Alpinestars Viper Air Jacket (Size 3XL Only) 4.5 5 139 139
Wonderful for airflow but tricky/lacking features I am a very short rider - and the first thing I noticed about this jacket was that the arms run a bit long on me. The rest of the jacket though is great. 36 inch chest, ran myself a great size on the chest itself but the arms end at my knuckles. None of the above is a fault of the jacket, just a note on Alpinestars fitment. Now as for the jacket itself - superb air flow for the summer, spring, fall is where it looses some usability depending on where you live. Winter is not this jacket's strong suit - even with the liner, which is another point I'll make later. The pockets are a good size, the zipper quality is good. The internal pockets too are a good size, though the velcro that closes them tends to stick to the mesh of the jacket, rather than the opposite end of the velcro. Especially if you put anything with weight in it, it will eventually bend the velcro to the mesh and you will be left with a constantly open pocket unless you unbend it. A note on zippers, the ones on the sleeves are great, but the velcro again is not great. Though strong, the latch there at the end of the cuff doesn't provide much tightening over what the zipper already does and I feel like that was the whole point of putting velcro straps at the end of the sleeves. The liner is light, and made of what feels like a thin sheet of plastic. Mildly waterproofing your chest and back, but nothing worth feeling protected if its raining more than a drizzle. Also, unlike jackets with an easy zipper tracing the liner, or snaps even, this jacket has some button/loophole configuration that is a PAIN to do/undo. Maybe if the liner was thicker and provided some more usability into the winter months it would be worth the struggle to fit the "too big for the loops" buttons where they need to go. But since its more of a wind breaker than any sort of warming layer, its not worth the hassle and I seldom ride with it in. The protection seems pretty decent for the major points of contact. Shoulders, elbows, back, chest even. The best protection is on the elbows and forearms, the rest feel less resistant to abrasion but still much better than some other mesh jackets I've owned. Style points are huge, I love the pattern of the colors and the way the color flows across your back and arms. Wish there was a little less branding though, people will know you're riding with Alpinestars gear. From every angle. And possibly from space. Overall: 8.5/10 Also impress your friends with how expensive this jacket is compared to ones with better liners/more protection. Your wallet will feel much lighter than before, which is great for weight reduction. November 16, 2015
Very stylish and sporty This jacket fit is very snug which I really like (Euro fit). I'm 6ft and 175 llbs and large fits me just right. November 16, 2015
Great Jacket for visibility, protection and staying cool I ride in the Raleigh NC area so the weather is moderately hot and humid in the summer. This jacket like any other will seem hot when you are sitting still, but once you are moving it is very cool and the ventilation is nice even with armor inserted. (I have nucleon armor in the back and chest). Of course you can't expect this jacket to keep you warm at all once the weather cools. The jacket fits a little sporty but not too tight. I like it a lot, has the quality you expect from Alpinestars and it was a good value. October 28, 2015
Great for summer riding This past summer in Charlotte, NC it was over 90 degrees with humidity, and I wore this jacket for a few hours everyday in it. While being at a low speed it is a little hot, once you hit 35mph it felt great. This jacket does a great job of flowing air to you and keeping you cool. My only complaint is the back area has a removable sponge type material, but can be replaced with other armours for safety. ( which I would recommend doing) Other than that, a great, cool jacket, that will keep you safe and cool in the summer. October 16, 2015
Comfortable Jacket This jacket fits me perfectly. 6'0" 195 lbs size large. Good for weather above 55-60 degrees and up. September 24, 2015
Just as it's listed GREAT BUY! Wanted a nice Alpinestars jacket that had good airflow but also had good protection! This jacket has it all! Living in South Florida, you still get hot and sweaty wearing the jacket (as you are wearing a jacket in the Florida heat) but when you are moving it has great air flow and circulates throughout the jacket cooling you down tremendously! Looks good too and fits well! Very happy with the purchase! September 21, 2015
Great Jacket for Summer Great Jacket. Works really well in the 90 degree heat. The arms are really the part that keeps you cool.. That being said, if you use this jacket in 50 degree temp, then the wind running through across your arms can sure feel mighty cold. Apart from that it is a great jacket. I got a 3X, which is slightly loose for me. I am a 48R on a regular jacket. May be a 2X would have been better. September 18, 2015
Product appears and feels like it is of high quality but it isn't. I wore the jacket 3 times and the zipper broke. I had problems with the zipper from the start. The pockets for the elbow pads were placed for someone whose knuckles drag the ground. I've already had to spend another $75 to have the zipper fixed and the elbow pockets altered. September 3, 2015

William T: For some a/c while riding in the summer heat! It has gotten to the point that wearing my Alpinestars GP Plus Perforated Leather was giving me heat stroke, (jk), but, to be honest, the leather was just too hot so within a half hour of riding in 80 degree weather, I was DRENCHED in sweat! A shopper asked: I would like to purchase an Alpinestars Viper air jacket (white and red) but I am unsure which size to get due to middle age spread? My measurements in CM's are Chest 117, Waist 122, 128 seated and Arms 71? Feb 22, 2015

sachin d: I am 32 inch waist. I got the medium and it fits very snug. on days that I feel fat (you know which those days are!), sometimes, my zipper comes off if I bend down (off bike) or twist around at the waist. This jacket is GREAT! I love it on the bike, but, it is def meant for a snug tight fit. On a related note: these jackets are supposed to fit tight because, in an accident, you don't want the jacket to slide on your body and stretch, tear or whatever. Feb 22, 2015

Scott P: I am 5'10" and weigh 185 lbs. My chest is about 42" and I am getting that middle age belly too. I have this jacket in an XL size and it is quite comfortable, perhaps a bit on the loose side. Feb 22, 2015

majdy a: I think the best size which is available is 4xl (64).
