Comfortable Protection
While, hurray!, I haven't tested the protection this armor provides, it is more comfortable than another brand I had been using; they were stiff. I haven't used the Alpinestars long enough to judge durability.
Knee and elbow pads especially have to be flexible for comfort, and to encourage their use. The other key feature is placement. Some clothing doesn't position the pads where they belong and allows them to move around. The Alpinestars pants keep the knee pads where they should be for maximum protection..

Answer:
No, the Alpinestars Smart Guard Knee Protection Kit are designed for Alpinestars knee pockets only, and will not fit properly inside hip pockets. You could use the SAS-TEC Replacement Hip Armor, which you can trim to fit inside different pocket sizes and shapes. Please note that while trimming the armor will not compromise the integrity of the armor, it will void the manufacturer's warranty.

Answer:
The color of the armor that faces outward is not as important as the ergonomic shape. If you were to draw a line down the center of the pad, you want the wider half on the lateral side of the knee as that would make first contact.7 months ago
