AltRider BMW F800GS Crash Bars

Rough terrain can get the better of anyone, which is why AltRider designed the Crash Bars for the BMW F 800 GS. Made from one inch stainless steel, it is sure to protect your engine in a fall.

These crash bars provide extensive coverage for the F 800 GS, guarding not only the engine itself but also the radiator and front plastics.

The bars are built with precision-manufactured mounts that fit directly into the existing motor mount, creating a robust connection that is secured with existing OEM fasteners on the top engine mounts. Torx fasteners are provided for the bottom mounts.

Unlike other crash bars, these do not use flanges or weak tabs and are not hung: they are actually mounted. Crafted with hand TIG welding, these black powder-coated stainless bars will hold up in spills and never even show signs of rust.

Protect your clutch cover, radiator, and front fairings with the system that doesn’t deflect or bend.

  • Stainless T-304 construction
  • Hand TIG welding
  • 1 inch diameter tubing for strength
  • Comes with the Torx fasteners needed for the bottom mounts
  • Height: 13 inches
  • Width: 20 inches
  • Depth: 13 inches
  • Weight: 10 lbs

Note: Your t50 socket must be able to fit inside a 0.7” ID tube 1” deep. All ½” drive sockets will be too big to fit, as will some 3/8” drive sockets. An L-handle T-50 key is the easiest solution.

If you ride enough, you will eventually either buy crash bars or buy replacement parts I put these on my F800GS. I've used a couple other brands of crash bars and while I didn't DISlike them, I like these much better. Super easy install, good looking, and sturdy. December 9, 2013
Fits perfect to my F800GS Easy to install and look like original part because they fit perfect to my F800GS. I really recomend this product!!! November 25, 2013
Good protection I rode with these crash bars on my 2013 F800GS on the Olympic Peninsula in horrible muddy, nasty conditions and went down 2 times. The crash bars got scratched but never moved a bit. They protected everything they were supposed to. November 13, 2013
Excellent Bike Protection! Things I liked the most about AltRider crash bars were the fit and finish. Has that "Factory Look", but covers twice the area. The install was a piece of cake as well. I was a little worried because I read a couple of reviews that said the bolt holes on the bars were off by 1/2 inch or more on one side. Simply not true, I can see how if the installer does not follow the provided instructions and starts torqueing things down prior to getting the bars aligned this could be the out come but if installed as directed an individual with the simplest mechanical skills should have no problem. I didn't give AltRider 5 stars on cost of the bars because I thought it was a little pricy. Also knocked them down on performance because I haven't ops checked the bars for function yet and I hate giving anyone an "Excellent" rating without knowing for sure, but looking at the quality of the TIG welds and feeling the weight of the bars themselves is reassuring that they will perform as advertised. I would purchase them again without hesitation and would recommend these to friends. September 30, 2013
So far so good I have ridden with the crash bars for a month or so. So far so good. I have noticed my knee hits the top of the bars once in a while while seated and riding 2-up. No crashes yet, so I can't comment on the protection element. They were very easy to install. September 9, 2013
The bars fit perfectly, and look like they belong on the bike. Quality material, and nice welds. Everything fit perfectly, and all needed hardware was included. Instructions were easy to follow. My only complaint, is that it would have been nice if they had included torque specs for the fasters, the two motor mounts in particular. Great product over all. I did not rate performance or durability, as I have yet to drop the bike! September 9, 2013
Nice product I looked at many different crash bars for the 800 GS and leaned toward these primarily due to the fact of stainless steel construction, no crimped and welded ends, and very sturdy mounting. Have seen several postings for difficult installation, follow the directions EXACTLY and i had very little trouble. Make SURE you line up holes so bolts go in squarely, I needed to torque the right side into position by hand and slowly worked the lower bolts in. All else went ok. They will protect the body work in a laydown, hope I dont need to find out too often!! They are all pricy for the amount of material here, I guess we are paying for the R&D. August 26, 2013
Can't go wrong with these! I bought these as a last-minute decision before riding part of the Washington BDR. I ended up being thrown from the bike twice and also had a low-side drop on baby heads. The bike came away from the ordeal with no scratches anywhere. You just can't beat these in terms of protection. Easy install, excellent build quality, very happy. August 19, 2013

A shopper asked: What EXACTLY is the "triple black" finish? Powder coat, anodized, or something else? Thanks. Aug 14, 2013

john g: That I have no idea but its a flat black paint that can take a beating. I've had my bike on its side three times on dirt roads and they get scratched up but the paint stays on. I'm happy with them and would recommend them they are solidly built and easy to put on. Aug 14, 2013

Bruce P: The triple black coating appears to be powder coating or a baked epoxy. Very tough coating. I've dropped the bike a couple times and while the coating has gouged through to metal, it isn't peeling or flaking at the edges. Very satisfied with the bars. Aug 14, 2013

Michael B: I am not sure which process was used. But, in my observation they look powder coated. They do not scratch easily. Aug 14, 2013
