When you install the AltRider Luggage Rack for the BMW G 650 GS, you know it will meet your needs. AltRider designed it so whether on or off road, you can take along everything you need for your trip. Made from sturdy 3/16 inch (4.75 mm) black powder coated aluminum and featuring side flanges for extra strength, it’s made to carry your load. The rack is uniquely designed with a variety of cut-outs, so you can easily attach your bags with anything from straps to bungee cords to tie downs.

If you want the option of using a top case, the AltRider Luggage Rack provides an interface for the Givi Monokey systems via the AltRider Givi Monokey Luggage Rack Topcase Mounting Kit (sold separately). Carrying additional fuel or water is made easier, too, because the rack was also designed with a Rotopax interface. Worried about riding two-up? No problem, because we kept the comfort of the pillion in mind when creating this piece.

We believe the strong and versatile AltRider Luggage Rack for the BMW G 650 GS is a good solution for packing smart on your next ride.

Fits for 2013 G650GS Fit and installed nicely. Used Dremel tool to file down tabs as instructed. One note- tied down bag really tight with hooks and slight bend in the hook hole- thus a 3 for Durability. All and all works well; used with Rotopax kit October 2, 2015
beefy luggage rack with a mild annoyance This is a nicely designed and very solid rack for the G650gs...Installation is dead simple and the extra functions for the Givi mounts and the Rotopax bracket are nice touches. HOWEVER, the cut out in the middle of the rack to allow you key access to your little hatch (the one you need to remove to activate the pull bar to release the seat), is a bit of a pain in the butt...it works, but you really have to shave down the tabs on the plastic hatch/cover, or you will have a nasty time removing it later. Then again, what other solution could there have been? A higher mounted luggage rack would give you a higher center of gravity for a load of gear and that's not an attractive option either. Perhaps it just takes some getting used to, as it is a bit fussy...Overall though, the Altrider luggage rack is a much nicer platform for strapping stuff down, than the OEM plastic jobby that lies underneath. Good price, light weight I wanted to replace a very heavy, multi-plate luggage rack I had already installed with something lighter and simpler since I don't plan on carrying a top box. The luggage rack installed easily and quickly. Looks good, simple design. So far it is working well. July 28, 2014
Good Solid Product Altrider products are a breeze to install on my G650GS. Good integration with GIVI Monokey Topbox solutions. Sleek and well designed Hoping to adapt a pelican quick release for my bike. Overall very pleased with their product line and purchased the gambit for the G650GS. If you are on the fence with this product, get off and get busy. It will not disappoint. Cheers and enjoy!!!!!! May 27, 2014
Solid rack. Very versatile. Nice rack. Works great with Givi top box. Also provides great tie-downs. Only had it a couple of weeks, but seems that it will be very durable. May 14, 2014
Great rack -- wouldn't change a thing I primarily use this rack to mount Rotopax 1.75-gal water and 1.75-gal fuel to my G650GS using the extended Rotopax mounting system. This is a great combination and I couldn't be happier with it. The Rotopax mounts bolted right up to the rack with no modifications and the load is carried between the mount's hard points instead of cantilevered off the back like other racks. It's been through extended rough off-roading with both 1.75-gal containers full with zero issues. I highly recommend this combination. It is a little cumbersome to get to the rear compartment, but if you follow the instructions it's fine. January 22, 2014
Fine Craftsmanship I shopped around for a good luggage rack and went with the Altrider for many reasons but what put it over all the rest was the predrilled holes for a RotoPax mount. Nice, right? Aside from that, this rack rocks. It's so light and strong I almost couldn't believe it. Installation was easy and a perfect fit. It looks great. I had to file down the tabs on the 'glovebox' lid a little, but it was no big deal. Glad I got it. November 4, 2013

RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Marc D: The price is right and the design is simple and solid looking. The Rotopax and Givi bolt in positions are a nice bonus. Aug 30, 2014
Jimmy W: Positive reviews on Altrider brand. Also, rack is versatile. Works with Givi luggage, Rotopax and GoPro mounts. Apr 20, 2014
A shopper asked: Can you still access the seat release compartment with this rack installed? Feb 6, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (1) No (0)
Peter W: You can. It's not as easily accessible anymore of course, but you can get the lid off to release the seat and fit small items in the compartment. The instructions detail how to make a slight modification to the lid (trim off a small piece) that makes it a bit easier. The modification doesn't otherwise affect the fit or function of the lid.

In my opinion, this configuration is superior to others that sit aft of the lid, allowing easier access, because of the way the load is centered over the structural hard points instead of cantilevered off the back. It's worth the trade.

Patrick C: Yes you can with a little jimmying. AltRider instructions say file down part of the tabs that hold the trunk lid in place and they provide a pictorial demonstration on opening and closing the trunk or glove box. You can find these on AltRider's site. It's not the smoothest operation but it's not a pain either. The quality of the rack outweighs the slight nuisance of the trunk. Last week I opened it to take the seat off and I had no issues. Al the other racks have a big hole in the middle. Hope I helped. Feb 6, 2014

Patrick C: Yes you can. Removal of the lid becomes a 4-step process but it's not a big deal. 1) Unlock and lift 2) lock and remove the key so the lid stays open 3) pull to the rear so the tabs are free 4) pull the lid out to the front. I can reach the seat popper pretty easily with big hands. I have to say though, I don't store anything in there anymore. Feb 7, 2014

andrew w: Yes, but you have to file the nubs off the plastic BMW cover. It's easy and instructions are good. Feb 6, 2014

A shopper asked: hello, will this fit my GS650 Sertao 2014 model? Mar 1, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Martin S: The G650GS rack fits my '13 Sertao fine. A couple of minor things: You have to cut down the tabs on the trunk lid so that it can be removed with the rack in place (instructions tell you how) and there is a very minor interference if you have the BMW solo saddle (cop seat). No issues with the stock dual seats as far as I know. Otherwise it is great. I like Altrider's designs and quality. Mar 2, 2015

Elkin T asked: Will this rack be uncomfortable for pillion when riding 2 up? May 23, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Jimmy W: The rack is flat, but it is located behind the pillion seat. I've used the rack with a Givi top box and have room to strap a duffle bag on the pillion seat. So, I think your rider would be fine with this rack installed. May 23, 2014

Jade L: Yes it should be out of the way enough for your pillion to be comfy. May 25, 2014
