Nice looking, but poorly constructed.
I had only used this backpack 5-6 times during my commute to work when the top of the left strap tore off while I was removing it after getting off the bike. At that point the bag contained my laptop (not heavy), my clothes, and unfortunately a soda which proceeded to explode all over everything else I had in the backpack when it fell to the ground. Not a good way to start out the workweek.

My basic feeling is that this is a nice looking backpack, but it is not built very well. I am just glad it didn't fall apart while I was actually riding. I have to question why something so simple as taking the backpack off would be enough stress to cause the strap to finally tear loose.

If you only plan to carry lightweight items in the backpack, don't want to spend a ton of money on a better-built product, and want something that looks nice, this might be OK for you, but honestly I was expecting MUCH higher quality from Alpinestars given my experience with their other products.

I would definitely steer away any of my friends or fellow riders from buying this backpack. It seems like it's built for looks, not durability.

Would be a nice bag, but poorly made.
Bag lasted about 4 rides before the strap broke when I was putting it on. Not worth the price.

Strap was not stitched on securely
After about 3 weeks of constant use the left strap ripped off from the top. The bag was not being abused in any way. I was putting the bag on and I went to clip the strap in and it ripped off and I had to ride 20 miles to work with one strap.

My favorite Alpinestars product by far
I've used quite a bit of gear made from A*s, had a couple pairs of gloves that were both honestly trash that frayed apart only a couple months apart of riding, went through a couple jackets that were decent but still didn't feel like I was really getting the most of out the money spent, and more spent on a brand name.

However, this backpack is the perfect size and exactly what I needed in terms of commuting to & from work, the laptop pouch a solid slot with it's own velcro strap and it has a couple pockets attached to the larger one that I can easily slide my wallet, reg/insurance etc. into. The pockets go deep and the removable waist strap (for days you aren't feeling the need for it) coupled with the adjustable and elastic chest strap give a superior lightweight feel that doesn't flop around in the wind. My favorite feature I'd have to say would be that if adjusted properly and riding at the right speed, the wind slightly lifts the pack giving a nice breeze on those hot days. Vegas gets upwards of 110+ and I forget this bag is even there.

The black & green looks awesome, and coincides with my 98 zx6r's lime nicely, I'd say overall storage space to something relevant would be about a change of clothes, two bottles of water, and a laptop/tablet. A pair of shoes will make the bag feel a bit full combined with the listed above, but it can be done. If you were looking for a solid commuter backpack for quick trips around town or work, this would be my #1 choice.

Great commuter/daily bag
I use this everyday for my commute to work. Laptop sleeve is great. Snuggly fits my Mac Pro and is well padded. Next "paper" sleeve (as I like to call it) is good for small thin items. Folders and papers really (hence the name).

Main space is good and a decent size. I can fit a laptop charger and all my gym clothes and shoes in just fine. Mesh zip pocket is a bit shallow though. With the bag so full, it gets in the way a bit. Would be better if they made it a bit deeper and offset to the outside soft-lined pocket. Currently all I have in the outer pocket are my sunglasses and that is even a stretch when the bag is full.

Have yet to use this long enough to test durability. Only worry are the zippers. They don't feel as sturdy as my old backpack. (North Face Recon daypack)

Styling I love. Sleek minimalist design. Color is nice and subtle.

It goes good with a green Ninja
This Backpack feels durable and well constructed. It has a good design and the green one goes good with a green ninja. It keeps water out and is very comfortable. I would like it to have more pockets and to be a little bigger. It can carry your laptop and school stuff but it would get full with a hoodie. I recomend it but be aware the space is limited.

Great looking and simple
Bag works and looks great. Simple and seemingly perfect for my use... Not a big shopper or traveler but helps get anything small back to the house and perfect to carry the laptop when I need it.

PERFECT COMMUTING PACK!
i got this just for commuting to and from work, i must say, im surprised what all i can fit into it!

the straps keep it well centered on my back and i have no issues with it flying around on day trips.

the shape also keeps it quiet and streamlined to minimize the wind noise you would hear riding in the 3/4 to tuck positions.
(the speed limits here are 85 MPH, so i tend to tuck for my 2 hour commute)

Just the right size!
I was looking for a pack for commuting that was not too big, was water resistant, and would last! I believe the alpinestar's lite backpack fits that bill. But the main feature that sold me on it was the quick release on the left arm strap. As a bigger guy getting a pack on and off with a jacket on was a near impossible task. Not with the alpinestar's lite pack. The quick release makes putting the pack on or off extremely easy. The pack seems to be made well and the zippers are qualiity.

This is an awesome light weight backpack. The green/black looks great. I got lot of compliments on the looks and the color. Laptop with extended battery fits perfect. This bag has enough pockets to keep all the important things in place plus the bag is nice and compact, not too big.

How would this backpack hold up in wet riding conditions?
Stephanie G on Nov 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Ruined everything inside the bag after 10 minutes.
Is the green high viz for night riding?
Allen R on Mar 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The pack has two reflective stripes running vertical on the back, while i don't think the green is meant to be a high viz green, it does help a lot with visibility, which is one reason i got the green one myself.
is this waterproof?? if not how would it hold up in the rain?
Wilhelm K on May 1, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would say as long as you don't plan on submerging in you should be good. The zippers are not waterproof. I have ridden in the rain a few times with mine and it didn't get wet inside.
is this backpack water proof i would be caring my laptop in it back and fourth from work and it rains sometimes i live and commute in Seattle so some times it rains all day?
A C on Jul 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The zippers do not have a heavy rubber backing like a jacket, but there is a good rain gutter sewn under the zipper so if water does get in it has a place to go. I also live in Seattle and the rest of the pack repels water well
Didn't see a solid answer on whether or not this is waterproof? I need something than can take a pounding from the rain in Seattle without water seeping through to the contents. No plans to submerge it... Thanks.
Olly on Jan 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would say not waterproof. i have ridden in the rain a handful of times with this bag and my stuff inside stayed dry. so i would say resistant to water, but for prolonged use in heavy rain, you might look elsewhere. hope that helps.
Does this product have enough space for a 13 inch Chromebook and riding boots/change of shoes?
A shopper on Feb 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I believe so, but only if you pack it right and only just barely I'd bet. I typically keep my rain gear, my alternate visor and tire repair kit in mine. This leaves just enough room for some rolled up clothes or a sack lunch.
