AltRider Crash Bars BMW G650GS 2008-2015
Guilded Finish hides structural deficit. Poor customer service.
FYI, this review is for the G650GS. Front left Weld failed after a few uses. It cracked right where the weld meet the steel tube. Eventually the whole The bar is as straight as it was just after install. Customer service treated me as if faulty welds were my fault.
I called them and sent them pictures, and they said they would replace them but I would have to send them back first. I didn't have the time or the money to order a new set and hope they reimburse me, and the guy wouldn't budge when I suggested a resonable alternative(take the package to FedEx and have them send a packing list immediately via email), but they wouldn't budge.
I would buy the crash bars from touratech for the upper fairing. While they are thinner, I can speak to the quality of they're welding on the pannier racks on my other 800GSA. They can at least support the weight of the bike on its side.

Bike fell and crash bar broke
This crash bars are just not good quality, bike fell from misplace footpeg and impact wasnt even direct on crash bar, mayor impact was on handlebar. After picking bike up I saw that the crash bar had a slightly sctrach and when looking closer, the welding was just broken, crash bar would just move around and can get it separated using little force. Can not imagine how this crash bars would be obsolete it falling while riding even at low-moderate speed.

Great fit & appearance on the '14 BMW G650GS
Well designed and manufactured. Easy installation due to excellent written directions & illustrations. Black bars had no imperfections in the finish unlike previous review with stainless bars. Haven't tested the protection aspect yet but that will no doubt come with mileage and, most likely, off-road riding. Photos on this website with bike lying on its side (a great illustrative idea by the way) suggest good coverage albeit a rock can always be in the wrong place at the wrong time. With the skid plate coverage should be even better as it extends laterally a bit to potentially act as another bridge point with the crash bars.

Altrider crash bars!
Ordered these in Black to fit a '14 BMW Sertao.
Packing was super good, tons of bubble wrap!
Installation is a no brainier, 3 bolts, super easy.
I haven't dropped the bike yet with these installed, so a 4 on durability and performance. I have no doubt these heavy duty crash bars will protect my bike in a fall or drop tho.
Altrider has some of the best customer support around! They answer their emails immediately!

Easy to install, good finish - but I can't speak to performance or durability. They have only been on the bike about 2 months, and I've thankfully kept the shiny side up at all times. In reality I hope I never need the crash bar, but it's nice to know they are there. Also - these seemed the best value I found for bars on the G650GS.

Very solid bars!
There are several options on the market for the G650gs in terms of what type of crash/fairing bars one buys...The Altrider ones are very solid as they bolt in at opposite ends of the bar (like a towel rack bar holder). Some other designs are like a loop with the fasteners going to the frame both at the same location - a really hard hit might be enough to bend or push those bars into the plastics. The Altrider bars (in black) really blend right in to the black fairing plastics on the newer BMW 650 single. A very solid design and easy to install to boot!

I'm very stoked to have the crash bars installed. It was a snap, even for a girl! I hope to not drop my GS ever again, but if I do then at least I have these pimped out bars for engine and plastic protection. The black color blends into my bike naturally. Shipping was super fast, since I live on the west coast. I will be ordering the skid plate next! I officially love me some Revzilla!
