Rough terrain can get the better of anyone, which is why we designed the AltRider Crash Bars for the BMW F 800 GS. Made from one inch stainless steel, it is sure to protect your engine in a fall.
These crash bars provide extensive coverage for the F 800 GS, guarding not only the engine itself but also the radiator and front plastics.
The bars are built with precision-manufactured mounts that fit directly into the existing motor mount, creating a robust connection that is secured with existing OEM fasteners on the top engine mounts. Torx fasteners are provided for the bottom mounts.
Unlike other crash bars, these do not use flanges or weak tabs and are not hung: they are actually mounted. Crafted with hand TIG welding, these black powder-coated stainless bars will hold up in spills and never even show signs of rust.
Protect your clutch cover, radiator, and front fairings with the system that doesn’t deflect or bend.

They look good !
Just bought a 2013 F800GS low profile (32" seat height) anyways these bars we're dang tight getting on, but did fit , needed second pair of hands for installation. I feel they will do there job if and or when need be.

Solid, well made - if you get one that fits...
Great set of bars, installs up pretty easily but does take some encouraging. Just remember to keep all your fasteners nice and loose until everything is connected -then tighten everything up. Coverage is excellent and the bars are burly. The stainless steel for tubing choice is nice so that dings and gouges to the powdercoat won't leave you with rusted spots.
ONE MAJOR PROBLEM though! Like a previous review, my first set were totally off, by about 2.5 cm on both sides. I phoned the company and the guy asked if I could "make them fit" even after I reminded him of the fact they're steel and they were off over an inch. Then he said, "sorry yea they're handmade so sometimes they're off - maybe 1 out of 100."
Seems like a lot of messed up product getting to customers for being one of the most, if not the most, expensive crash bars on the market...pretty annoying.
Thanks to Revzilla because they sent me a new set immediately and gave me a label for returning the defective set.
Bottom line, they're nice, protect well, good material and mount up great. But only if you don't get a bum set first.

doesnt fit!
i own a 2010 f800gs and this product doesnt fit. It was more than two inches off on the left side even with the right side completely undone. i stripped the screws on the left side trying to force it into place. BTW, hard parts cannot be returned if they are installed/try to install on the bike... effin awesome!

Excellent Bars
This was was for a BMW F800GS, I had looked around at other manufactures and all seemed to be fine but the Altrider just seem to be a perfect match. It is easy to install and I am not a instruction reader but I did watch the video on the Revzilla site first which did help. They were on the bike in under an hour and was riding with them in two hours and put them to the test by dropping the bike on a trial. Picked up the bike and was greeted with nothing broken or even scratched. Plus side they are made in USA and great quality. I will look to Altrider again for more items.

Great Product - once installed
Got the order very quickly (thanks Revzilla). Packaging was good...too good. Somebody had gone nuts with the self sticking bubble wrap, so it was a major chore to get it off the bars. At one point, I had to use scissors to get the wrap off and ended up putting a scratch on the bars before I even had them mounted (they're supposed to be scratched at some point).
The instructions are okay but the bars are not labeled as left or right, so you're on your own in that regard. My advice is to lay out the bolts that will go in each location and run them through the mount points BEFORE you try to mount the bars. The right bar set was just a little off, which made it difficult to get one of the lower bolts started into the engine case. It started to strip, which caused a few moments of panic. Removed everything, ran a fresh bolt through the case and ran the bolt through a correct sized nut to clean up the threads.
This time I installed all the bolts without blue loctite, Then backed each bolt out individually and re-installed with loctite.
Final installation looks great.

Simple Install & Easy Instructions
I'd been looking at a bunch of different manufacturers for an engine guard for my F800 GS. I did like the idea of the Touratech guards, which attached to the frame, rather than the engine. That seemed like a huge benefit, however, I didn't like that there was an upper extension needed. Additionally, there's quite a few extra steps in mounting the Touratech guards.
Most of the other manufacturers (including BMW), appear to use the factory engine mounts. I figured that if BMW's own guard fits this way, then who am I to question. I've purchased a number of AltRider products in the past and have always been impressed with their quality and ease of installation.
This product was simple to install and the black looks great on the bike. The instructions are in English, written by folks where English is not their second language. Often, then instructions I get from Touratech, while in English, need to be deciphered.
I definitely like the look of the guards and I honestly, don't intend to test their "durability" any time soon!!!

Great Looking Crash Bar
I probably won't test the crashworthiness of these anytime soon but they are definitely stout. Once these things are mounted, it seems impossible to deflect them. I didn't rate the performance or durability because I haven't put a whole lot of off-road miles on my f800GS. I don't plan on doing it myself but it looks as though these bars would expand farkle-mounting options exponentially. As for RevZilla, I can't say enough good things.

Easy to install, excelent finishing
It took me just 10 minutes to install these crash bars in my F800GS. Instructions were very clear.
The crash bars are well finished and really look great on the bike. I do recommend this product.
