An inner Kevlar speed lacing closure and micro-adjustable ratchet fastener combine to ensure a comfortable, conforming fit on both the road and track.

Awesome Commuter/Track Boots Bought these boots maybe 8 months ago. I absolutely love them. Im a size 10/10.5 and I went with the EU44. They fit perfectly. They are comfortable to walk around in and feel great on the bike. I wish I had bought the perforated version, the regular ones do not breath well. I have to change my socks every other track session because my feet sweat so much! I did a high side 2 months ago at VIR and these boots protected my feet very well. They held up great in the crash and hardly got scratched. I did wear the toe piece out earlier in the season and I sent the boots back to alpinestar to have them resoled. $50 and two weeks later I had my boots again looking brand new. Their customer service is A++. If you do a lot of hot weather riding, PLEASE get the vented version. Very comfortable, very safe all around awesome boot. Wish I had bought these at the current sale price! November 17, 2015
Great commuter boot! I was looking for a commuter boot with a lot more support and protection than I was using. This boot delivered. I was a little worried that the sole would be slippery on wet pavement at stop signs etc., but no problem at all. Not bad at warmer temperatures either. The inner boot does a good job of wicking moisture away from your foot, so your feet don't feel sweaty. You need to buy a little on the small side to allow for break-in. My only little gripe would be that you may notice the laces of the inner boot against your shin if you are not wearing longer socks. I use these boots for everything other than hard adventure riding. I would buy again. September 8, 2015
I use them for street-riding and they're great - Questionable construction... Had these boots for almost two riding seasons now, you get used to them and they do provide good comfort. They've held up good. They're not as bad as ski-boots to walk in, yet they're not as good as sneakers. I'm confident they will protect my feet, shins, and ankles in case I do go down. They securely tighten around the foot in three different ways (zipper, lace, and Velcro). I've gotten used to the responsiveness of the brake and shift lever, which was scary at first. I did take off the slider piece on the shoe (it detaches easily). These boots have have a few faults. The first (as seen in my picture and the title), two screws fell off in the same place. I'm not exactly sure why, but it's kind of scary in a way as it could have been very dangerous for other people or myself on the road if they fell off when I was riding. They are also what holds in the 'Multi Link Control' rear plate and. The second fault is the squeaking. It goes and comes, and grabs a lot of attention to you if you're walking in a store. I haven't taken the time to see exactly where it's making the noise but I believe it's that rear plate as mentioned before. Still, overall very happy with these boots and do recommend them even if all you're doing is street-riding. If the cost is a deterrent for you, ask yourself how much you think your feet/skin/ankles are worth, then look back at the price! ;) August 18, 2015
Love these boots! I'd originally gone the Sidi route (because just look at them), but found them too narrow and uncomfortable to walk around in. These A-Stars were perfectly comfortable right out of the box. Nice and flexible when you need it, rigid when you don't. The inner boot is probably my favorite feature since it allows you to adjust how snug the boot feels. Air flow is good for a non-perf boot. My feet never got hot while riding for several hours on an 85 degree day. I generally wear a 9.5 shoe and the 44 was spot-on. July 1, 2015
Awesome Great fit, love the inner boot laces, really pulls your heels down while allowing you to flex your ankle. Venting is ok, they're a little warm. Very solid, good solid heel cup and lateral ankle protection. July 9, 2015
Good...but can be noisy I've worn these boots for a little more than a year now - and close to 7,000 miles. Overall, great boots that feel very protective. I especially like the inner bootie. There's no way these things are going to come off in a crash. Despite the high level of protection, they're still reasonably comfortable to walk around in. I've hiked 5 miles in them, after riding for 5 hours straight, and my feet didn't complain too much. Just be warned - because the multi-link ankle protector is on the outside of the boot - they can be a little noisy when you walk. It's a trade-off for the extra comfort and protection. Just don't wear them to any funerals. Also - don't get caught in the rain with them, unless you have some sort of rain covers. July 3, 2015
Not much need of a break in. After owning a set of Alpinestars GP Pro boots for the better part of 20 years. I was in need of a replacement set of boots. I found the smx plus boot was a great choice for me. I had tried on many other boots. Sadici, SPIDI. But could not find a boot that fit my larger than avg ankle and wide foot. I am 6'2" @210 and wear a size 12 dress and work boot. I found that the size 46/11.5 fit me perfectly. The only thing that I need to get used to is the fact that the distance from top of shifter toe to bottom of boot is a bit thicker than I am accustomed to so I need to make a few adjustments to my shift lever. This is not a problem it just a matter of current boots providing better protection not than they did 20 years ago. Now speaking of the boot itself. Zero squeak, very easy to take on and off and most of all zero break in. I was able to ride without any fatigue. And I wore them the entire time I was working on a buddies bike 5+ hours without thinking about the fact that I was in a set of race boot. Of special note. I was very seriously considering the TCX boot. However I noticed that the heal of the boot is on an angle and its those little things that can make or break a boot when on the track or on the street as far as comfort and control on the bike. Umeed S: Wanted the protection but nothing Motogp flashy so went with something low key and stealthy because Im batman. Sep 20, 2015
D U: I needed a track day boot, but not a racing boot. SIDI is too flashy, Dainese boots are too narrow. Alpinestars fit well and this boot addresses my needs perfectly. Aug 11, 2015
Matthew T: got the smx 6 in and it was too big and wanted more support Feb 23, 2014
A shopper asked: Are these remotely vented at all? Do they offer any system of letting the feet breathe? Sep 27, 2015

Ieva L: They've got two vents - a forward facing one (it's the small triangle right under the stretch leather panels) and a rearward one on the heel. I wore these on a 98* trackday and my feet weren't the hottest part of me by a long shot, so there's that at least. There's also a fully vented smx plus version that costs the same. Sep 27, 2015

nestor g: I love these boots, I wore them on a really hot nYc summer 85+ and they do have some ventelation... I also wore them all day from 7am-5pm and they didn't bother at all, no heat, no sweat, and the feel is super comfy and protected.

Really recommend these bad boys.

A shopper asked: What is the difference other than color of this 2014 smx plus boot and the 2013 smx plus vented boot that comes in other colors? May 2, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Joshua L: The venting and color options are the only difference between the two. I prefer unvented for the colder riding seasons. Whether you go vented or not boot feels and performs the same. If you live somewhere hot like Texas maybe you should consider the vented. May 3, 2014
