AltRider Crash Bars Suzuki V-Strom DL1000

These premium crash bars, drawn from 1 inch stainless steel tubing, protect your engine casing and plastics from the wrath of the pavement. The AltRider Crash Bars are designed for the impact load to be transferred to the frame, not the hardware. Unlike steel powder coated products, the AltRider stainless crash bars won't ever rust, even after they are scratched. Installation is easy since the bars bolt on quickly using existing mounts. These crash bars match seamlessly with the AltRider aluminum skid plate for the ultimate protection combination.

Features:

  • Bolts directly to the frame with no modifications needed
  • Seamlessly integrates with AltRider Skid Plate for the V-Strom
  • Precision fit with 5 axis laser coping
  • Hand TIG welded for extra strength
  • 1 inch quality stainless construction resists rust and corrosion
  • Stainless steel hardware included for installation

Specifications:

  • Height: 15 inches
  • Width: 16 inches
  • Depth: 9 inches
  • Weight: 10 lbs

Heavy duty. Great product.
Easy to install with good instructions. YouTube video was helpful as well. I have not dropped the bike so I cannot give a review as to how well it holds up to pavement, and I pray that I never will.
Thanks for a great product that is made in the USA.

Great product, easy install
The fit and finish of this product is fantastic. Install took about 25 minutes total, and was a breeze. These crash bars look great, and add value to the bike. Hopefully I'll never have to use them, but if I do, I have no doubt that they'll hold up. Shipping was super fast after I ordered these bars. You can't go wrong with this product, it's fantastic!

Expensive but quality
Frankly, the only reason I bought these bars is because I wanted the AltRider skid plate (which only mounts to these bars).

The fit and finish is great. Well it was when I bought them. I have since dropped the bike, lets just say several times and the bars did their job. The paint is scratched up but the bars themselves are without dents or scrapes.

The only complaint is price. Things are spendy.

High quality product but it better be for the price. =)

Product met and exceeded expectations
The overall purchase and installation of this product was better than expected. The product was shipped sooner than expected and since I could not have it delivered it was delivered to my local UPS station where I picked it up. The fit and finish of the crash bars was excellent and the unit was installed in about an hour. The constructin is solid and the bars appear to be extremely well made. I haven't had any accidents yet but I expect that they will protect the V-Strom well.

Nice addition
The installation was very easy once I got the bolts broken loose, The factory locktite makes using a normal hex wrench not the best choice. The bars are very sturdy and look great on the bike as well.

Beautiful but pricey
Installed on my 2012 V-Strom DL1000 and they are gorgeous, they fit beautifully with the lines of the bike's body work and the black color just blends right in. Had no problems fitting them on, all bolt holes lined up perfectly.

However, you should ask a friend to help install them, it took us a little over an hour. Have quality tools to use, the factory cr@p will only strip the hex heads since they used a ton of loctite. Be sure to have something to prop up the engine for when you yank out the center primary engine support bolt.

I've never been down on any of my street bikes, but it looks like these will do their job if it ever happens, and did I mention how pretty they are?

Great Looking Engine Guard
Added these for both looks and function. I don't like the term "Crash Bars" so lets call them "Engine Guard". I added foot pegs for highway cruising and they are actually pretty comfortable to stretch the legs, I'm 5'8". If your taller, you might need to get creative with position of pegs. Very well made and simple to install.

Great look, easy install
These bars went on in about 20 minutes. I haven't dropped the bike since installing them, so I don't actually know about the durability or preformance. They look great and blend well into the shape and style of my bike.

Very glad I picked these up

Why did you choose this?

To protect the radiator, side panels, and to some degree, engine and handlebars on my ride. Also, the skid plate bolts up to this.

Great reputation, loved the looks, and awesome price from Revzilla. They went on easy and did their job. I went down on my V-Strom about a month after installation, and they saved my bike from engine damage that would have caused it to be a total loss.

Do these bars lend them selves to the addition to highway pegs? If so do you sell any or have pictures of any installed with the AltRider Crash Bars?
A shopper on Jun 15, 2012
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the AltRider Crash Bars do lend themselves to the mounting of highway pegs as do the Givi Crash-bars. We do not currently have any pictures of that set up, but just added a VStrom 1000 to the Zilla stable and will be doing some additions and modifications, which will include crash bars and possibly pegs as well. Stay tuned!
Will these crash bars for the Suzuki DL1000 interface with the SW-MOTECH skid plate?
A shopper on Mar 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I would think you would need SW crash bars to be compatable. I plan on using an Altrider skid plate with mine. You can always check with Twisted Throttle. Good luck
Will these fit the SV 1000? It seems all the available crash bars are no longer available
