Pro: Great style and fit. Con: Armor feels flimsy
I just got this jacket. I've worn it once, and so far I'm very pleased with my purchase. I am 5'5'' and 140lbs, and hourglass shaped. I ordered a large and it fits me perfectly. Most motorcycle jackets have the tendency to make me look like the stay-puft marshmallow man, so the belt at the natural waist is what really sold me on this jacket. Another aspect that I love is that it's cut longer in the torso than most jackets. It all comes together to create a really sleek, flattering look. I got this jacket as an alternative to my mesh jacket, for use on colder rides, and with the quilted liner, I think it's going to be perfect.
Just a couple negative things:
- The armor in the shoulders and elbows feels pretty flimsy. It's not nearly as sturdy as the armor that came in my similarly-priced, mesh, Fieldsheer jacket. I plan to replace it with better quality pieces (and to buy a back protector to fit in the built-in pocket).
- The sleeves don't taper at the wrist, which looks really stylish, but you get a lot of wind up the sleeve. There are straps to tighten them a bit, but gauntlet gloves will definitely be a necessity in cold-weather.

Perfect mix of form and function at decent price.
My wife has just recently (and reluctantly) started to join me on my rides. Typically she would agree to go out riding if we do 25 mile (one way) scenic route, have a diner and get back home. As the weather is getting cooler I decided to get her a motorcycle jacket so that we can continue riding together.
Ideal jacket for her had to address 3 concerns, safety, warmth and style (not necessarily in the order presented here). I did the research and presented her with several options so that she can choose one that was most appealing to her.
She decided to try Alpinestars Stella jacket for two reasons. One, she was familiar with the brand (I own several Alpinestars items). Two, she knew that if she did not like the jacket exchanging it or getting a refund from Revzilla will not be a problem.
I will start by reviewing how does this jacket address 3 main concerns that I mentioned earlier.
Protection - the jacket is made of 450 Denier Polyester fabric. Ideally I would have liked 600 denier better. However, since you can obtain additional protection by purchasing inserts for the back and chest we weren’t as concerned with the thread difference (450 vs. 600). Warmth-the jacket is wind and waterproof and has a detachable thermal liner. The thermal liner is full liner with long sleeves. Based on my experience with similar Alpinestars jacket (Messenger) this jacket will keep her comfortable even in 40-50 degree range. This jacket does not have any vents. So even though you could remove the liner, depending on your tolerance and preference temperature wise, you probably would not be comfortable in this jacket on 75+ weather. Style is where this jacket really exceeds. My wife wanted something that is subtle and can be worn off the motorcycle without looking like motorcycle jacket. Stella is part of Alpinestars city collection aimed to achieve that kind of look and it definitely delivers. Even with armor on the jacket does not look bulky. The usage of 450 Denier was reason for some concern when it came to abrasion resistance. When it comes to looks the 450 thread creates smoother and softer look and feel compared to 600. Jacket is long enough to cover lower back when seated, but short enough so that it doesn’t “bunch up”. Fit and finish are what you except them to be from a premium brand, and Alpinestars delivers. My wife liked jacket so much that once it becomes too cold to ride she is planning on taking the inserts out and using a jacket around town. Unlike my jacket where I needed to go size up I think that in women’s Alpinestars runs true to size. Overall this is excellent product that offers perfect mix of form and function at decent price.
