By a margin, the worst piece of gear I own After looking through other reviews I feel like I'm taking crazy pills because these gloves are genuinely the worst piece of motorcycle gear I own and the largest waste of my money in a very, very long time. Let's start with the good aspects of the gloves. They're very pretty and have held up very well. I've been using them for nearly 8,000 miles and they don't look a day old. Kudos to Alpinestars on appearance-based build quality. Regarding negative aspects, the list is unfortunately very long. I'll start with dexterity and finger feel. There is simply none. Of either. When using these gloves I can barely flex my hand in any direction to complete actions such as twisting the throttle, using a directional or hitting the horn. Turning on and canceling the turn signal is done with muscle memory since my left thumb can feel nothing due to the thickness of the glove. Clutching and braking are acceptable but my thumb of the appropriate hand gets pulled along when I extend my fingers. I'm also entirely unable to feel the tab on my visor when attempting to pop it open. Moving on to the heating aspect of the gloves things get no better. The heating element is located on the back of your hand. This is fine, and would likely work well if it covered the entire back of the hand and put out an appreciable amount of heat. Unfortunately the heating element seems to miss the thumb and index finger region entirely leaving them to fend for themselves while the middle, ring and pinky fingers stay pleasantly warm. This is rather uncomfortable. Additionally I can feel a draft in the glove which originates near the index finger. Extending one's fingers even slightly results in the heating element portion of the glove losing contact with the skin and the small draft from the index finger simultaneously engulfing the remainder of the hand. This draft also serves to cool the heating element forcing it to re-warm itself. In short, one's hand gets very cold, very quickly. The lack of dexterity and poor heating make this glove abysmal in my mind. I'd sell them on eBay, but honestly I don't want to burden some other poor soul with these things. They'd likely work well for a passenger who had their hands safely out of moving air, but short of that I consider them largely useless and an enormous waste of money for the price. Great heated gloves I live in PA, so we only get to enjoy about 3 months of nice weather up here. Any rides after that, it's anyone's guess what the morning temperatures will be like. There are many days where even though it will get into the 60s, the mornings start out in the low 30s or 40s. I had recently purchased the Alpinestars Polar Goretex Gloves to combat the cold, but they weren't cutting it. I know some people say these work fine in the low 40s, but I have over an hour commute to work and my hands were numb after 20 minutes. As a result, I invested in these. Let me say - these are fantastic. I will not say my hands were "hot" or anything like that, but I rode to work in 38F temps and my hands never went numb at any point. It is important to realize that the primary heating conductors are on the backside of the hand area, and not near the palm or fingers. The heating was enough to distribute through the gloves without my fingers going numb - they never got hot, but they never got too cold either. Assembly was no problem, and I was able to get the power pack hooked up to my motorcycle battery with no problem. I only have two criticisms of these gloves. In comparison to the polar goretex gloves, I notice that the durability is not the same. The polar gloves feel like I could take a great beating before I damaged my hands, but the heated gloves feel a bit more flimsy to me. Secondly, the polar goretex gloves fit perfectly and felt very comfortable - the heated gloves have a velcro band across the wrist that make for a more awkward feel. On the plus side, I feel like I have more 'control' in the heated gloves since the material seems to be a littler thinner. Bottom line - these gloves will definitely do the trick if you need some warmth during a long and cold commute. I am always impressed when I see people reviewing other non-heated gloves saying that their hands stayed warm even in frigid temps. For me that is never the case, and if you're the same way then these gloves will do the trick. June 3, 2014
Another fine Alpinestars product. After a month of 30's & 40's riding these gloves have shown their true value. They really work great! I can maintain good dexterity and still feel completely protected. Waterproofing is excellent and the wiring and heating system was easy to install. December 20, 2013
Great winter glove I ride all year in Wisconsin, and my hands were the one thing that got extremely cold. So, this year I decided to treat myself to some heated gloves. The quality is what you'd expect from Alpinestars, which is to say excellent. The gloves are quite comfortable, well-made, and look nice as well. Other reviews said the gloves fit small, and they do, but not by a lot. I normally wear a medium, so I ordered a large and they're slightly loose (although I believe a medium would be too small). One thing to note is that the liner inside the gloves seems to be loose and can get bunched up, leading to them seeming much smaller than they are. This is solved by just tugging on the cuff to get any creases out of the liner. The heat is quite good. Because the gloves come with a Y splitter, they can be easily wired to the bike's battery out of the box. Today I rode for 1.5 hours on the freeway at ~40F and my hands didn't get cold. Because they do get warm, if you're planning to wear these at temps warmer than 45 or so, I would suggest getting the heat controller as well. October 28, 2013
Mehhh... Fit is 2 1/2 sizes small. I love A-Star glove all my other glove are A-stars but these pair.... Meh. They fit is really small, normally wear a large in others (XXL in A-stars). I got a XXL and they still fit a bit small. The heating is okay but my god you give up ALL dexterity. Yeah, I'm disappointed just happy the week long Florida winter is over. May 19, 2013
Great warmth and fit. I purchased these to wear with other brand heated jacket liner and they work great. Size is a bit on the smaller side so when ordering, go one size larger. The only complaint that I have is that trying to tuck in the red liner into the jacket sleeve is a bit difficult when putting on the second glove. The red liner bunches up a bit and it´s difficult to push it into the jacket sleeve with the other gloved finger. Other than that these are great. March 22, 2013
Sort of disappointed Bought these because alpinestar gloves fit my hands the best. I wanted a heated glove so I said I'll try it out. The elastic cuff is a pain to get over my aerostitch suit. The ring finger on my left had was sewn crooked and it is kinda bothersome. See picture. The inside of the gloves are lined with some sort of strange fabric that is not very soft. They fit great other than the twisted finger. The protection is good. They are HOT in 50 degree weather with no heat and when in the 30's your palms will freeze if you do not have heated grips. And they don't get that hot, my heatroller is always on high when I need the heat. I don't understand why they don't heat the palms on any gloves. Who thinks let's make a heated glove and just heat the fingers? As if handle bars are made out of some mystery metal that doesn't get cold. I ride a 01 RT so your hands do not get any wind blast because of the placement of the mirrors, good job BMW, now only if I didn't have to take my eyes of the road to look in my mirrors, goood job BMW. They probably don't heat the plams to keep the wires from breaking. Also the thumbs seem to not get enough heat. I did not get them wet so can't say anything about that. My biggest complaint is that they are supposed to be pre curved. Well I guess they are but not enough. I commute 150 miles a day round trip. When you have to constantly hold your hands shut because the glove is forcing them open it gets tiresome. I was going to return them but I was on vacation and forgot about how long I had them and missed my 30 day window. I might just suffer with them and maybe they will break in. Or sell them. Anyone need a pair of OK heated gloves? I wish revzilla would let me return them at least for a pair with a straight finger. My fault I missed the return by 10 days. Maybe I should call and ask. No fault of revilla's I have ordered many products from them and still will. They do have the best return policy and the guys on the phone are good people when you have a question. January 22, 2013
Money well spent I got these for my husband as a birthday gift because he is determined to ride all winter long. (And in Oklahoma it can get COLD at 5am when he leaves for work!) His summer gloves are from Icon and are a size L. I nervously ordered these in an XL since I heard they ran small. They fit great! And the heating feature works perfectly. Not too hot, but still keeps you nice and toasty. Don't cheap out on less expensive versions. These are worth the $$$ November 19, 2012
