AltRider Crash Bars Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z

Now that you’re the proud owner of a Yamaha Super Tenere XT1200Z, you want crash bars to protect it. AltRider's are built from one inch stainless steel so they’ll never rust, and feature beautiful hand TIG welds.

In designing these crash bars, AltRider went through the trouble of maintaining the hidden connector in the front to yield a seamless system. Why is that important? It means the energy of a hard impact on one side can be transferred throughout the bars and to the other side. The three mounts on one side don’t have to take an entire impact load; instead, it is distributed across six mount mounts so none of them are overwhelmed. All of this is important because the crash bars will not only protect the fairing in the case of a crash, but also the Super Tenere’s exposed radiator.

AltRider also conducted a thorough study to identify the bike’s contact points when on its side. This led to a crash bar design that offers a wide contact area between the crash bars and the ground. The other contact points will be the handlebar bar ends, and rear passenger peg – protecting the fairing, engine, radiator, and brake and shifter lever.

Additionally, AltRider ensured the glove box side panel will have plenty of clearance to be easily removed while bars are still installed.

  • Stainless T-304 construction
  • Hand TIG welding
  • 1 inch diameter tubing for strength
  • Height: 15 inches
  • Width: 20 inches
  • Depth: 18 inches
  • Weight: 11.5 lbs

Not inexpensive, but good quality I bought this product since it was recommended for my bike as the best crash bars for my bike. It is of good quality and it is priced accordingly. Having a friend to help balance the system during the installation makes the process a lot easier. April 6, 2015
Excellent protection and Easy Installation First I would like to say that the ordering and shipping was amazing. Ordered on Tuesday night and at my door Friday Morning + free shipping. Thanks for the great Service!! I purchased these bars for my Yamaha Super Tenere. These crash bars are very strong and the design is excellent. The Altrider bars will definetly protect the upper sections for the bike where all the electrical and cooling systems are. They are a little pricey but the cost to replace the parts it protects is 3 times as much. It took all of 20 mins to install and the instruction were right on. I would recommend these to anyone who takes the high dollar Adventure bike offroad. March 30, 2015
Great add on to a great bike. I just installed the Alt Rider Crash Bars (black) and wanted to add a little bit of advise on the installation. I did the installation by myself, which made it a little more tricky. However, it is achievable by yourself. The best advise I can give is to place the rubber bumper first on the bottom of the radiator before applying the bolts. By doing this, it will hold the bars in place enough to apply the largest two bolts that attach the engine to the block (don't forget the Lock Tight). Then you can apply the remaining bolts and tighten them all down according to the specs. In conclusion, the bars are well crafted, durable, and look great. I will put these crash bars to the test next week in Joshua National Park when I go off road. March 29, 2015
Very Solid Easy installation and great protection. As mentioned in other reviews, there are some cheaper alternatives, but I can't imagine any being as well built and designed as the AltRider bars. March 24, 2015
Nice Fit and Finish Very solid bars. I like where they chose to attach the bars. I also appreciate the quality of the hardware supplied for the installation. Twenty minutes and a couple of tools is all it takes. The finish is satiny smooth and had no defects that I could find. March 23, 2015
Just installed The crashbar was very easy to installed, looks great on the bike. Seems well made. March 16, 2015
No regrets! Very happy with the whole experience/product. Had no problems with the installation and I am pleased with the look and feel of these bars. Obviously, I have not crashed in them so I can't say how they will do, but look and feel up to the job. XT1200Z March 2, 2015
Best protection around for super tenere Install was a bit of a challenge as my ACD skid plate mounts to the same location, however after some fiddling everything fit great. Best crash protection around, had 2 tipovers with no damage to the bike, one into rocks on a hillclimb and another in the sand in 2nd gear. Just scratches to the bars and nothing on the bike. I'm not sure some of the other manufacturers would have faired as well, IMO. May 2, 2014
Darwin P: I chose this because of the reviews I have read on it. Apr 27, 2014

Keith M: Many reviews say that these are a very good product. Been on the bike for quite sometime now and have not used themreally don't want to. Easy to install, very good quality and fit. Best part is dealing with Revzilla. Feb 16, 2014
Michael M: Stainless steel is a tough strong steel and they make the crash bar out of 1 inch piping adding to the strength
making it even stronger 200 times of a mild steel crash bar. An added bonus the crash bars are made of stainless steel instead of a good carbon steel piping. Stainless steel doesn't and won't rust as the carbon steel will if the paint was scratched off. From an engineering standpoint the people at AltRider are far above the curve making quality product and it is made in America.

Andrew W: These bars look great and offer excellent protection. They are made of high quality steel and are easy to install. Altrider took time out to actually see what hits the ground when the tenere falls over and designed these bars to protect those areas. These bars also allow access to the engine covers and fairings without removing the bars. Nov 12, 2013
German O: Protects the bike better than others and is a very good quality. Sep 17, 2013
Spencer C: Read a lot of good reviews on these bars. Really like how they spent the time to construct a solid one piece circular frame all the way around. Aug 21, 2013
A S asked: Hi,

Do these crashbars work with Yamaha OEM skid plate ?

Corey K: Yup! These bars are the best! The don't get in the way of anything and they look great!! The factory ones are actually more problematic than these. Don't like to admit it but Alt Rider crash bars work great too! Dropped the bike a couple times now and only the bars show the proof! Feb 23, 2015
