Love my AStars boots! This purchase was to replace a previous pair of SMX Plus boots that basically wore out after several hard years of riding. One of the things I love about the SMX Plus boots is that there was no break-in on them. They never once made my feet hurt or left blisters. They're very comfortable to walk and even do limited hiking in. I like the significant ankle support and the armor of the boot for riding protection, but that it isn't restrictive to general movement. The inner lacing secures the boot to your foot so that it will not come off your foot in an accident situation. Probably the biggest downfall of these boots is that they are not quiet. The click and crack when you walk, so you have to give up on sneaking up on people when you're wearing them. August 2, 2016
Great Boots, Good Protection Comfortable stylish racing boots. You can even wear them off bike, for a while. Very squeaky, but I do not mind. Crash tested them by my self, saved my foot in a pretty bad crash. Only problem that for some year, models were fitted with non standard sliders, which are hard to replace. June 24, 2016
Great boot This has proven to be a great boot, It took me some time to get use to the smaller toe when shifting, I had been wearing my steel toe Red Wing work boots so there is a little difference in the size of the toe, I am able to walk with out any issues off the bike and I have been able to get some of my jeans over the boots. These boots do limit the movement of your ankle somewhat but its not bad, The only problem I have with them is the fact I lost a 1/2 inch in height compared to my Red Wings, Just something I had to get use to, I do have room in the boot to add a different insole haven't changed them yet to get the 1/2 inch back May 31, 2016
Great Boot. Over all a great boot. My first pair of street riding boots but i have used motocross boots in the past to compare them too. Very easy to walk in doesn't feel quite like a ski boot but I'm sure you feet wouldn't feel great walking around in them all day. Ankle support is very good along with all other protection. Feel great on the bike, plenty of feel and movement. Also has the shift pad on both feet if you have a right hand shift bike like me. Sizing was a little big however Im usually a size US 11 wide in boots, 11 in running shoes, 10.5 -11 dress shoe. I got the size 45. Width was perfect but they were a little big length wise. Nothing crazy but my foot would move around a bit while walking around. I put a Dr.Scholl insole inside with the existing and they fit perfect now. Nice and snug but not overly tight. I would say if you have wide feet like me aim little big if you can. Narrow feet you could go a size down I bet. April 6, 2016
Awesome Commuter/Track Boots Bought these boots maybe 8 months ago. I absolutely love them. Im a size 10/10.5 and I went with the EU44. They fit perfectly. They are comfortable to walk around in and feel great on the bike. I wish I had bought the perforated version, the regular ones do not breath well. I have to change my socks every other track session because my feet sweat so much! I did a high side 2 months ago at VIR and these boots protected my feet very well. They held up great in the crash and hardly got scratched. I did wear the toe piece out earlier in the season and I sent the boots back to alpinestar to have them resoled. $50 and two weeks later I had my boots again looking brand new. Their customer service is A++. If you do a lot of hot weather riding, PLEASE get the vented version. Very comfortable, very safe all around awesome boot. Wish I had bought these at the current sale price! November 17, 2015
Great commuter boot! I was looking for a commuter boot with a lot more support and protection than I was using. This boot delivered. I was a little worried that the sole would be slippery on wet pavement at stop signs etc., but no problem at all. Not bad at warmer temperatures either. The inner boot does a good job of wicking moisture away from your foot, so your feet don't feel sweaty. You need to buy a little on the small side to allow for break-in. My only little gripe would be that you may notice the laces of the inner boot against your shin if you are not wearing longer socks. I use these boots for everything other than hard adventure riding. I would buy again. September 8, 2015
I use them for street-riding and they're great - Questionable construction... Had these boots for almost two riding seasons now, you get used to them and they do provide good comfort. They've held up good. They're not as bad as ski-boots to walk in, yet they're not as good as sneakers. I'm confident they will protect my feet, shins, and ankles in case I do go down. They securely tighten around the foot in three different ways (zipper, lace, and Velcro). I've gotten used to the responsiveness of the brake and shift lever, which was scary at first. I did take off the slider piece on the shoe (it detaches easily). These boots have have a few faults. The first (as seen in my picture and the title), two screws fell off in the same place. I'm not exactly sure why, but it's kind of scary in a way as it could have been very dangerous for other people or myself on the road if they fell off when I was riding. They are also what holds in the 'Multi Link Control' rear plate and. The second fault is the squeaking. It goes and comes, and grabs a lot of attention to you if you're walking in a store. I haven't taken the time to see exactly where it's making the noise but I believe it's that rear plate as mentioned before. Still, overall very happy with these boots and do recommend them even if all you're doing is street-riding. If the cost is a deterrent for you, ask yourself how much you think your feet/skin/ankles are worth, then look back at the price! ;) August 18, 2015
Love these boots! I'd originally gone the Sidi route (because just look at them), but found them too narrow and uncomfortable to walk around in. These A-Stars were perfectly comfortable right out of the box. Nice and flexible when you need it, rigid when you don't. The inner boot is probably my favorite feature since it allows you to adjust how snug the boot feels. Air flow is good for a non-perf boot. My feet never got hot while riding for several hours on an 85 degree day. I generally wear a 9.5 shoe and the 44 was spot-on. July 1, 2015
